I had my first lightning cable IEM nearly 10 years ago. They were from Shure and have an inbuilt dac (and still going strong). And with mmcx adapters they work with not just Shure's mmcx detachable earbuds but also with others like my 7hz Timeless. That's meant I can use my 7hz Timeless with an iPhone. My Shure earbuds are nearly 10 years old - built to last and sound great with quad drivers. I also have a 3.5mm and 4.4mm cable that I can use with any of my mmcx earbuds. There's a usb c cable as well. And Shure produce very good bluetooth earhooks that I can use with mmcx earbuds. That gives me decent, long lasting earbuds that I can use wired or wirelessly. And if the battery on the earhooks stops charging in a few years I don't have to throw away the earbuds. Using an iPhone and the cable is great as Apple outputs truebit audio, whereas Android, by default down samples the audio. Some manufacturers, fortunately bypass Android's peculiar approach to reducing audio quality. The android app "USB audio player Pro" also bypasses android's inbuilt audio issue. The app works with music on your device (lossless uncompressed for best results) and works with Tidal. I had Tidal for a while and Tidal's music sounded better through this app than through Tidal's own app. However, not many android phones these days have a 3.5mm headphone socket or decent inbuilt dac (Asus uses sabre ess Quad dacs in some of its phones , much like LG did - if only Asus offered more than 2 years of OS updates!).
Questyle did make a usb-c version called the NHB15. I'm curious if there would be a huge difference in sound if I use the M15 DAC instead of the built in DAC they come with.
