    @Wrath of Math I disagree with the solution on Problem 1d). Since the first derivative is negative in that region and second derivative is positive, they are pointing in different directions and so the temperature is cooling at a decreasing rate. To illustrate this a little easier, imagine this is a particle motion problem; if we have a particle moving with a negative velocity and has an acceleration in the positive direction, we would say that the x-value of the position is decreasing at a DECREASING rate, since the acceleration in the opposite direction is opposing the direction of motion and effectively slowing the particle down. The same reasoning should apply here also, correct?

      Im pretty sure its increasing at a decreasing rate. For example, a coffee cup for the first minute is increasing by 1 degree per minute. Then the next minute its increasing by half a degree a minute. The temperature of the coffee is still increasing but the rate at which its increasing is negative. I could be wrong.
