Making zone defense legal made team defense a real tool and its come up huge in two dynasties (Spurs/Warriors) plus these 2011 Mavs and ofc the gnarly 2004 Pistons. And thats part of what got shooters improving, and now that the floor is so spread out team defense is more important than ever to plug driving lanes.
