Having owned both, these are two very different cars. The 570 is a great car, but the 720 is otherworldly. On a dry road I don’t think there is a faster car point to point. To really feel the differences, you need to show the car some proper corners ... maybe something for another video. From an owner’s perspective, there is NO question the 720 is worth the extra money.

As you say, nothing wrong with asking, but as @poltergeist1105 says, I feel no need to prove anything to anybody. I own the cars I own because they give me pleasure, nothing more.

Dude, the 720s could cost 3x the price of the 570s, for all I care. I'll still say it is worth it, based upon its hypercar-like performance alone.

NoMore9to5Work For around 960k? Nah, I get it could cost twice the price and that be reasonable but to cost 960k it’d have to have better stats, also at least top speed 230mph.
Why? It is 4 TENTHS of a second faster and the front is ugly as hell. That is not my opinion but the general consensus of all reviewers. The lights are heinous and the lines make no sense. If you gave me a 720 over my 570S, I would sell the 720 and keep my 570 in a heartbeat. Ugliest thing McLaren has ever made and it is NOT that much faster for the money. Nobody on here is pro driver, and the reality is your 0-60 time is actually more like 5.0 seconds when you drive a 570s. Watch enough launch videos and you see nobody meeting the listed times.

WRONG! The 720s is not just 4 tenths of a second faster than 570s. The 720s does has done numerous sub 10s 1/4 mile passes. The 570s doesn't get anywhere close to a sub 10s 1/4 mile pass. And not to mention trap speeds. The 720s traps well over 140mph as it reaches the 1/4 mile distance. In fact, Road & Track recorded 1/4 mile speeds of 148.2mph, when it tested the 720s. The 570s gets nowhere close to such speed over the 1/4 mile distance. And looks is subjective. It is based upon one personal taste. For example, I don't find Porsche 911 supercars attractive (although I think the styling improves in the form of the 911GT2 RS and 911 GT3 RS). To me, they all look like toads/frogs. But you may like their styling. And most journalists and reviewers say they really like the design of the 720s. In fact, the 720s even won 2 awards for its design. It won the 2018 "red dot best design" award. And it was also crown the "most beautiful supercar," at the 2017 Festival Automobile International Awards, in Paris. It's just that it took a while for some to appreciate the front end design of the car (especially the eye sockets). And that typically happens when a new concept is introduced to us. But don't take my word for it. If you do the research, I'm sure you will discover that most automotive publications gave the 720s 8/10 or better, for design. Doug Demuro gave it the same score for "styling." Chris Harris say he loves the way it looks.

I try so hard to like the 720s because it’s newer, more powerful, etc. I just cannot get past the 570s spider, it’s beautiful in my eyes, and one day I’ll have one

If you care about 0-100 so much then yes. If not, good because in the real world the 570S is way better for the price you pay

Yes, yes it is worth the extra 80k. For the extra power alone. Haven't finished the video yet and already know that one hahaha
A flash tune and a few basic mods makes the 570s capable of 9's... so technically faster than the 720s. But obviously you could do the same to the 720s
@@Skirk84 Yeah, with a tune and a few mods you could make it just as fast as the 720, if not faster and still have money money left over.
@@Skirk84 Anyone can play the modding game, but there will always be a faster car anyway. Prefer something stock and has great reliability warranty and regular professional servicing.
@@inspirice9844 I like the 570s more than the 720s. So if the only reason I'm buying the 720s is for the extra speed, this is my solution. Also the modding game is the only game im interested in. No car is perfect, but if you can make it better... why wouldn't you. When I drive a car i find what i dislike about it the most, whether its feedback, soft suspension, hard suspension, steering wheel, seating position, power delivery, sound, grip... anything, and I fix it to improve the car. I get enjoyment out of driving a car I can't fault and that is imo, perfection. It's only until I inevitably drive something better that I might release the fault with my own and re-evaluate.

What I heard from a McLaren owner is that most, if not all, McLarens have virtually the same engine. The thing that changes is the body and other features. I personally would choose the 570S, but not the spyder. But that’s just me
PJ Morrison your friend is wrong, the 720S has a brand new engine that’s different from the 570S/650S/675LT

2014 the 650S : McLaren's current supercar at the time
2015 the 570S : McLaren's downgraded and cheaper version of the 650S named "sports series" for marketing reasons
2017 the 720S : McLaren's next-generation evolution of their supercar
You feel the torque which doesn’t change much between the motor varients in their line up. All are underrated and all bat far above their pricepoint. In terms of overall fun, I’d say at the end of the day you won’t have that much more fun in a 720s but interior space,looks etc, that and the rear end on the 720s are better. I think though a better comparison would be the 540 vs the 570

Yeah I agree The Cheese. My Favorite was the 675LT... but sometimes the 570s just grabs me and I think fuck that looks good. Ive never felt that with the 720s... its more like... would i buy one? ehhh maybe if it didnt look like that. (oh and I had a couple of mil in the bank)

Flash tune and a few basic mods on the 570s and it will crack into the 9's. It's hard to get the 720s to run a 9... so I think id get the 570s hands down.

@@howarda4242 who do you know that runs them "all day long". Because the people I know of very much struggle to run a 9. It was only 6 months ago that the first 720s in the states (modded) did run a 9

Brooks from dragtimes , many other cars on CZcams running 9s just check . I’m sure mine will run 9s too in the Spring .
@@howarda4242 yeah I was including drag Times and if you watch he doesn't run a 9 every time, maybe one out of 6 times. And it took him ages to be able to run a 9 in the first place. I have run a 9 in my car too but more often than not I run a 10.2-10.4. especially if I'm not running fresh Mickey Thompsons. So I definitely don't "run 9th all day long" I've maybe run 15 to 20 at the most
Definitely the 720. The value of the 570 depreciates by about 60k the second you drive it off the lot
And the 720 by over $100k. For the PERFORMANCE, .2-.4 seconds, a fool would buy the 720. And for everyday use, which is what MOST people are going to use any sports car for - not tracks, not any drag racing, they 720 is smoked by the 570S for the price. And given everyday drivers, one hiccup at the start and nobody will tell the difference. The 570S is far more liked by spectators and most aficionados for design over the uglier 720.

720 is uglier by a mile, I know that much. As a 570S owner, I prefer the everyday looks, torque usage, and comfort versus the 720. What is .4 seconds by a professional driver, which nobody reading this is anyway.

And there are modes civics running 6's, but no stock Z06 or even a ZR1 runs a 9.7 like the 720 does. Disregard price, car for car there is no other competitor that stands close to this car in its bracket

But the 720S will actually get itself around a circuit quickly. That Z06 is only fast in a straight line. Not everyone enjoys drag racing.
The 570s is trash! Be prepared for problems! Best moment was buying it, the second best moment was selling it! Be prepared to be on the first name basis with your service provider! There is a reason there are bunch of them on the market for a good price! Loses a ton of value in its first year off the lot! Your welcome!
Why settle for a cheap version when you can get the best version. If you can’t afford the 720s I suggest maybe buy a top of the line Corvette or Porsche and look like you got money instead of trying to be a wannabe In my books.
