    Thank you for passing that. You made it very clear, easy, and simplified.

    Any suggestions for tweeters that fit without modification? I’m shipping for tweeters now and it’s hard to get an idea for what fits. Crutchfield has some suggestions but they’re expensive.

    I just realized that both of my tweeters are not putting out any sound at all. Ideas on what to check first? Not an experienced person with car audio, but somewhat tech savvy. Thanks!

      They probably got blow out. Have you confirmed the wiring? Meaning, are they both hooked up?

    I just popped my tweeter. Everything you did was self explanatory but I didn't understand the part about filling the bass response crossover with a capacitor to bypass it. Does that come in a new tweeter speaker assembly? Also I understand that my vehicle's ( a 2011 kia soul sport) subwoofer is an odd size at 7.5" are the tweeters standard size?

      Gerimaya Whyte very late response but in case anyone else is curious, tweeters are all kinds of sizes. You’ll see most around .5”, .75”, an 1” sizes the most. The Soul seems to default with the .75” size. As for the bass crossover - when you replace the factory tweeter, you’ll need to make sure you have a crossover/capacitor/whatever to keep low frequencies out of the tweeter. It’s a small speaker that will get overwhelmed trying to reproduce bass. This crossover/capacitors filters out lower frequencies and keeps your tweeter pushing high range frequencies.

      The capacitor is to filter frequency responses that are below 2kHz so you don't ruin your tweter.Best to have it done by professionals so you get a better sound set-up

    Did you ever end up doing other upgrades? Is the tweeter on a dedicated channel from the head unit? It seems odd that they would need a filter capacitor if it is. I guess it might have been cheaper that way vs building it into the amplifier logic.

    • @monorailengineer
      @monorailengineer  Před 4 lety

      The tweeter is not on a dedicated channel. That is why they needed a filter. A full range signal is running to the tweeter and woofer. I added a class D amp and sub because class D draws less power and it is an EV after all.

      @@monorailengineer - Thanks! That was my suspicion. In that case I'll probably pick out a component set with crossovers in order to tune the system. Have you had any issues with your sub depleting the 12v battery? I was planning to get a low wattage class D setup as well, but I've heard some negative feedback in the Kia Soul EV Facebook group. One guy said he had to charge his 12v battery every week because of his 150w 8" sub. He eventually switched to a 2018 Kia Soul (I'm guessing switched due to leases, but who knows) and it got better, but he still has to connect an external 12v charger monthly.

      I had a set of MB Quart tweeters I wasn't using. You can use any brand.

    how do you connect a new tweeter?

      @pspgamerserjio Před 6 lety

      jvr cj either get another oem one and just reconnect it or just cut the cable, strip the plastic around the wires and solder the wires onto the aftermarket tweeter

      I cut the cable and soldered a new lead cable to it.
