Cybil Shepard wanted Peter Bogdanovich to direct Saint Jack, kicking Welles out of the director's seat... Bog was going to have Orson get a come back directing his, Peter's, production, but nothing doing. This is in the book THIS IS ORSON WELLES. I just wish Orson would have played the Saint Jack role that Peter played: the cigar smoking millionaire. Would have been better.
He had a magnificent voice. And listen to that diction.
He looked tired...
Well he was dead a week later, hence the opening slate with the dedication... to his memory
Hard to believe he died a week after this appearance
I remember been awestrucked by this episode, the first time i come in contact with the talent of this american giant.
The original Unicron!!

Was this tied in some way to Brogdonovich/Shepard and Platt?
No. Check out czcams.com/video/NJs3VSVFYCk/video.html
Interesting that this episode aired the same year The Purple Rose of Cairo was released. Nostalgia for old Hollywood was in fashion I guess.
it is tied to them in that Welles didn't care for Shepard until the last year of his life, this year, when he and Peter B. became friends again.
