I will say most famous "British" dishes are just kind of mid. Its mainly just varieties of a meat + bread + potatoes with very very limited spices when compared with the rest of the world. So many better cuisines. Laotian, Indian, Mexican, Spanish, Thai, Turkish, Italian, Pakistani, Japanese etc etc etc.
The good news for the British is if "American" can even be considered its own cuisine then it is one of the few countries whose cuisine is more boring and bland than the cuisine of Britain. If we were putting the cuisines of the world in a tier list British would be C tier at best but really D tier.
I mean in all seriousness what countries would be lower? America, maybe some Scandanavian countries?

The Melton Mowbray is classed as a hand-raised pie, The meat is grey because it uses fresh pork, with no added meat preservatives, unlike most other pies. If the meat is pink it has a preservative of some kind, not that they have cooked the pork for less time.

Stanley Tucci now lives in London wants to do one of his travel food programs in the UK because the food is so great. This is directed to you Americans. He said London is the best city in the world for food. I don’t need to buy it from the shops et cetera, but we must have every sort of cuisine in the world. And don’t get me started on the quality compared to American food.

British food has an unfairly bad reputation.
We do pies and roasts better than any other country. America kicks our arse for BBQ. Each country has merits but American TV does love to push the narrative British food is bad like it’s some sort of insecurity they have.

I've been going to Mother Mash for 10 years or so even before I moved to the UK. Love them and the owner is super nice. When I lived in the East End, I had Willys and they're very good. I was fortunate enough to have tried F. Cooke before most shuttered, both on Broadway and Hoxton Market. in 2021, before I moved back to the states, the F. Cooke on Hoxton was still open, but only a couple of days a week.
