Did this ring actually sell for $1000 like the title says? If so, Why?

When my uncle came home from WWII after serving in the Pacific campaign, he brought some nice pieces made from the brass of the shell casings. My favorite is a P-38 made from back to back 30.06 shells perched on a .50 bmg round that was attached to a short section of a 75mm Howitzer shell casing.
That sounds metal. Literally

Great work. This brings back memories of high school shop class in '73 where one of our project choices was creating a ring from a SS nut using a rat tail file, flat file, and sandpaper. No Dremel back then, but we did use a grinding wheel and a buffer to polish the ring. Very nice work!
Thank you very much!
we made rings too but from metal dowel stock so the hole had to be drilled with a drill press. A hand drill and a 4" angle grinder would have saved this guy HOURS

Instagram: instagram.com/evgeniybudilov/ Привет, друзья!

Well I will say I wear and collect stainless rings and I don’t think I’ve ever paid more than 20 bucks for one. Still doesn’t take away from that being a cool video and project
Thank you!
It took 5 years for someone like me to tell you that ring isn’t worth $5
Looking through the comments, my thoughts exactly
That nut costs like .60c though.

I grew up in a family with a passion for metal and tech. And love to see other outstanding craftsman making beautiful things with their bare hands. Loved every sec. of this vid.!!
Thank you very much!
I remember after reaching my target on a night shift job I would spend the remaining time making a ring out of an old silver coin, my process was slightly different but turned out lovely also.
Good craft work 👍🏻
Thank you!

@@bigark6399 Thanks!
The ring was so perfect, and the video was enthralling. Love mostly all hand tools were used. I just don’t know how on EARTH it sold for $1000. Surely not. Not that it’s not worth that for the time poured into it. It’s just that I don’t know a soul who would pay that……. I need that part explained but aside from that, I’m amazed
Thank you!
@@budilov I want this explained as well. :) Good work, though! It's beautiful
Me neither.
it makes for a good title. So people click on it. Thats it.
Lol, it's only worth 1000 dollars to him, I don't know of anyone else stupid enough to pay that for a 10 dollar steel ring
I was on submarines in the navy. We used to make rings from stainless nuts when out to sea to pass the time. We used small hand files and jewlers rouge and a lot of tedious patience. Some guys did some really great work.
Thanks
I am amazed the officers did not shut this down in a heartbeat. Filling the air with electrically conductive particulates in a submarine jam-packed with electronics sound like an invitation to a problem.
They were getting ready for all the nasty celebrations that happen on a submarine.
@@curlydave7689 I'm certain they did this in the shop.
I hope many did not try on for size while making then could not get this huge nut off their finger.

$1000, no. Imagine giving him silver or gold, hell yes. This man is a craftsman and my complain on $1000 I just that it is steel.
My thought as well. That ring would only be worth $1k if it had a $1k diamond in it....still pretty cool.

I worked in a forge shop at a shipyard, one day some folks that had been cutting up some old industrial electrical panels out side our shop, brought some of there scrap in and through it in our dumpster. I noticed the the parts, they were breaker contact switches. The contacts were pure silver, I grabbed a chisel and a hammer and separated the silver from its host. I end up with just over a pound of pure silver. Mixed with a little copper it makes nice rings and things. Nice video!
Thank you for your comment!

Great job. I wish I could tell how you cut the angles on the nut. I have started making brass rings. Started with hacksaw but graduated to a cut off disk in a dremmel tool. Also invested in a steel grinder bit that does the job in a couple of minutes. I use a felt wheel which I stick a 6 inch sanding disc on. It grinds down the material in seconds. Use jewellers rouge on the felt wheel. It removes all scratches in minutes. Haven't tried a stainless steel nut yet but in the US and Canada stainless steel is very expensive. Your $.05 nut would cost about $5.00.Canada.
James...Why the heat?
Did you Heat your material with a torch unit it Glowed Red-hot?
Is it necessary to heat up the material before processing?
( I'm not sure) ?? Thanks. ✌️
Hi Evgeniy,
That's an amazing art work in manufacturing by using conventional methods. It might look simple but using that hacksaw blade, filing and sand paper to create an art is quite difficult and needs good precised hands. Also a good usage of vernier. Thanks for sharing this video.
Thanks for the nice words!

Decades ago I worked at a large oil-tool machine shop, guys would make rings from the K-Monel nuts that were used in harsh conditions. I had one that you could still make out the thread lead! One day management pointed out how expensive the nuts were so the Leadman on the turret lathes took a piece of Monel, offset it in a four jaw chuck and made blanks.
Beautiful work my friend 🍻
