  • Recalbox looks amazing, it appears much more polished and clean than RetroPie and we be perfect if you're planning on giving this to someone who is non-technical. It looks as if it's a straight up appliance and not a Linux based OS because it's polished. Also, with RetroPie just scrolling through my list of games was causing a crash and during the copy operation. This thing hasn't crashed once... (knock on wood) -- Let me know what you guys think!

    I can't install Recalbox on mine and I can't configure Retropie without a keyboard, would I have a 16gb image to display Recalbox?

    • @MavericksArcade
      @MavericksArcade  Před 3 lety

      You may be able to find a working image somewhere online. I do not provide images or ROMs, sorry. You could also potentially install the image onto the SD card, and before putting the card in the Pi, turn on the SSH functionality. Then, you'd be able to remote in from your normal PC and configure it that way.

    does recalbox have safe shutdown? do we need to install it manually?

    • @MavericksArcade
      @MavericksArcade  Před 2 lety

      During the installation it automatically installs a script that allows you to just shut it off and it will shutdown gracefully. However, I'm not of any scripts to safely shutdown in a low power situation.

    I just got the Retroflag GPI yesterday and lagging quite a bit on every system I use. I downloaded the Recal image and I even have fresh batteries in it. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Please help!

    Magnetically shield the speaker cabling.

      @@MavericksArcade Its weird it wont connect I am not sure why it wont on retropie I could try tinkering with it some more to try to get it to work cause on recalbox the emulation for gba is horrible.

    Does GBA works better on Recallbox? Because all of my GBA games on my GPI case doesnt start it keep exiting (neither theres a BIOS) thanks!

    • @MavericksArcade
      @MavericksArcade  Před 4 lety

      I guess, if better means it doesn't exit back to the main screen :-) I was able to play without a problem, it was a little slow, but worked :-)

    is there any other way to copy games to device ?
    It is really difficult to send a 600 megabyte game to the device with this method.

    • @MavericksArcade
      @MavericksArcade  Před 3 lety +1

      If you were running Linux, or maybe a virtual box of Linux then you could copy the files straight onto the SD card.

    I tried to install Recalbox with Raspberry Pi Imager, sadly none of my buttons are working. I can get the lights to flash when I press START + DLeft, but still, no buttons are working. Is there anything I can do?

  • @Robertrls01

    Cannot get the controller to map properly, it wont allow you to skip past keys, and you have to manually shut it down. pile of crap recalbox setup

    • @MavericksArcade
      @MavericksArcade  Před 4 měsíci

      I had this problem when I tried to install Recalbox directly. However, I then tried the one specifically setup for the GPICase and that resolved my issues, including the safe shutdown scripts.
