  • Sam Rogers, Design Engineer and Jet Suit Test Pilot at Gravity Industries, answers your questions on how they design, iterate and fly their jet suit.
The Gravity team are all about breaking boundaries and pushing the perception of reality, but they knew that their designs had to be realistic and functional in order to succeed.
Using SOLIDWORKS allowed them to experiment with, and analyse concepts without the need for physical prototypes, drastically minimising the number of failed attempts and reducing wasted materials.

I believe that maintaining flight using fuel combustion ( clean biofuel ) is better than the electrical system; Because the electrical system is consumer and very complex, especially if it relies on complex electronics with many many circuits, and programming ( coding ). So keeping the system simple is best.

Question. How do you control the thrust? Is it like a trigger system or like a motorcycle where you twist?

i've heard that an indian strtup (Absolute Composites Pvt Ltd) had exposed an identical copy of this jet suit. Isn't that illegal? I mean Richard have the patent for this invantion. No one can stael other people invations and sell them to the goverment's military.

It depends on whether the inventor has a patent approved in India.
Even if the inventor has a patent in India, as long as the inventor can work out a deal with anyone who wants to commercialize the invention, all the better for the inventor.

Gravity wants competition. They don't care.
