PS: Nothing can beat the Dickies cover of the Banana Splits theme! An American Punk band from the late 70s, it was only released as a Single on yellow vinyl, also called 'the Tra La La song', check it out.

Yes, I have it. It's still in my CD holder in my Jeep.
I wish they'd release another one with the Magic Garden theme, Zoom, Sesame Street, The Electric Company, Mr. Roger's Neighborhood, Villa Legre, etc.
I have the VHS of this. I uploaded it to CZcams & one by one, they were taken down. Once the 5th video was deleted, so was my CZcams account.

Ahhh, 'Villa Alegre', now that's a show I never hear folks mention, but I was a fan of, in the early 80s! 😊
"The Spanish pronunciation: [ˈbiʎa aˈleɣɾe], meaning 'Happy Village' is a children's television show and the first national bilingual (Spanish/English) program in the United States. It was produced by Bilingual Children's Television as its inaugural project on the company's founding in 1970.
Villa Alegre debuted on Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) in 1973 and ran until funding disputes ended the project in 1981.
The show was also seen in syndication on commercial stations at least weekly in some markets." 🤓👍
      #VillaAlegre

Not only did I have the album I also had the VHS Tape it was hosted by Drew Barrymore and her friends and it showed music videos for all the songs with the bands performing them and clips of the shows. You can find most of these songs on CZcams if you type in the name of the group and the name of the song.

I didn’t have the album but I remember when it came out . MTV played the video for Liz Phair’s Banana splits theme “Tra La La” The Ramon’s Spider-Man was played in heavy rotation on the late nite alternative shows like 120 minutes
Then they made another compilation album of KISS songs covered by alternative bands and Garth Brooks. But not as Chris Gaines.

  • @acrodave9287

Nah, the greatest Gen-X album was either "Generation X" or "Valley of the Dolls", both by the 70s British Punk band Generation X (with Billy Idol on vocals).
Oh I see what you mean! No, you probably won't have heard of them, I misunderstood the premise. 🤣

I had the cassete sampler version that only had three or four of the songs. I did make a copy of another album from my school library that was a two record set of tv theme songs, including a lot of the ones these were covered from. My buddy had the actual Ren & Stimpy record, and I copied that onto a tape also.

I remember that album. I was about 20 so I had no appreciation for it. My older friends that were 28 or so really liked it. My childhood album would have been more along the lines of Transformers, He-Man, Thundercats, G.I. Joe n shits. I looked down on ANYTHING from the 1970s until my late 20s or early 30s. Now I have a much bigger appreciation for programming from those dark ages. I tend to refer to that period as "the last of the organic times". Pre cable television n internet.
