- Ray Price walks out of the audience on this 1978 Austin City LImits songwriter's special and proves that a great voice needs nothing more than a simple guitar accompaniment. Although it helps when it's Willie Nelson's guitar... Sorry for the poor quality, but that's all there was in 1978!
Ray and Willie. It don't hardly get not better than this.
The best version I’ve ever heard. When Willie stopped playing Rhythm and just fills, Ray’s voice carried it like magic.
One of the best singer
I've said it many times Ray Price is the best voice ever recorded.
I knew Ray and recorded him on quite a few sessions. His voice was so big and rich sounding he didn't need much instrumentation. He was most surely a cornerstone in country music.
A voice in a million
the absolute best
What a great moment
superb!
What a dapper looking Ray Price. He's walking just like that in heavenf!!
WONDERFUL!!!!!
I miss this great man so much, but WOW, what a classic this is and brings tears to my eyes. Thank you so much for posting this!!!
We will never run out of his great music. He made it for such a long time.
Gosh, he's good lookin' and sings like a real man (and was a 'real' man)
Wow, what a great singer. I was blessed to see him twice in person. A great voice.
I remember watching the ACL show live back in '78. This song inspired me to chase alot of musical dreams. What a great surprise to find it tonight. Would love to have a copy of the entire songwriters show.JRK
Just great
Leave it to Willie to write such a lovely song
Thank you so much for uploading this!!! Do you have any other pieces of this show? Been looking for this for years!!!!
Willie, Hank Cochran, maybe Freddie Powers, Floyd Tillmon, Sonny Throckmarten. Some of the other writers on stage and Ray Price of course.
Can anyone name the song writers there with Willie?
