You missed the ultimate killer. The TIMING CHAIN! If you are considering buying the L322 you must ask if the timing chain guides were replaced AND if they were replaced before, or after failure. If not, factor in 3 to 5k to fix. More if you want to replace more wear and tear items while they are in there. Which is recommended.
Feel like I learnt so much for a 6 minute video... So informative. Thank you!
My 2007 RRS SC which now has 211000 miles had each and every one of these problems mentioned. I fixed them all plus tires at a tune of over 12 grand… got to love em!!
How long have you had it? How many miles did it have when you bought
Biggest problem is the timing chain issue. Make sure to check the maintenance records for length between oil changes. If the previous owner followed Land Rover guidelines and changed oil every 15,000 miles….avoid this car because if it hasn’t been replaced it will need it soon. This length between oil changes allows the oil to carbon up and lose its ability to lubricate. Not keeping the chain lubricated properly will cause excessive wear. I recommend changing your oil every 5,000 miles.
Great video , one of the best I’ve watched , very informative and learnt a lot
Happy Ramadan brother thanks for the heads up on Rangie problems. May peace be upon you.
Great vid! Thanks for the tips
Very helpful for any potential buyer.
excellent info my bro
Great video like how he gives you a rough price for every job

This is the next car am planning to buy am glad i came across this video
just found this channel,Thanks for the heads up
Welcome!
Good video bro
Wooow I didn’t know any of these before 👏👏👏
Really helpful sir, thank you so much. That honesty from a dealer almost makes me trust the profession a little. I would look at your cars though with more trust. I'm researching like mad now because I'm buying my first one next year (saving now) lol, I can't wait. 👍
I’m glad you found the view helpful

@@DRIVECARSPOV Hey is there a common problem with a blinking
tpms light and dash/console shutting down with
radio saying engine fault?
@@terry_darrow I have never experienced that. maybe a battery fault!
@D6 AUTO hey I really appreciate you feedback much appreciated
Super Vid - any more details on possible reasons for oil leaks? appreciate
Main culprits are old seals braking apart.
Great video. The rear brake pipes also tend to corrode heavily in the centre pipe
The L320 model used lead wiring for the ride height sensors. Water causes the wiring to rust = suspension issues
The 2006-2009 models also have a lot of brake master cylinder issues
All range rovers work great when daily driven. If you plan on buying one for weekends only then forget it, just bite the bullet and drive the car regular. I know the MPG isnt great but if you leave them sitting around thats when majority of issues occur
Thank you 👍
I love my Range Rover Sport HSE 👌
Merci, j'ai l'intention d'acheter un Range Rover de 2007 et vos conseils sont trés interessants, dommage que votre garage ne soit pas à Majorque... Bonne suite
great video bro
Just Got a 2006 Range Rover Sport HSE for ¼ of bluebook value [ current BB value is 10 to 15 thousand USD it is immaculate inside and out so it is on the higher end of that ) price was low because of oil leaking from the valve cover gaskets and it is smoking from the driver side exhaust ( yes, only the driver side ) [ likely failed valve guide seals due to being parked on a hill leaning towards the passenger side for 6 months ]
I got it so cheap because the repair shop gave the previous owner an estimate of over $2,000 USD just to repair the oil leaks and another $500 USD for an ignition lock cylinder ( which is perfectly functional , this particular issue is well known to most RR techs it's a failed steering lock system not allowing the key to turn more than ½ way to position 1. Which I Fixed in under 15 minutes with a spray of
' PB Blaster! ' penetrating oil into the solenoid on the steering column )
So, That is the background, Now
Here's the thing that I wanted to share, the air suspension is not functional,
the compressor is functioning properly and neither the air shocks nor the lines are leaking.... the problem is with the
' electronic air ride control valve assembly ' it doesn't respond to the control signal that is sent from the control module..... ( verified signal at the plug with my multimeter ) can anyone tell me where a place to get a new valve that isn't over $400 ? I really don't have the funds to pay that much for it and I don't want to keep using the manual lift control that I have built to make it drivable...
very helpful boss
🙏🙏
Great video thanks for sharing! I’m looking to purchase a 2006 Land Rover Sport SC. With 78000KM was wondering anything else to look for on the SuperCharged version?
About to purchase my first RRS this month, thanks for this great video! I am sure it will come in handy when I do my test drives this weekend.
At the end of the video, you mentioned making sure the GARAGE is done and the cam belts. What is the GARAGE? Or did I misunderstand what you were saying?
I meant that the dealer or previous owners have done the cam belt before you purchase it 👍🏼
@@DRIVECARSPOV awesome, thanks so much. Went to drive 5 on Friday, with a list of 7 things to look for from this video. As I said, this video came in handy lol. ✌️
This is my dream car I really do like them it’s my dream car definitely I hope I will have luck with a Range Rover.
Thanks
Excellent, going to look at a 2012 RRS next week. 90k on the clock with full LR service history so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
Good luck 🤞
How did you to purchase?
Are oil leaks problem for 3.6 as well or just that 2.7 ? Also the rocker covers? They seem to be a money pits, but i love them, found one 2008 RR Sport with 170k KM on the clock ,seems prestine but im scared to buy it lol ...
The 3.6 engine is a much better engine than the 3.0 SDV6 in my
Opinion. However, the 3.6 is a V8 and can be a little thirsty on fuel.
@@DRIVECARSPOV Great ,thanks fuel is not problem, just you scared me a bit, hope i will have luck with my RR.
MashAllah good content
So easy to change anti bar links and sway bar bushings to. Range rovers are easy to work on.
🙄
Clearly never worked on a TDV8 😂
The no1 issue is the air suspension. Other than that, the engine is great as long as you do maintenance.
You mean the 2,7 Hdv6 engine?
Not being Gay buy I love you man HUGE THANKS
🙏
No mention on each individual engine model. The TDV8, the 3.0, the 2.7. That's just the Diesels. Which engine were you discussing in the video? ( I know ) but most wont.
I was mentioning the 3.0 SDV6 engine in this video. However, the 2.7 also suffers from rocket cover issues as well as oil leaks.
I've worked on RRS and seeing oil leaks in a few minutes is not possible. The undershield just gets in your way and catches all the oil up? It may look clean, but it's not. Don't you know the saying : "If you own a Land Rover and there's no oil on the ground, then it means you have no more oil in" ;)
Agree 100%... but I would add that if it is over 150,000 miles and it isn't smoking from at least one side it's also probably out of oil...
[ as a side note: the saying " if it's not leaking it is out of oil " also applies to
' Detroit Diesel ' engines as well... and most Chevrolet products over 5 years old... ]
Thanks
@@jojomorgan8556 ;) What a relief!
Hello I am very surprised that you do not mention the timing belt issue on the 5.0 engine... it is by far the biggest problem you may encounter and it is the most expensive to fix ! All 5.0 are going to face this problem because of tensioner / guide that are very poor quality. Also on diesel 2.7 v6 'ex ford psa) engine you still face the "lottery" of the manifold breaks !
5 litre is quite rare in the UK.
Cam BELTS are not a problem...there are none. There are however timing chains and plastic guides. The guides fail causing rattle on cold startup and potentially timing issues if the chain slackens sufficiently and the chain jumps a cam phaser tooth. This affected certain years (2009-2012 I believe)...essentially the Jaguar AJ133 engine until the DA VIN prefix. The repair is costly. This was largely addressed by the 2014 model year in the L494.
Not true this video is from the UK where most RRS are fitted with Ford derived Lion engine. It’s a diesel & is either 2.7 or the later 3.0. They have 2 belts
Hi thanks for the video. I've 2 questions. When I drive over 120 km I get a speed alert message showing the 120 km traffic sign in the dashboard and a orange triangle. I can't find the setting to delete this.
2 when I drive over 140 km the temperature is heating up of the engine and it runs towards 90 degrees. When slowing down it goes back to the level it should go. Do you happen to know what this might be? Will go to the garage in the next days but thought I would ask
Hi
In the screen in-front of you where the speedo is displayed. You should have an option for speed limiter options. Make sure that’s turned off so you don’t get the alert. What year is your Range Rover ?
Also the temperature going up maybe be an issue as it won’t matter what speed you are doing, temp gauge should always stay in the middle or where it is suppose to be. Have the car checked coolant leaks.
Can you put an oam suspension parts from another car brand like Nissan patrol or Toyota Land Cruiser or VW or any suv with cheap parts
Just to get rid of the air suspension problem ?!
I’m not sure that’s possible.
What could be the reason for oil in radiator. The car isn't heating at 45c temp outside with continous AC. Please give your expert opinion for this RRS SC
This could be a head gasket issue which allows oil to pass through to your cooling modules. However, you need to do further investigation to find the exact issue.
Hey man your video was very helpful. I'm thinking of buying a 2006 range rover sport which has a faulty gear. The miles on the engine is less but the gear is gone. The air suspension is compromised aswell I think. I would really appreciate your help with this purchase and a rough idea on the cost I'm looking into? And any other problems I could expect with a range rover sport 4.2 supercharged ? I hear alot from people, not to buy one as it dies on you anytime randomly.
It’s very unusual for gearboxes go bad on Range Rovers, but if that’s the case then you’d need to look on eBay for a used gearbox plus fitting fees. Suspension compressor is around £400 from main dealer but deals can be found online. I would go for a Diesel engine as they are more durable and last longer but again all Range Rovers come with issues so make sure you have someone check the engine health for you before commit to buying.
@@DRIVECARSPOV I'm from Pakistan and the diesel here is really bad which had made the range rover diesel engines fail miserably here. The petrol engines are more successful here. I'll run an Engine diagnosis and check for error codes before buying.
dont buy a range rover from that generation/year. look at the lr322 nor lr320. alot of transmission and engine issues.
What model is the white range rover on the thumb nail, the front bumper looks different than most rrs
This is HSE Red Edition
Hi! At what suspension settings can this car be lifted on a workshop lift?
We usually do it at the highest setting with airbags inflated.
@@DRIVECARSPOV Thank You
Iv just got an 07 HSE 2.7 Wonder when I drive off I see the Rev needle jump up and down abit then it settles down. If I floor it I get smoke out the back then goes It’s been sitting for a few months I’m doing a service. The gearbox feels like it changes 5 times then smooth should I do the oil change too. Many thanks for any advice
A routine maintenance should be performed and see if that does the trick
How is the car now?
Turbos blew my engine
3.6 twin turbo
Beautiful but broke my heart .
I’m sorry to hear that 😭
just avoid a RRS at all cost ! lol
Do you know if every rangerover 2010 to 2013 will eventually have the timing chain issue?
Yes
Hi Ali, the 3.0TDv6 or SDV6 are timing belt driven which need to be replaced around every 60k-80k miles. If they snap, say goodbye to your engine so it’s vital you change them according to manufacture requirements. The 3.6 TDV8 engines are chain driven and if you regularly service them on time they shouldn’t need replacing. Hope that answered your question.
Bro can you help me to get a 2010 Range Rover?
i lock my car in acess hight but when i reach speed over 45kmph it goes back to normal height. do you know why
It’s normal. You can’t drive it in access hight above 30mph or 45kmph.
I can see on the video the when you are lifting it on the 1 your sat in the front is hardly lifting at all is that what you were talking about
No that was fine and sometime they lift slower than usual all depending how much air was in the airbags. It is a problem If it doesn’t lift or when it lifts it comes back straight down without holding.
Bro i have a range rover sport 2.7 hse tdv6 but i have a problem the car start and shift good but has no power drives max 50km/h and no fault codes egr is already off withe plates ???????
Have you checked rocket covers.
Check turbo and change the oil.
I have a 2008 one , biggest ball of scrap iv ever had ,
What engine ?
What about the petrol version? Less probs?
They have their own issues too but not too bad
@@DRIVECARSPOV which older shape range or range sport would you recommend?
I thought these had timing chains not a belt?
These are belts
IF ANYONE WANTS TO BUY A RANGE ROVER BUY YOUR CAR WARRANTY ,& CHECK TO MAKE SURE IT COVERS EVERTHING.😃👌💯HAPPY 🚗
hi my friend , lr320 dashboard lights are blinking. what do you think is the problem ?
You need to buy a new dash on eBay and have someone adjust the mileage for you. Unless you find someone to strip original dash for you and change the small light behind the speedometers.
Hope that helps 🤞
Cam belt?
What about it ?
Rocket cover on the manifold ???
Maybe get your mechanic to explain it
How would you explain it ?
Not mentioned the biggest fault that of course being the crank shaft snapping.... rubbish cars
Hi Daniel
I wanted to cover the most commonly issues reoccurring with the LR Sport and I’m sure the crank shaft snapping isn’t fun but it don’t usually happen if the car has been regularly serviced and maintained. That my opinion though. Thanks for your comment
Its got more problems then a audi s8 v10
They got more problems
Don’t ever buy these cars unless you’re the first owner and have a warranty for the full period you own it
Here is a man who is to be pitied, he just bought the brand of vehicle that is the most towed in the garage in the world
I’ve got one and yes it’s a shed however I’m head over in love with the bastard
