Great video! I'm a home theater enthusiast and made the switch to dolby atmos. I have a 5.1.4 configuration (no room for surround back) and it is a huge difference. I really recommend the modules if you are able. They are fantastic.
Thanks for the advice but the modules will not work in my situation since I have my front three speakers in for sub offers behind 150 inch acoustic transparent screen. Modules would not work well in that environment plus my understanding the best option is in ceiling speakers so I will go with four in ceiling speakers
At the post house I work out we are getting certified in Atmos and Atmos vision. The audio engineer we have is really sharp and it's challenging him. We are trying to get into authorship and it is very technical and complicated. When my boss and I setup a room, it was really amazing hearing Dolby's sample content with rain and other objects. I'm probably going to set it up in my apartment.
Just installed mine today (finished it) and you know you did it right... while playing the demo of the rain the animals take off for cover , I did mine in ceiling mounts, sounds fantastic using the TX-RZ720.
Great video Love watching your video! I just upgraded to Atmos my self with the Pioneers Vsx-lx102 it’s such a upgrade from my 5.1 I had I have 2 book self 2 in roof and a 4 little Sony speakers on the wall 2 front heights and 2 backs and center 5.1.2 didn’t think it would do so well was a crazy idea but the sound is incredible no matter what you use definitely worth the investment and looking into upgrading when you do! Will not be disappointed 😊👌👍
When playing older 7.1 or 5.1 non-Atmos content or even 2.0 Dolby Digital on an Atmos system, would the Atmos channels just disable since there is nothing on the source? And/or is it a preference within the receiver settings to use a DSP for simulated Atmos (which I would prefer not to do probably)? Thanks in advance!
Enjoyed your video. You got me itching to upgrade to Dolby Atmos. I am currently running 7.2 with Chane speakers, SVS and Dayton Audio Ultimax 18 subs. My receiver is acted as pre-amp for my QSC DCA 1644 amps.
Hi Youthman. Great video which helped my understanding of Atmos and general home theatre set-up. Until I upgrade by running ceiling cables I am very happy with high wall mounted rear speakers. (Using Denon AVR 2300 amp.) Thankyou. Cheers from New Zealand
@Youthman Hey my friend. I have a question. I have a 9 channels pioneer AVR and i have a set up of 7.1.2. I see so many videos where they have an Amp in additional to their AVR. Whnd is when i need and Amp? Sorry I am new ant Home Theaters and leaning as aI go. Thank man. Your vids are great
Thanks Youthman, I'm about to upgrade my home theather from 7.1 to 5.1.4 or 7.1.4. I just ordered my Pre Pro Marantz AV 7706/ 3 Outlaws 2200,O utlaw 7000x and 5000. I have 5 polk audio RTI and 6 polk audio monitor speakers 2 polk audio pws 505 and an 404 10. LG 77" C1. When I hooked up my C1 to my old Pioneer SC05 with both amps 5000 and 7000X My front left and center output blow out. I did use Y connectors to Bi amp my front stage. So now hopefully my new gear won't blow up like my old receiver did. Keep up your great work and thanks always. I found your channel from Tecno Dad. Shout out.
respected sir, I want to play dolby movie in pc. And I want connect 10.2.4 speaker system to pc but i don't know which sound card should I use. Please sir help me
Hi YM! Happy Thanks giving here in Canada! I window shop today and saw a Klipsch R-41SA DAtmos speakers. my AVR is 7.2 channel and currently have 5.1 set-up. Can I just place these speakers on top of my front bookshelfs (in lieau of back surrounds) -- How should i set those up in my Denon (S960H)? Thank you!
Hi: I currently have a 5.1.2 setup, and I've topped my Denon AVR. However I want to upgrade to a 9.2 setup, however I don't know which setup will get the most out of it, what would you suggest...a 7.1.2 or a 5.1.4? P.S: The space that I have for the home theater, so speakers and tv are not separated. Like I'm 6 feet away from the TV (65"), and probably 3 feet away from the surround speakers from the back.
Hi, wondering whether you could give me an advice. Planning to install some ceiling speakers. My room is 10 feet width by 13 1/2 feet length (wall to wall measurement). Using a 100 inch projector requires an optimal distance of almost 10 feet which requires me to position the couch close to the end. Currently, running 5.1 setup and planning to install some ceiling speaker. Would you suggest I install 4 ceiling speaker or 2 speaker. If I go for the 4 speaker setup, I would be force to install the ceiling speaker almost directly on top of me as I do not have enough space behind the couch as its too close to the back already. Hope to hear some advice from you. Many thanks..
Hey Youthman. Thanks for the video, awesome stuff. Just have a quick ?. I'm starting off my HT and want to know how bad an idea is it to use the R51's as L/R along with the RP 500C. Once the budget allows im looking at the RP 5000 or RP 6000. I'm going to be getting a Denon X1600H. Are there any videos you have done perhaps on mixing the two lines? Both are 5 inch so I'm hoping it won't be a trainsmash. Thanks, Suveer
could you do a video on how to get two amplifiers two work with dolby atmos because my amplifier will only support 5.2.2 and i would like the extra two channels
I have a seating arrangement similar to yours (3 theater seats in front 4 in back on the riser). What's the best placement for the Atmos? Do the 1st 2 go in front or side of the fronts seats and the other 2 go in front or side of the rear seating? I can't seem to find any useful videos that show where to place the Atmos speakers when you have more then 1 seating area. Thanks
I am curious about Dolby Atmos and thinking about upgrading to it. If the movie you're watching doesn't offer it will your ceiling speakers still play, and does the ceiling speaker have to be Dolby Atmos specific, or can i use a couple of bookshelf speakers? Thanks for sharing
Hi I have a Klipsch RP 8000 Towers and the klipsch SW120 subwoofer and a JBL 10" Downfiring subwoofer. is it okay to build cabinets to make it neater. Will there be an impact in the sound when you put your towers to a cabinet and the subwoofers to a cabinet. Appreciate your guidance and comments. Thank you.
Slowly working my way to the right set up. Currently have 2 RP8000f for my mains, will soon add a RP504c for my center. New AVR and a emotiva 3ch amp to run my front stage. I have 1 set of R51m with will take up rear duties and 1 R112sw for my low end. Will add some in ceiling reference klipsch for my atmos ch all in the next yr. Your channel has been extremely helpful and entertaining to watch over the past few months. Keep up the great work we all appreciate all that you do here.
Another great video Youthman!!!! Thanks for replying to my other comment. I think there needs to be more content. We will see if Dolby Atmos will catch on.
Thanks John. I believe lack of content is always the struggle with any new technology. 4K was the same way when it was first introduced. I guess it just takes time.
Is it possible to have the rear surrounds in a 7.1.2 in a 8ft ceiling if the atmos speakers are in a 10ft ceiling (box ceiling). Problem is i cant do in wall in the rear because of windows and a french door. I think i can accomplish this with ones with movable directional tweeter/woofer but not sure
Very well detailed video, I'll definitely try out DTS:X and Dolby Atmos when I move into a better place, the apartment I'm currently living in unfortunately I only have enough space for basic 5.1 or even 7.1 setup.
Yeah, I'm not there yet but have been considering adding ATMOS to my room. I will need to buy 4 in-ceiling speakers, a new receiver and likely a 2ch amp as many receivers cannot power 7 speakers + 4 Atmos speakers
Youthman When I'm ready, all I have to do is buy a 7.2 receiver (5.1.2 is all I want) and probably Klipsch or SVS Atmos speakers, I wish you the best of luck!
I recently upgraded to sony-str-dn1070 7.2 AV Receiver(for room size LWH 24*12*10 ft)it produces 165W per channel, \i\m confused in choosing the suitable subs and surround speakers 1)already have 150W active Sub Pioneer S-31 W. Receiver produces 165W & Sub power is 150W RMS does it affect this Sub? 2)Can I hook 1 or 2 passive sub woofer( or car sub JBL Stage 1010) directly to my receiver? reason active subs are costly 3)have surround speakers Pioneer S-11 package(Max input power is 150W) can I use it? 4)suggest some surround speakers, look wise I like compact speakers but I need better audio quality. 5)small or big speakers which is better for my room? 6)why ATMOS speakers are costly ? its just tilted or it has an engine inside the speaker box? :) I don't want loud sound, need deep bass and crystal clear audio. Mostly watching movies & Music
Nice video. Dolby atmos, hearing it for the first time. I’m interested to build a home theater and researching the ideas for the projector, sound, lights, paints etc. still searching. Thank you 🙏🏻
I have installed 3 atmos systems one in my home one for a friend and the last one for my father in law. Two where Klipsch setups and the one at my father in laws is a jbl setup. I have been very pleased with the formate.
Im currently running 7.1 ch Klipsch speakers. And prefer not to cut hole from my ceiling, how bad really for atmos speakers firing upward compared to the ceiling atmos speakers?
Hi Jasbier, I have only owned two projectors and they were both Panasonic. I wanted something that would easily switch between 2.35:1 aspect ratio and 16:9 aspect ratio. At the time and Panasonic and JVC were the only two that had a Lens memory feature. JVC was almost twice the cost of the Panasonic so I went with the Panasonic AE3000u for my first projector and now have since upgraded to the Panasonic AE8000u. The AE8000u looks fantastic on my 150" screen. The Epson 5040UBe has been receiving great reviews and is on most
Hello Youthman, I am seeking for experience of 5.1.4 setup with, "2 Front Height + 2 Top Middle". Unfortunately I am unable to put anything behind the MLP due to the skew attic ceiling of the roof. The 2 Top Middle is slightly in front (~50 cm) of my MLP, and the 2 Front Height is a no brainer above my fronts. The ceiling is 268 cm height. Is it worth it for Atmos, or should I stick to only 5.1.2 (with 2 Top Middle)?
Hi, I was planning to set up a 5.1.2 home theatre setup with following components based on information obtained from internet. Kindly suggest any modifications. Thanks AVR- Denon S750H Subwoofer- Polk HTS10 Center speaker- Q acoustic 3090i FL and FR- Q acoustic 3020i SL and SR as well as atmos- micca M8C/M6C (ceiling mounted only)- please suggest 6in or 8in preferable with this combination Oxygen free pure copper cable 16G and 48mbps HDMI cable
I've just bought a Pioneer Dolby Atmos amp and a nice set of B&w speakers (enough for Dolby Atmos sytstem) and I have a really nice Panasonic 4K dvd player . And I'm just wondering about the 4K films do they have Dolby Atmos sound ?or only selected films? Oh and does my dvd player have to be Dolby Atmos?
Hi Paul, congrats on the new gear and speakers! I've owned a few pair of B&W speakers over the years and enjoyed them. HD disks as well as bluray disks are encoded differently. Some blurays are encoded using Dolby TrueHD while others are in DTS-Master. HD disks are typically encoded in Atmos, DTS-X or Auro-3D. You can see which format they use on the back of case of the disk. If you set your 4K player to send the data as Bitstream, your receiver will decode the audio.
Hey Youthman I re-did my family room and use for my fronts Def. tech in wall speakers right, center, and left. Then I did the rest in-ceiling with the 2 back, 2 back surround, and 4 atmos in the center of the ceiling with 2 10 inch sub's for a 7.2.4 set up with onkyo receiver. Had no amps just the receiver and it sounded so good friends and family could not believe it. I just sold the house and now i am having one built but this time I see Denon just came out with a new 8500 receiver that you can have 6 dolby atmos for 7.2.6 set up. You really should try it you will love it.
Awesome Ronnie! Nelson mentioned he was going to add 3 more in-ceiling speakers. I didn't even know they had a 7.2.6 until last night. LOL. I have a lot to learn about Atmos and Auro-3D.
I have yet to stumble onto a video explaining how to setup an atmos system and not just have a system see it as 7.1.1 ( I know that atmos will not engage unless there is an atmos signal) or if the side surrounds actually need to be up-firing design (if you have seen a definitive video pleas link it to me)
Yes I’ve been trying for 3 days to hook up the speakers..2 front towers, two front surround, two rear surround;and center channel, and sub woofer. So how do I get them hooked up;so the two towers sound first in the speaker daisy chain.
Hello @youthman thanks for your videos , you know, I have in mind to buy 2 Klipsh R800F and RP504 II speakers for the center channel, do you know how good they are and would you recommend them, thank you
Youthman, thanks for this video. I have Dolby Atmos but I barely hear them. Would be ok to crank up the level a few notches? Thanks again for the info!
Absolutely. I like to level match all of my speakers and bump up my Susan’s 3-5dB. Sometimes it’s about preference. I just recommend keeping your trim levels at 0dB or below to prevent distortion
Bro, youre the man. I live in ATL. Im lookin to get a good klipsch setup, whats your advice on what to get? Mainly for movie watching. I will go with an atmos setup. Like you i want a 7.2.4 in the ceiling speakers. What receiver brand you like? Ive had good luck with Denon myself. Great videos. Thanks.
Thanks Wade. The setup that you saw in that video is from a friend of mine that lives near Atlanta. You might could reach out to him on his channel to see if he might be willing to have you over for a demo. Check out Dave's channel at - czcams.com/users/superdaved2videos He has an AMAZING setup using the RF-82 II mains, RC-62 II center and RB-81 II surrounds. The RB-82 II is a fantastic middle of the road system (not Klipsch's top tier but not the entry level either). I've used Yamaha, Onkyo, and Harman Kardon over the years and enjoy each of them.
With a 5.1.2 setup is better to have front or rear ceiling speaker? Thanks. Some 7.2 receiver can extend two speakers on 5.1 setup to enable atmos and dts x, like to know the better ceiling position and channel 🤓 i can mount a pair of speaker on front but aligned to main L r channels, over my listening position, is it good anyway?
Dolby recommends for 5.1.2 to install your Atmos speakers in the front. This should help - www.dolby.com/us/en/guide/dolby-atmos-speaker-setup/5-1-2-setups.html
Thanks, I was also thinking about upper front speaker configuration, but is more like a Front L-R height extension, not handled like an atmos speaker. So i'll take a look, also because of Atmos poor content in Italian language, and considering Denon 1200W I can create 7.1 or 5.1.2. Let's see ;)
I have an lg OLED 55 B9 tv but it seems like I can't use Netflix or any other Dolby Atmos supporting content playing on my tv through my system, but it only works on the internal speakers. Hope you get back and maybe clear up why this isn't working.
Hello Youthman, I've been running Dolby Atmos 7.2.4 since 2016 when I purchased my Marantz SR7010. I have two Klipsch CDT-5650-C II in ceiling speakers as well as the RP-280FA with built-in Atmos modules. Techno Dad inspired my to purchase these speakers in 2016 when I seen him leaning on them in one of his videos. I would like to do 7.2.6 but my receiver will not support it. That would have been awesome. My room size is 11x19x8 Thanks Guys
Hello Youthman. Thank you for providing all these informative videos. We haveived to Dolby Atmos, but what about center speaker placement? Does positioning make a difference (i.e. horizontal vs. vertical)?
@@Youthman Thank you for your reply! In your experience, would it be acceptable to use a Klipsch RP 504C or RC64 III vertically or would sound quality degrade?
I haven't had the opportunity to hear any of SVS's speakers yet but this week they are shipping me a pair of their Ultra Towers to review so stay tuned! I'll check out their website for the Elevation speakers. Thanks for watching!
Hi! My name is krishna. I have Sony STR-DN1080 receiver. Honestly I got one question. You may have solution for this. Actually I am having problem to setup my Dolby Atmos system. I don’t know which gives better sounds. Either 7.2 or 5.1.2.?
Good video.I chose in ceiling speakers over atmos modules.I love atmos, the only issue is finding enough content to watch in atmos.I find myself sometimes just watching the atmos demo disk.lol
I have 167 4k movies and about 75% of them have Dolby Atmos (and the remainder have DTS-X). The majority of the 4K releases are going to have Dolby Atmos or DTS-X it seems these days. That is the primary reason I made the decision to purchase 4K movies was to get the immersive audio and specifically Dolby Atmos.
Thanks for your video, I'm watching from Hong Kong, when I get back home to Canada I hope to build a nice home theater. I have an 8' x 14' room to work with thats all mine. Do you have any suggestions on the best setup for that room. I have construction skills amd own my home, so modifying the room is a-ok. Thanks!
Hello from the US! I love being able to connect with others from around the world. My son has the RF-7 II and RC-64 II in his 12x12 bedroom. A lot depends on your budget and what sounds good to your ears. Do you have any Klipsch dealers nearby that you can go listen to?
I looked into dealers nearby and I don't see any specific shops for that in my small town. Besides the generic stores like walmart and best buy wish will probably never carry that brand. I actually love JBL, it was always my first love since I was a kid. I got a pair of desktop computer speakers when I was 10 I think? that would have been 24 years ago! Since then I have always loved JBL. My real struggle isn't about the equipment perse' , it's the layout of the room design. Do you have any videos or suggestions for a small room at 8'x14'? Thanks!
Hey Youthman thank you for the nice videos Can you help me? Im looking for dolby Atmos in ceiling speakers i can get for quiet cheap de cdt 3800 mk2 is there really so much different for the 5800 mk2 ? Can you hear that alot i have just a living room ! Hope you can help me !
Hi Youthman, I have watched many of your videos and thank you so much for all your videoes about Klipsch. I am planning to get a pair of Rf7iii speakers. I remembered in one of your video you mentioned Cory for good pricing. Can you please share the price info for that set of speakers?
So There is no 5.2? I have a Pioneer Andrew Jones system. Left & Right channel speakers with upfiring modules on each...2 Def tech pro1000 subs and two rears also with upfiring modules each. So technically 9 speaker and 2 subs. What’s that, numerically satin ? Thanks
So sounds like you have a 5.2.4. The first number is the number of floor level speakers, Second number is the amount of sub channels And the third is how many ATMOS or height channels
Hello, I heard about these configs.. and I knew that they meant.. first number is the number of speakers you have on a horizontal line. Second number is your woofers and third number is your ceiling speakers or modules. But I've seen videos with BOTH 4 ceiling speakers AND 4 wall mount modules.. What does that create, 7.2.8? And is it possible to make? and if yes, how do you connect them properly on A/V receiver with a possible extended receiver?
Great question. I believe you are correct with the 7.2.8 naming. You would not be able to connect multiple receivers together, but instead would need to purchase A receiver that supports that many channels. For example, accuracy makes an ACT4 with 20 channels of processing www.acurusav.com/act-4-specifications/. Problem is it’s $10,000. Emotiva is still developing their new RMC-1 which is a 16ch processor emotiva.com/collections/processors/products/rmc-1 but I would not hold your breath for that one. It typically takes them three or four years to develop a new product in the area of processors
If you have a two tower speakers;as your front speakers;and two front/2 rear surround speakers;and one sub set up;how do you hook them in order as suggested?
Hi Jesse I’m not sure what you are asking. Are you wanting to know how to physically connect them to your receiver or are you asking about how to calibrate them with room correction software like Audyssey?
At my house i would love to do a 5.2 atmos system, but i have no way to mount my rear surrounds at the same height as the front. Would an angled adjustable ceiling speaker work. Please help.
I didn’t either so I mounted the sides a bit higher and the rears are angled towards the listening area. We all have limitations and sometimes you have to do the best with what you have
I have links to all of the gear in Dave’s System in the description of this video. If you are looking for how to videos, I’m sure there are plenty on CZcams that can walk you through it.
Hi, I have a Denon AVR-S720W, it is a Dolby Atmos. Also My speaker configuration is 7.1 I think there is a big difference in sound separation when listening with Atmos on. I do not have ceiling speakers(or Atmos ) but I do use Bose acoustimas up at my ceiling on the wall, front and center and back, the sides are ear level.I did research that if I used in ceasing over sitting area, I would lose the back surround speakers, so decided against. So You know when listening to a disc(Jumanji welcome to the jungle) the separation is AWSOME and a lot different than just the normal 7.1 surround sound. Figured You would like to know.
I’m settting up a klipsch reference hoke theater. So far I have 2 r 820s, 2 r 120sw, ordered 2 klipsch ceiling 8 inch speaker, but not sure the best center channel speaker to get. Any help would be great. I was thinking about the rp 504c. But I watch all these big set ups and no one has it.
Hi Brian, if you have the RP-820F, this is the system that was meant to go together - www.klipsch.com/products/r-820f-5-1-2-dolby-atmos-home-theater-system. The R34C is the center that is voice matched to your mains. I have the RP-504C in for review. Check out the Unboxing / Overview video here - czcams.com/video/REisqqnTU2s/video.html. It is designed to go with the RP-8060FA or RP-8000F speakers from the All New Reference Premiere Series.
The center and subwoofer are in my opinion the two most important speakers in a home theater. I don’t think you can go overkill on it. I’m just not sure how it will sound with the R-820F
I never bought into adding height or wide channels but with Dolby ATMOS, I feel it’s bringing a whole new experience to the world of audio. Everything I have read suggests adding 4 ATMOS speakers as opposed to only adding two. I guess it’s similar to trying to obtain “surround sound” using only your front two speakers
If you do decide to buy a pair or two pair, if you don’t mind, I can send you my affiliate link. Same cost to you, SVS just gives me a small commission for the referral
A pair of RP-280F, absolutely. The RP-280F have a sensitivity rated of 98db which means when Klipsch fed the speaker 1 watt and had a mic at 1 meter, the db meter read 98db. It takes twice the power to increase 3db in volume. So if we do the math: 1 watt = 98db 2 watts = 101db 4 watts = 104db 8 watts = 107db 16 watts = 110db 32 watts = 113db 64 watts = 116db 128 watts = 119db 256 watts = 122db The 5012 is rated at 100 watts with 2 channels driven . Of course you don't sit 3' from your speakers so distance away from the speakers will reduce those numbers but you get the idea. Because the 5012 is rated at 2ch driven, that tells me that if you hook up more speakers, the wattage per speaker will be less than 100 watts per channel. Will this always be a 2ch system or do you plan on adding more speakers down the road?
I am waiting on polk audio xt90 to put on my ceiling. I have been using mordant short mezzo range. Got 5.1 with the mezzo 2's as surrounds and for front heights too. I got the Sony str dn1080. I can only add 1 pair of atmos speakers. But tbh my room is not huge so it is adequate for me. Maybe you won't know but maybe I am doing the wrong thing y mixing these budget polk audio speakers with these mezzo range ones. It already sounds great but I want to be able to put speakers on my ceiling as I am positive it will be even more immersive that way. But not even got the polk audio ones and wonder if this is a bad move. It is just I think the placement will be better. Also heard something about you don't want lower frequency on the as rmoa speakers as lower frequency will affect how clear you hear where the sound is coming from. I am not sure but at least it's not set in stone. I can only try it and if I don't like it, I can just put it back the way it is at present. I don't have loads of money but for me at the time my speakers and sub cost just under £270,000. Which was about as much as I could spend on a speaker set up at that time. For me it is a lot of money but given size of my room it was probably ideal anyway and those speakers have done me for a long time. Not planning to upgrade any time soon. When I bought those speakers my av receiver at the time did not have atmos. So the situation was I wanted atmos but didn't feel like upgrading my speaker set up again, as I love the look and sound of them and had been wanting them for a while before I finally got them, so upgrading the lot even now for me is out of the question. But wanting to get my atmos to sound better as so far from what I heard I am very impressed. Literally adds another dimension to the sound. P. S. Again. Got to mention I live in a semi detached house. Fortunately my only direct neighbours house is not joined onto my main room but the bedrooms upstairs join on through the wall from each other downstairs is not as it has what's called a pend between the houses. Which is why I wanted this house as at least my neighbour is not directly through the wall from my main room. All this said I am still limited in a way to what I can do here sound wise anyway. So far so good, been here 8 years.
Yep, run 9.1 AURO 3D/ DTSX or 5.1.4 Atmos set up. So whether i have native immersive mixes or not i can use my upmixers AURO 3D > DTS NERUAL X > DOLBY SURROUND(DSU) I can have the best immersive experience in my HT/Media room
Youthman, didn't know you had a youtube page. Good to see you on here! I'm finally getting a basement where I can fully take advantage of my Klipsch. Not sure if I want to cut into the ceiling or just use the up firing speakers...Either way will get to 7.2.4.
Hi Ivan! Good to see you bro. Yes I have a ton of videos on my channel, trying to produce 1 to 2 videos per week. Congrats on the basement that’s going to be awesome. I wish my room was a bit larger but I’m not complaining. I feel extremely blessed to even have a dedicated theater room. Cutting holes in the ceilings are definitely more work, but from what I’ve heard that’s the best method which is why I went with it
I've heard that as well. For my current setup in my little townhouse I have 7.2.2 with the up firing. I just don't know if I can really hear it sometimes. Maybe expanding to 4 will do the trick. I'm just not sure how long I'll be in the house I'm about to get, so cutting into the ceiling I'm just not 100% on. It'll also be a lot cheaper just to get another set of the 140s than to put 4 speakers in the ceiling.
Yeah I can totally see that. Gene from Audioholics calls them “bouncy house speakers”. He has a whole lot more experience with Atmos speakers and demoing different format than I have but he apparently definitely does not like that up firing Atmos speakers.
I LOVE DOLBY ATMOS (AND DTS:X, which is basically the same). Have 2 height speakers, not 4. SOUNDS FANTASTIC. Have 2 subwoofers, but only one seems to work with receiver, even though receiver has both connected. Only way to watch a movie now is with the ATMOS/DTS:X. I have had atmos/DTS:X receiver since 2015. In one of the Jurassics, dinosaur on roof, and in upper right speaker on ceiling, can hear it walking on the roof; in JACK REACHER sequel, guy disappears off screen as they run across the roof, and all you hear is the guys footsetps in the upper left speaker on the ceiling; in HALLOWEEN, jamie Curtis moves kitchen counter which moves to the side, and you hear it moving in the one speaker on the ceiling.
Well I have a a dolby Atmos receiver But I Do have some Dolby Atmos Enabled movies as well as a couple of video games That have Dolby Atmos Sound Technology In Them. But Sense I do not have the Speaker Setup for it though. I have not had the opportunity to Listen to a Full Dolby Atmos Setup
Hey youthman.... I knew you from Klipsch forums around 2010-2013.... very helpful then and these videos are super helpful once again. I moved from Polk all the way up to klipsch rf7ii rf64ii system with eD A5-350's. Many iterations along the way. My subs died and now my AVR is out of date so I'm back in the market and looking for help so thanks again.
My room is 12 deep x 16 wide. I'd like to atmos if that is going to be the norm for future bluray. No real budget....Just want something up to date. Even with my small room I have a spot for a couple above seating position Atmos.... but I do t want to just give my money away if atmos is gonna go by the way side like 6.1 lol ya know
i would like to ask you question. is it Yamaha good brand for home theater? i see most people on youtube like Denon and Marrant. i have plan to upgrade a new receiver. thank you so much
Hey Youthman. Great seeing your set up. I used to sell Klipsh speakers in the 80's and 90's. Back then Klipsch "unfinished" LaScallas (named after the LaScalla opera house) went for about $1600 a pair, $2,000 finished in Walnut. A fully finished Bell Klipsch was about $1400 each. They were basically finished La Scallas that look furniture like enough for Paul Klipsch's wife, Bell. The smallest Klipsch speaker then was called the "Heresy". Klipsch's marketing department (a couple salesman) insisted he design a smaller speaker. He said that would be heresy, and so it was ... LOL. Finished Heresy 1s went for maybe $650 a pair in the early 80's. Then, of course, there were the huge corner only placed Klipsh "Klipschorn's" (Klipsch Corner Horn). Back then $3,000 a pair. Today? $20k and up! I met Paul when he was 92 and still flying his own plane. A truly AMAZING man!
I was looking for information on how to set up a 7.1.2 using either rear or elevated speakers or a zone 2. But I found this video void of any technical information.
To be clear the .1 is the LFE channel. And yes it is reproduced by the sub. That same subwoofer may also reproduce the low frequencies of other channels which might be set to “small” in the processor. If two subs are utilized it is NOT to be referred to as a 5.2 or 7.2. The .1 only references the LFE channel as specified by Dolby and DTS.
i havent upgraded to atmos yet either i still have a 5.4 setup and very happy with it....like you i would have to upgrade my reciever and install 4 ceilling speakers..do you think its worth it to upgrade yet..?is there enought atmos content out there and dtsx..whats your thoghts..?..i would rather upgrade my speakers first...love your videos...im a new subscriber....lol
Thanks John, I’m going to move forward with ATMOS as I feel that even if there is a new format that becomes available, they will utilize speakers from above. Is it worth the investment...I really won’t know until I have it lol
I have owned Parasound, B&K and Sherbourn. All three were fantastic amps. Lots of great options out there. I can send you a few specific recommendations when I get back in town in a few days. How many channels do you need to Power? What speakers are you driving?
i need 7.1 channel and currently i don't have any speakers and subwoofer i have to buy all thinks. so please recommend and help to buying best products
Glad to hear that. Here is another video that might help czcams.com/video/pLqm_h7Ic1c/video.html and I also have an entire playlist of videos on Dolby Atmos here - czcams.com/play/PLlM19BsA_lkYhSuyHmzQMem8UkDlEbxOs.html
I have a question Youth Man. I was wondering you had $2,500 for one sub or dual sub he won't. Which sub would you get? SVS or jtr? What year did I have rf-62 Towers RS 42 surrounds . and sa140 Dolby Atmos speakers. Rc62 ii Center channel and Klipsch Reference R-112SW sub. And I have a Marantz 6012 receiver. This will mainly be for my home theater which would be the living room in my main living area. I would really appreciate your expertise. Hope to hear from you
@@Youthman wow thank you for responding I really appreciate it. So for my home you don't recommend the captivator S2? Would that be too much power? I always thought the SVS was the best way to go until I saw your video. With the Klipsch la scala's and the two captivator S2. If I had the money I would definitely buy Klipsch lascala. I'm also going to have 2 in ceiling speakers in my new house. For rear Dolby Atmos. Angel what do you recommend for those? Oh and I was on their website I thought for movies that you wanted a ported box? I think I'll go with the captivator rs1 if that's what you think.
@@jasonbovey9480 I recommended the RS1 because you stated your budget was $2500. The RS1 is $2600 and the RS2 are $3500. I have not heard the RS1. They should be similar in performance Some guys like ported, others like sealed. I typically like ported for smaller subs but with (4) 18's, there certainly is not a lack of output LOL
@@Youthman all right I'll probably go rs1 do you have any idea what I was also looking at the SVS PB 4000. I was just reading online about having ported is really better for movies and sealed is better for music. But I think you're right even want 18 in sub sealed should do the trick for what I'm trying to do. I'm sure you'll notice a huge difference thanks again man
@@jasonbovey9480 I cannot image a PB3000 coming anywhere near the performance of the RS1. I mentioned in this video czcams.com/video/ikNZuUhjP6w/video.html what you did regarding ported / sealed and how I've always heard that as well.
I demo'd a Klipsch Home Cinema a few years ago and I found that their speakers were too twangy or tingy for my ears. I instead went with a full JTR 7.2 setup. Had to sell a kidney and a heart just to afford my setup but hands down I do not regret doing so. Now I'm looking at upgrading my AVR for D-Atmos and looking into any info on whether it's worth it.
Nothing wrong with that at all. There are a lot of great speaker manufacturers. I’ve only heard about JTR subs. They say the orbit shifter is ridiculous. I too am currently looking into moving to Atmos. I’m Considering the Denon 6400
That is surprising to me? I've been into home theater for a long time and sold high-end electronics for many years. I use Klipsch myself and always recommend them to friends. I think you may be the first person to call them "tingy." Of course sound is subjective so, as always, YMMV...
Dargone007 I too was directed to Klipsch audio by several friends when I was building my home cinema. But after demo'ing another friends JTR setup I was blown awayby the difference in sound. At the time JTR was still fairly unknown and their prices were through the roof. However there is no denying their sound quality.
I use 4 atmos speakers in my ceiling. I also have a dedicated theater/media room. I think the atmos speakers that bounce the sound off the ceiling are noticeably worse than in ceiling speakers. If you are able to mount your speakers in the ceiling, then do it.
That’s exactly what Dolby recommends. Audioholics calls them “Bouncy House” speakers. Those are made as a convenience and for those that don’t want to cut holes in their ceiling.

Thank you Youthman, Great video!! It was my pleasure to have you over to demo the system. I also really enjoyed your system as well!
SuperDave
SuperDave Rocks!
Great video man! Crystal clear explanation! I also had to go with height channels as opposed to Atmos modules. Keep up the great work!
Techno Dad Appreciate it. Do you have 2 or 4 ATMOS speakers?
Thanks Tristan. You can only be who you are
Just installed mine today (finished it) and you know you did it right... while playing the demo of the rain the animals take off for cover , I did mine in ceiling mounts, sounds fantastic using the TX-RZ720.
Awesome Clay! I’ve been so busy with out of state guests and installing, I have only had a few minutes to hear them. Liking what I’m hearing so far.
Yes! I'm using txrz730 and adding atmos in a few short days. Ceiling speakers are cheap so im a little worried but still excited
I’m ready...just will be a few months
Thanks Tony!
Thank you!
Have you upgraded to Atmos yet?
I have 5.1.4 in my home. All Klipsch R and RP series.
Which better in 5.1.2 vs 7.1..I have a 7.2 Denon avr and behind wall space in 2 fit only.. thanks in advance.
Hey Youthman! Noticed you had an Optoma UHD65 setup. What happened to that?
ColonielLizardT4 Best wishes to you as well!
Thanks for the great info Youthman, keep up the good work.
superandroidphone Thanks. I just uploaded a new video! Thanks for watching
I recently upgraded to sony-str-dn1070 7.2 AV Receiver(for room size LWH 24*12*10 ft)it produces 165W per channel, \i\m confused in choosing the suitable subs and surround speakers
1)already have 150W active Sub Pioneer S-31 W. Receiver produces 165W & Sub power is 150W RMS does it affect this Sub?
2)Can I hook 1 or 2 passive sub woofer( or car sub JBL Stage 1010) directly to my receiver? reason active subs are costly
3)have surround speakers Pioneer S-11 package(Max input power is 150W) can I use it?
4)suggest some surround speakers, look wise I like compact speakers but I need better audio quality.
5)small or big speakers which is better for my room?
6)why ATMOS speakers are costly ? its just tilted or it has an engine inside the speaker box? :)
I don't want loud sound, need deep bass and crystal clear audio. Mostly watching movies & Music
Very good content here explained very well..learned a lot, will be upgrading my 7.2 sys to a 7.2.2 for sure
Thanks! Glad you found the video helpful. I recently added ATMOS to my setup for a 7.2.4. Here is the video - czcams.com/video/kx3MhkqlGaY/video.html
Nice video. Dolby atmos, hearing it for the first time. I’m interested to build a home theater and researching the ideas for the projector, sound, lights, paints etc. still searching. Thank you 🙏🏻
Thanks Jasbler. I have several videos on my channel that might give you some ideas. Also check out the AVS Forums.
Youthman thank you sir, I will check the videos and if needed will get back to you 🙏🏻😊
Thanks have fun building your setup
I have installed 3 atmos systems one in my home one for a friend and the last one for my father in law. Two where Klipsch setups and the one at my father in laws is a jbl setup. I have been very pleased with the formate.
I am looking forward to adding Atmos to my setup hopefully later this year. Thanks for watching.
Im currently running 7.1 ch Klipsch speakers. And prefer not to cut hole from my ceiling, how bad really for atmos speakers firing upward compared to the ceiling atmos speakers?
Is it okay to connect this Acoustic Audio speakers with my AVR, will it be compatible. It has more wattage but the size of the drive is just 3inches.
Hey, do you recommend Epson 5040UBe projector 📽 for home theater or there is something better? Thank you 😊
Hi Jasbier, I have only owned two projectors and they were both Panasonic.
The Epson 5040UBe has been receiving great reviews and is on most
Hey guys just wondering if movies on Netflix and CZcams will have dolby atmos? I have just set up a 5.1.2 dolby atmos system with a Denon avrx1400.
Hello Youthman,
I am seeking for experience of 5.1.4 setup with, "2 Front Height + 2 Top Middle".
Thanks
AVR- Denon S750H
Subwoofer- Polk HTS10
Center speaker- Q acoustic 3090i
FL and FR- Q acoustic 3020i
SL and SR as well as atmos- micca M8C/M6C (ceiling mounted only)- please suggest 6in or 8in preferable with this combination
Oxygen free pure copper cable 16G and 48mbps HDMI cable
What receiver are you using? Each speaker is connected to your receiver. You don’t want to “daisy chain” your speakers together
Hello @youthman thanks for your videos , you know, I have in mind to buy 2 Klipsh R800F and RP504 II speakers for the center channel, do you know how good they are and would you recommend them, thank you
Can a atmos abled 5.1 channel blue ray player like sony bupx700 produce atmos 5.1.4 effect if put through a 9.1 av receiver ?
J Thomas
What are the room dimensions for 5.1.2, 7.1.2 and 7.1.4 systems??
There is one thing that I don't understand, regularly atmos bluy ray movies are made for 5.1 or 7.1 and how many overhead speakers?
Sir, I have a short film which is in .dpx format. How can I play that at home?
Not sure. Might have to google that one
Thank you! This video answered so many questions. You made very easy to understand! Thank you!
So glad you found the video helpful. I have a lot of other videos on the channel that you might find beneficial as well.
Let's see ;)
Yes you can also add front height instead of a Atmos. I just never bought into the Front Height or Wide speakers. I felt it was a bit gimmicky.
My room size is 11x19x8
Thanks Guys
Sound like you have an awesome setup. Techno Dad and I are friends. Super cool guy
Is the Atmos setup worth it? i'm considering it but don't want to go through the hassle with in ceiling speakers if the upgrade isn't substantial
Only you can decide if it’s worth it. In my setup, I totally believe it’s worth it.
Hello Youthman. Thank you for providing all these informative videos. We haveived to Dolby Atmos, but what about center speaker placement? Does positioning make a difference (i.e. horizontal vs. vertical)?
If you can go with an LCR (identical front speakers), that will provide the best and most seamless front soundstage
@@Youthman Thank you for your reply! In your experience, would it be acceptable to use a Klipsch RP 504C or RC64 III vertically or would sound quality degrade?
I’m using the SVS elevation just one pair and it sound good but I’m thinking to get another pair
I haven't had the opportunity to hear any of SVS's speakers yet but this week they are shipping me a pair of their Ultra Towers to review so stay tuned! I'll check out their website for the Elevation speakers. Thanks for watching!
Do the svs elevation do the same job as ceiling speakers
In-Ceiling will give you the best performance, then Elevation Speakers then ATMOS Modules
Dukeoden7458 Yeah ATMOS modules wouldn’t work in my setup with the mains behind my screen anyways.
Netflix has some movies you can watch if you have an LG 2017 OLED, or Xbox One S/X.
Wow! Now that’s a movie collection!
This video is more about Dave than anything else lol.
Thanks!
My room is 13’ x 19’ and I have a lot of videos of my room on my channel.
I do enjoy the surround high tho. It does make rain sound impressive.
Hey Youthman thank you for the nice videos
Can you help me? Im looking for dolby Atmos in ceiling speakers i can get for quiet cheap de cdt 3800 mk2 is there really so much different for the 5800 mk2 ? Can you hear that alot i have just a living room ! Hope you can help me !
I have only owned the 5800 so unfortunately I cannot offer much advice on how different they will sound.
Hi Youthman, I have watched many of your videos and thank you so much for all your videoes about Klipsch.
I am planning to get a pair of Rf7iii speakers. I remembered in one of your video you mentioned Cory for good pricing. Can you please share the price info for that set of speakers?
Hi I don’t know what his current pricing is. His contact info can be found at www.paducahhometheater.com. Tell him Youthman sent you
@@Youthman thanks man! I sent him text. Hoping to get back from him soon.
@@Youthman I got a pair of rf7iii and a matching center channel from Cory today. Thank you for your help.
I just bought this Klipsch 5.0.2 kit and (2) 12" klipsch subwoofer. What receiver should I get.
Look into a Denon that fits your budget and has the features and number of channels you need
Can’t wait to get the galaxy s9 plus for stereo speakers and Dolby atmos.
At my house i would love to do a 5.2 atmos system, but i have no way to mount my rear surrounds at the same height as the front. Would an angled adjustable ceiling speaker work. Please help.
I didn’t either so I mounted the sides a bit higher and the rears are angled towards the listening area. We all have limitations and sometimes you have to do the best with what you have
Here is my setup czcams.com/video/9rQxNd1Lf38/video.html
Thank you appreciate your feed back.
Just set up Atmos, WOW, the klips atmos add-ons work really well
Awesome! Congrats on the new upgrades. I have not tested the Atmos Modules yet.
what size and kind of overhead speakers and how do u hook them up
I have links to all of the gear in Dave’s System in the description of this video. If you are looking for how to videos, I’m sure there are plenty on CZcams that can walk you through it.
Where do you even get the content that has the bits to run a 5.1.4/7.1.4 setup. Max I can find is 7.1
Look for content that is encoded with Dolby Atmos. The .4 in 7.1.4 are the Atmos Channels.
Thanks for the head's up Michael! Rock on my friend.
In your opinion would the 504c be over kill
The center and subwoofer are in my opinion the two most important speakers in a home theater. I don’t think you can go overkill on it. I’m just not sure how it will sound with the R-820F
Ok thank you very much for you time, love the videos I just subscribed
Am new and learning think about the Klipsch Reference R-26FA 7.1 Home Theater System but still looking tho
Great video thank you . My receiver is only a 7channel receiver I currently have a 5.1 set up you think adding 2 high channels will make a difference?
I never bought into adding height or wide channels but with Dolby ATMOS, I feel it’s bringing a whole new experience to the world of audio. Everything I have read suggests adding 4 ATMOS speakers as opposed to only adding two. I guess it’s similar to trying to obtain “surround sound” using only your front two speakers
Youthman i was Thinking to get 2 svs prime elevation speakers.
My friend Channa D (Techno Dad) has a pair and he’s looking to purchase a second pair. He really likes them
If you do decide to buy a pair or two pair, if you don’t mind, I can send you my affiliate link. Same cost to you, SVS just gives me a small commission for the referral
I have not heard them yet personally
Can I use Yamaha NS-IW280CWH 6.5" 3-Way In-Ceiling Speaker System for 7.1.2 Dolby Atmos for 2 ceiling speakers?
I don’t see why they would not work well for Atmos speakers.
Would a Marantz sr5012 be good enough to drive a pair of Klipsch RP-280F towers?
A pair of RP-280F, absolutely. The RP-280F have a sensitivity rated of 98db which means when Klipsch fed the speaker 1 watt and had a mic at 1 meter, the db meter read 98db. It takes twice the power to increase 3db in volume. So if we do the math:
1 watt = 98db
2 watts = 101db
4 watts = 104db
8 watts = 107db
16 watts = 110db
32 watts = 113db
64 watts = 116db
128 watts = 119db
256 watts = 122db
The 5012 is rated at 100 watts with 2 channels driven .
Youthman I may add more speakers down the road I’ll be running 2.1 for at least a year.
Sounds like you have quite a nice setup there MrSuperman!
Youthman its enjoyable
Hey Jason! Good to connect with you again. How many channels are you looking to get and what is your budget?
I have reviewed three receivers and several subs on my channel
My room is 12 deep x 16 wide. I'd like to atmos if that is going to be the norm for future bluray. No real budget....Just want something up to date. Even with my small room I have a spot for a couple above seating position Atmos.... but I do t want to just give my money away if atmos is gonna go by the way side like 6.1 lol ya know
I'm guessing that, if a Dolby Atmos is set up correctly and gets the correct input it can only enhance the sound so it's not a gimmick. Awesome :)
i would like to ask you question. is it Yamaha good brand for home theater? i see most people on youtube like Denon and Marrant. i have plan to upgrade a new receiver. thank you so much
I see ONKYO receivers alot I own one and love it. ONKYO TX-NR 777
I have owned only one Yamaha but liked it a lot. Yamaha makes good receivers as well. You just have to find the brand that you like
@@Youthman great video
Thank you kindly
I bet he would have been fun to be around
@@Youthman at 92, not so much, but in his younger years, I'm sure ... LOL Check this out for the sort of man he was: www.klipsch.com/founder
That was the entire point of the video. 😉
i havent upgraded to atmos yet either i still have a 5.4 setup and very happy with it....like you i would have to upgrade my reciever and install 4 ceilling speakers..do you think its worth it to upgrade yet..?is there enought atmos content out there and dtsx..whats your thoghts..?..i would rather upgrade my speakers first...love your videos...im a new subscriber....lol
Thanks John, I’m going to move forward with ATMOS as I feel that even if there is a new format that becomes available, they will utilize speakers from above. Is it worth the investment...I really won’t know until I have it lol
ok great thanks for the reply....i may only go with 2 atmos ceiling speakers bc the receiver that i can afford only supports 2 speakers..thanks
2 is better than 0. Have fun!
thank you i have alot more to learn lol
And I as well. I learn something new every day.
I assume if you have cathedral ceilings, Atmos is useless or greatly reduced/handicapped?
Correct. Atmos needs a flat ceiling to be effective
Planing to install Dolby in my newly constructed house
Please Recommend one of the best amplifier for the best base and surround experience
Video is so helpful thanks for video
Hope to hear from you
JTR’s are next level. The Captivator RS1 is a single 18 with a 2400 RMS amp with a frequency response down to 16Hz and under 10Hz in room response.
Great video,
Well spoken.
Dolby atoms is a must! Hopefully streaming will catch up as Apple TV does not run atmos
John Sisneros Thanks John.
But i going to update my Yamaha receiver next, what support Dolby Atmos/Dolby Vision!
I’ve been looking at the Denon 4400H or 6400H
Youthman it's japan product too as Yamaha is. I like Yamaha looks. Great!
I stumbled into this video to build atmos but now I need to build a home.
Tingy? I’m Not sure what that word even means. Did I say that in the video?
Youthman raspy in the highs and unnatural as compared to natural listening.
@@Youthman thanks for the feedback! I actually just ordered the new yamaha A3080 receiver. Can't wait to get it setup for my Dolby atmos speakers.
Awesome! That looks like it’s a sweet receiver! I owned an older Yamaha RX-V1800 and loved how it sounded.
