Our first dog was the most gentle, non-aggressive, calmest, and sweetest German shepherd you can imagine. And before she came to us I was scared as hell of dogs... We still miss her after 30 years...
My first dog was a Border Collie. She ran after every animal she saw. When she died I started buying pit bulls. Wonderful dogs but I had to keep them on a leash they would fight at the slightest provocation.
My first dog was half German Shephard, half wild wolf. He got in the shop yard and got the shop dog pregnant. My Dad brought one of the puppies home. He was HUGE (big puppy and even bigger adult) like I could ride him like a horse until I was 4. He used to pull me around in my wagon. I loved that dog.
Actually my first dog was half German shephard and half wild dragon. It was kinda cool when he was able to spit fire and fly. We had a great time together.
The mention labs but show a few Goldens. I must say there isn’t much difference in their positive qualities. I prefer Goldens because I perceive them to be more beautiful.
@@ronowens304 I noticed that they were showing goldens too. And goldens are a bit higher on the intelligence scale than the lab. Not that labs aren't intelligent. Goldens are the 4th smartest and labs are #7. I find labs that I've known to be very excitable. My golden has always been a bit more on the calm side. I guess I'm partial 😂
We have always had multiple dogs but my brother did not. He had a dog 40 yrs ago and then was gifted a goldendoodle from a client in his wife’s practice. He loved this dog to pieces-it was like two sides of the same coin. They would come together to visit me and help get my house ready to sell after hubs’ passing. The dog was perfect-playing with my cantankerous dog and winning it over. Then when he was ready to return home (an hour drive) we would go to a fast food place and then to empty soccer fields nearby where the dogs would both run their brains out and then he would leave from there with a pleasantly tired dog and I would return home with my dog to her falling asleep and sleeping most of the night-which she seldom did for a whole year after my hubs’ passing. That doodle was remarkable for sensing and responding to my brother, his wife, or me being down-coming over and placing a paw in our lap until we smiled. We don’t deserve the pureness of dogs.
My first dog was a pit bull I named Duncan, he was black and white and a rescue from the Las Vegas pound. He was my protector for my entire young life and truly one of my best friends ever. RIP I miss you my guardian, my best friend and my beloved companion.
A poodle. My great aunt was going into a nursing home and gave her dog to me. She was, no contest, the best, smartest, most amazing dog ever born. I still miss her
I grew up with a German Shepherd/Rottweiler mix I named Bandit (we had a cat named Smokey due to his grey fur, if anyone gets the subtle joke, thank you). He was like a brother for me for 15 years. He was hyper, goofy, and had an appetite like Scooby-Doo. He got really sick in his old age, so instead of letting him suffer… my mother and I brought him to the animal hospital. I still have his collar and the ashes in an urn. Hope to see you on Rainbow Bridge when my time comes, Bubba. Rest in peace
A husky lab mix. Her name was Kia. She was beautiful and gentle yet very stubborn and opinionated and always a cute way we lost her on December 26 of this year. My whole family misses her. She was such a great addition to our lives and we were so lucky to have her, I just wanted to to share her memory here and tell the world we all miss her and love her so much
I never owned a dog but I always played with my grandpa's dog, her name was Samantha but we called her Sam or Sammy. She was a good dog. Until she died after we moved out of my grandpa's house. I miss her. ❤
Mine was a husky who passed a few weeks ago he was the best dog ever and I miss so much I wish he could still be here. He lived 18 great years and wasn’t enough
My first dog was an English Springer Spaniel. So easy to train, incredible nature, very intelligent, and was a brilliant big brother when my babies came along. ❤️
My childhood dog was the best dog ive ever owned, encountered, or seen. He was a Rottweiler and would protect ur from anything, he was the sweetest thing around children being that we were small. He was the best boy ever. He was 13 years old till he got sick. There was a storm so we didn't risk going to the hospital so he slept in the living room that night. My mom stayed up almost all night with him till she had to go to sleep. He was such a good dog that even when he couldn't walk he refused to go potty inside. He dragged himself to my moms door and knocked on it with his nose and they carried him outside. There was no use going to the hospital at that point so my mom dad and one of my older sisters lied him down where he peacefully passed away under his favorite tree.❤ My mom cried forever after that day. That dog saved my life countless times. We will always remember you Max. See you soon bud.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ I believe there's a Max in every dog, if they are given the love patience and kindness every dog deserves. XL bullies shouldn't have to die because they were owned by bad people. 😔💯❤
King Charles are so funny. I had one at dog walks and there was no malice whatsoever, no danger, just *wiggle* when his little tail would wag so hard it wagged his whole body. such a funny lil dude and almost too sweet.
My first dog was a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and for those who are thinking of getting one some tips: 1. get them from a licensed breeder. That does mean they'll be expensive but if you get them somewhere else they might get/have health issues due to over breeding. 2. they have sensitive stomachs. They'll get diarrhea if their diet requirements aren't met. 3. combing and brushing their coat is a daily task.
First dog is a labrador-great dane mix. Super food motivated, eager to please, very smart but can get sad and pouty if she gets scolded. I'd recommend this mix to any first time owner looking for a larger dog
I have my first dog right now and she is a Bernese Mountain Dog! She is 6 months old and she is the most loving and social dog around! She loves being around other people and dogs and her training has been great! I always wanted a berner and she is everything I hoped for in a dog!
My first dog was a mutt who shared his doghouse with me when I needed to hide from abusive moments as a child. Since then, dogs have been a constant in my life.
We had a Labrador, and he was the best. Protective of his family, fun loving, gentle, and he was more than a dog he was family. I miss our Clyde forever.
We had a dalmatian.He was a runner.had another dalmatian,Sonny boy,a precious angel.Ive had Dachshunds,a Bassett,a black mouth cur,best dog ever.toy poodle,two Chihuahuas,a little terrier,a Dunker hound,lab mixes, a tree climbing red dog.every one was adored.
many years ago I spotted a pristine maseati biturbo in a Gelsons parking lot in Tarzana, and inside was the most beautiful Bernese Mountain Dog . While I was admiring car and dog, the owner came out to take the dog for a walk. Turned out to be a very cordial David Carradine.
My first dog was a mutt named tramp. He was the sweetest and most loving dog. He showed up one day, adopted us, and took good care of us. He was such a good dog.
My first and only dog was a German Shepherd. Grew up with him. He lived until 16 years old, which is quite old for a GSD. He was older than me. He was a retired police dog and they said he’d last a year or so max but nope he lasted for 7 years. Fiercely loyal and protective, and my best friend growing up until he passed away. That was 17 years ago now, and I still miss him sometimes.
We had two Dalmations, the first bought after my parents saw 101 Dalmations. We added two mutts after that, mine being part of a litter abandoned. His mom was an English Setter, but Shadow was a small black and tan, smooth coat Terrier type. We had him for 18 years. Then we got a Jack Russell, Patches. She was perfect, but we were her third family in nine months. We had only JRTs for a while. We had an English Bull Terrier, whom we lost to SOAR. We didn't want a dog smaller than a JRT, until I laid eyes on my Lil' Squirt, a mini doxie. That got us hooked. We have our 4th and 5th mini doxie, Dolly is four and Cutie Pie was a Christmas present this year and is 11 weeks. We also have Mars, a dog rehomed to us, again the third home in nine months. He was billed as a Jackapoo. We love Mars, and will keep him, but he is a lovable, reactive dog, half JRT, and half Poo. He is home: most of our last dogs have been "imperfect." They are all perfect to us.
My first dog was a Shih Tzu puppy. She was the sweetest thing ever, calm, quiet and smart. On walks she wanted to meet everyone we passed. If they didn’t acknowledge her, she’d turn to follow them, sure that they hasn’t seen her. Absolutely adorable! She was with me for 13 years. 🥲
First was a German Shepherd, second was a Boxer, another German Shepherd, Pitt Bull and a Havanseae. Im a Doggy lover. All Dogs. I can't help it. They are so genuine and loyal and loving.
Once again in this series, they managed to squeeze a couple of golden retrievers in with the labrador retrievers. Interesting. And, I can agree that Bernese mountain dogs are great for first-time owners as long as the owner is prepared for medical bills when they get older and their short lifespan. But they are wonderful, beautiful dogs, and they are so perfect if you have kids.
When i was a young man had a German Shepherd. Then at age 9 I had an English setter when she died. Since i have only had German Shepherds and currently have 2 in the house for protection for my Wife, sons then my Grandchildren. I will only have GSD'S. God Bless you and your family.
My first remembered dog was a German Shepard Dog. My father got her as a small puppy. I have never seen another like her, she was silver and black. I used to walk with her in the woods until I could not recognize my surroundings, then I would say to her, Millis, it's time to go home. She would then lead me home, looking back often to make sure I was following her. She was very loving and loyal to the family.😊
My first dog bread was a rescue (I don’t fully know what kind of dog he was though) I had another dog that was a mutt also (she also has sadly passed away and was 13 when we got her). I now have three dog a Terrier shitzu mix (Verry vocal dog mix). A Pit bull Mexican street dog German shepherd mix. And A Bernese mountain dog. The Terrier mix had a big personality. The Pit mix is very loyal and chill. Our Bernese is Beautiful and so sweet. People used to stop there cars to pet him when he was a puppy. An amazing companion truly❤
My parents were breeding and showing Irish setters and basset hounds when I was brought home as an infant. There's a picture of baby me at a dog show, napping with the latest litter of puppies, somewhere in my mom's photo albums. We later got a beagle, a standard poodle, a samoyed, an australian shepherd, a cocker spaniel, a miniature dachshund, and most recently, I had a greyhound/chihuahua mix. These were all the best doggos ever, and I'll fite anyone who says otherwise.
My first pupper was a Boxer. He was fantastic! Also had a doberman-husky-german shepherd mix who was so smart! Finally, a tri coloured red border collie who never ran out of energy.
My childhood dog was a scottish terrier. He was my best friend and I still miss him. My mom and stepdad have a pair of scotties and I want to get my own when I can afford one.
When I was younger, I was alerted to dogs, so my parents got me a large miniature poodle ! When I was older, I got a German Shepherd, and she was a fantastic dog 🐕!!!❤❤
My first was a Wired Hair Fox Terrier! Tho not kept by her original human Family, she was rescued by my Uncle Roy & brought to me from Texas in his long haul truck, she occupied his sleeper. I was in 2nd grade & woke up to kisses &: wiggles. She was quite young, so we were a great loving duo, until my Junior year in High School. After that I rescued & adopted from overflowing shelters!
My first dog breed was a blue nose pitbull boxer mix and he was the best dog I’ve ever had he was friendly and helped my mom through her pregnancy by guarding her and just being around her
Our first dog was the most gentle, non-aggressive, calmest, and sweetest German shepherd you can imagine. And before she came to us I was scared as hell of dogs... We still miss her after 30 years...
The top two comments (as of typing this) are my first dog. A German Shepard/golden retriever mix
Had 5 Labradors and now I am on 5th Corgi I rescue 4 of them that had health issues. Love both breeds.

My first dog was a collie. Beautiful & protective. ❤
My first dog was a Border Collie. She ran after every animal she saw. When she died I started buying pit bulls. Wonderful dogs but I had to keep them on a leash they would fight at the slightest provocation.
Our entire family have ever only had German Shepherds. Bestest puppers ever. Handsome, smart, loyal and loving. They will die for you.
🎉
My heart just melts when i see dogs cuddling babies and the babies are laughing
My first dog was half German Shephard, half wild wolf. He got in the shop yard and got the shop dog pregnant. My Dad brought one of the puppies home. @@jaskakikkeritoivasdewqsdw2174 you know that a wolf and a dog can interbreed, right?
Golden Retriever was the nicest dog we ever owned
Puppy to the end. 16 years
I agree I have a golden and they are awesome dogs
I can't believe the golden isn't in the top 3 of this list!

She had a good long life, bless her.

My first dog breed was a blue nose pitbull boxer mix and he was the best dog I’ve ever had he was friendly and helped my mom through her pregnancy by guarding her and just being around her
I have a Labrador retriever! She is the most loving gentle dog ever❤
