I find it interesting and refreshing to see the way non-litergerical protestant churches have adopted what they used to call 20 years ago Popish ceremonies into their worship today.
The tune is in actual fact the German National anthem.
I love this beautiful hymn
Love it and in the Catholic Church this is seen on the St Michael hymnal. This tune was used by Austria-Hungary Germany and Columbia University.

Thanks for the history and information. I've always felt the anthem is so lovely. My alma mater, the University of Pittsburgh, uses the tune for its alumni hymn i.e. "Dear old Pittsburgh......" Thanks so much for watching.

This is no longer the German national anthem. The German national anthem is only the third verse of the Deutschlandlied. The text also reads: Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit für das deutsche Vaterland.
