    Minigun is a great example of how stupid Bethesda's concept of balancing weapons to have the same DPS, giving low power to anything with high fire rate, was. I'm not sure how this got implemented all the way without someone saying "Why would anyone pick a faster weapon when ammo is a resource?", because the question is blindly obvious to anyone with a pulse.

      @ReapeeRon  Před 2 měsíci +8

      I do agree with that.

    • @bjack1547
      @bjack1547 Před 2 měsíci +6

      Many companies do this. It’s just a lazy form of balancing. Therefore you have lever actions and muzzleloaders that hit like .50 cal just because they fire and reload very slowly. It’s rare but nice to see when it’s not done this way.

    • @kanrakucheese
      @kanrakucheese Před 2 měsíci

      @@bjack1547 Aside from revolvers and pocket pistols, I'd expect most muzzle loaders to hit like *at least* a .50 cal...

      How would you balance a game when weapons range from single barrel shotguns to handheld miniguns?
      If you want to have that spectrum - which is necessary in the Fallout world - you kind of have to nerf the minigun in some way.

    • @kanrakucheese
      @kanrakucheese Před 2 měsíci +4

      @@jackmclane1826 Same basic idea New Vegas did: The single barrel shotgun's advantage is its obtainable early game, the minigun is much harder to use, and is overkill/waste of ammo on soft targets

    I have probably accidentally killed myself more with the explosive minigun than enemies actually killing me. It is probably the most destructive weapon you can get in Fallout 4 if you are lucky enough

    I can't think of a single reason to ever use the Fallout 4 Minigun unless you happen to find one with Furious, Explosive, or Wounding. Even then, the gun is still too heavy, too inaccurate, and too ammo hungry for the damage it inflicts. You'd be better off dropping it the minute you find almost any other ballistics weapons with those legendary effects. They took a weapon that should have been powerful, and nerfed it to the ground so that they could hand it to a level 1 character and not make them overpowered. It's a damn shame.

    • @kanrakucheese
      @kanrakucheese Před 2 měsíci +2

      I'm not even sure it was for the level 1 character use so much as Bethesda's generally dumb idea of high RoF=low power.

    The Minigun is a prime example of how a single modifier turns it from a very mediocre weapon to the most blatantly overpowered weapon in the game when the Explosive effect is added.
    Demolition Expert, Heavy Gunner, Bloody Mess and Explosives Bobblehead stack with each other and end up creating a monster of a weapon that can shred through crowds and obliterate even the meanest enemies in the game in a matter of seconds.

    • @Fastwinstondoom
      @Fastwinstondoom Před 2 měsíci +2

      I second that, in addition to it being so much fun to fire. No idea if the dps is better than a bleed affix'd minigun but bleed weapons are so boring that for me there is no contest, explosive all the way!

    • @Rj-pw7zs
      @Rj-pw7zs Před 2 měsíci

      I mean yeah. The explosive effect is busted.

    • @Nyxael5845
      @Nyxael5845 Před 2 měsíci

      The Explosive effect is the winner when it comes to raw damage but it requires heavy perk investments to max out it's true power. At full strength the Explosive Minigun can deal a whopping 112 damage per *bullet.*
      The Wounding Minigun is much better to find during the early game since bleeding has no resistances whatsoever and completely ignores damage resistances. No matter how armored an enemy is, they can tank a bullet and take 1 point of damage but the full 25 bleed will happen regardless. The best investment for a Wounding Minigun is adding the High Speed Barrel to stack the bleeding effect at a higher rate. @@Fastwinstondoom

    Sucks that you can't effectively do a Heavy Weapons only build early on because of how bad this weapon is. There was a mod that increased its dmg by 50% making it A tier but that's only if you play on PC.

  • @simonacerton3478
    @simonacerton3478 Před 2 měsíci

    The shredder attachment has a unique property. You can use it to bash without action points if you are in power armor with an active fusion core. That's quite nasty. Otherwise its a pretty drek weapon . You'd assume steady aim is a good perk for this but it probably doesn't matter much and the 3rd rank is basically useless . If damage is totaled with Heavy Gunner is 1 point extra max

    I just get a mod that fixes it with Minigun Receivers and the base damage. I dislike the way they made the weapon so puny when it is a weapon that is supposed to shread anything that stands in its way. If you are playing Vanilla, either get lucky and get Wounding or Explosive.

    I have to disagree with you here, the minigun should be in F tier, that doesn’t feel low enough, it should have it’s own tier below F called the FO4 minigun tier, any gun is better than this, I would rather use a syringer over the minigun, even fully upgraded with all the relevant perks it’s basically useless, I don’t understand how Bethesda got this gun so wrong, the best advice you have in the video is to sell 5mm ammo, that would serve you better than using one of these things.
