as an Englishman, I will say it was a soft penalty. But he was bumped by two danish defenders, subsequently lost his footing, and neither dane got the ball. Still, a soft penalty and I can sympathise with the danes for this. But Harry Kane should've definitely been awarded a penalty in the 73rd minute for a bad challenge on him.

I'm Dutch and just how frustrating it was to see the Danish lose against England because of that Olypmic gold medal dive (ALSO AFTER VAR!!???) really let me understand how hard it must've been for Mexico. But I guess us Dutch have never won the final and that's our karma. I just hope England gets dumpstered by Italy. I'd been cheering for them as my 2nd to win (after Dutch v Czech😧) until they started flopping and wasting time constantly, but against England any team is preferable to win. Why does everyone blame robben? Yes ik he flopped but there was still contact and Marquez foot planted onto robbens. If anything, we should put the blame on Marquez for even attempting to go in like that in the penalty box. Most defenders would apply pressure and wait to intercept instead of just sliding into someone's run in the box

Robbens was moving his foot while Marquez was making a play, you can certainly argue it was incidental contact there. No intent to trip or step on his foot and the defender can't always tell what's going to happen in the future

Independientemente de la jugada dudosa hay que mirar el cuadro completo, y es que el piojo Herrera se equivocó por ponerse a aguantar el partido en lugar de salir a atacar o controlar el balón haciendo la cancha amplia cuando tenía con que. Entre el minuto 70-75 ya México había hecho sus cambios sacando a todos los jugadores ofensivos poniéndose en modo ratoneo ( aunque creo que el 3er cambio fue un poco más tarde); ya desde ese momento México perdió porque se encontraba a Merced de los Países Bajos. Si no se hubiera dado la jugada del penalti, lo más seguro es que igual México hubiera perdido de en el alargue porque Holanda ya le tenía un pie encima con un equipo ofensivo y fresco a un México "defensivo" que trataba de aguantar como podia y desquebrajado.

Mexico should have gone for the second goal. They thought they could defend their lead by letting the Dutch attack and going for the counter. It was a mistake.

The smart thing would have been to continue attacking, and looking for that second goal. If the Netherlands countered, and scored then atleast it was in a counter. Instead they chose to play 9 deep in their own pitch against arguably the most talented squad of forwards, and attacking midfieders in that world cup. They basically chose to play to not lose, instead of playing to win. Which in a figurative sense, was suicide since they were giving arguably the best attacking front free reign to shoot on goal. Luck or not. it was Mexico's to win, and Mexican chose to lose.
