  • I made this golden snitch ring box for a very special Imgurian who will soon propose to his significant other. It was a treat to be a part of something so monumental in their lives!
    This video is by no means the full and detailed process, but it serves as a general guideline if you want to follow along. Please feel free to ask me questions in the comments below or shoot me a DM on @Geordiecrafts on instagram.

    That is beautiful crafted, probably one of the best Golden Snitch I had seen. Even not engaged, I would have wanted such a beauty just for the collection.

    Awesome stuff as usual, and the production value is really great. What is the reason for putting the resin parts in a plastic bag with a cleaning solution, and then into the ultrasonic cleaner? Easier clean up? And is that IPA you put into the bags?

    • @Geordiecrafts
      @Geordiecrafts  Před 2 lety +2

      Thanks! The bag has 99.9% IPA in it. If you put IPA directly into the ultrasonic cleaner the "cavitation" effect of the cleaner can occasionally cause a small spark at the metal edges. It's an explosion/fire risk so I opt to put in a bad.
      Having the IPA in a bag completely mitigates the risk since the IPA is never in direct contact with the metal :)

    What's the reason for putting the 3d print parts inside the UV light box after polishing?

    • @Geordiecrafts
      @Geordiecrafts  Před 2 lety +1

      This step isn't always necessary, but the UV exposure helps to harden it up some more and give it some additional strength. It's good to do for items that will be handled or potentially dropped.

    This looks amazing! May I ask how did you get that incredible vibrant gold with such a dark color of paint? Is it a special paint or does the chrome make any color look that good? 3:23

    • @Geordiecrafts
      @Geordiecrafts  Před rokem +1

      I started with a high gloss black base coat (from alclad), followed by a light dusting of alclad chrome so the shine still shows through. Then finished it off with candy2o in the color "tequila sunrise" from createx.
      I find using a chrome followed by a transparent candy paint gives the best metallic color effect 😊
