I took this trip a couple years ago ! The best experience ever . We stayed at the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel and took the train into the Grand Canyon. We sat up in the Dome and could look all around . Truly worth every penny !
We are staying at this hotel right this minute. What a cluster! They have so many people packed-in here, the line for dinner is longer than most Disneyland rides. We had dirty/wet towels and washcloths in our room when we checked-in. You can’t order movies in the room because apparently it’s 1950. This place is such a disappointment. If you’re planning to come here, don’t do it the weekend before New Years. What a mistake!
You seem to follow the crowds and get consistently stuck in them...this is to be expected. Make your own roads of the "road less traveled". If it's a magnificent venue...pick a time when things are slow...life's too short to hurry up and wait. Too many other great reviews for this to be a qualified one.
If you are partly rating your trip on the ability to see rental movies, perhaps a nice hotel in a major city might do better. They have plenty of On Demand.
