  • When it comes to zero turn mowers for sale in the $5000 price range, the Bad Boy ZT Avenger is one of the best mowers you can get in 2024. That's beacuse this mower comes in suprisingly wide cut options, along with wide tires. Combine that with the high quality residential engine and transaxles, and the ZT avenger leaves other mowers at this price range in the dust. If you're looking for a reliable residential mower that can cut tall grass, handle hills, provide a clean cut and comfortable ride. Then the ZT Avenger will be a great fit for folks looking to mow between 0-3.5 acres of land.

I've got 11 hours now on my 2024 Avenger 54" with the Kawasawki. The transmissions are serviceable 2800's. I like the fact that I can service the transmissions without having to pull them off the tractor, which I have done before, but I know I will save a ton of time and hassle not having to do so. I did my first oil change at 8 hours per the owners manual and it was a piece of cake. I love the way and cuts and drives. I will likely upgrade my seat with with something with some spring in it. It's pretty hard on my tailbone/lower back when going fast and you hit a rut. Other than that I am cutting 1.5 acres like it's nothing with this machine. I'm like going to perform the spindle mod that you see on CZcams so that I can keep the spindles greased. I have doubts that these or any spindle is maintenance free.

just the thought of having to spend $5k+ on a mower to just get a serviceable transmission (2800's) is a complete joke. the non-serviceable 2200 hydros are in far too many mowers out there. they should be in the small and light 32" and 36" mowers. anything bigger than 36" should have at least the 2800's. i don't have 15 acres to mow, but i'd like to have a serviceable transmission with a drain plug and a filter that i could service every 50 hours or so, to mow my 1 acre with. heck, i'd pay $800 option upcharge to have a choice between the 2200's and the 2800's.
after saying the above, i went ahead and bought a ZT1 50 cub cadet with the 2200's (gggrrrrrhhhhh!) and will plan to remove the hydros on the first fluid change in order to modify them by adding proper drain plugs. true, i won't have a spin-on filter on each of them, but if i am changing the oil every year (75 hours per season for me here in FL), i should be able to significantly extend the life of these hydro's.
lastly, i can't wrap my head around why the kawasaki motor on these (and any other brand) mowers is upcharged as an option. the kawi is actually a less expensive motor by $200 to $300 vs the kohler pro 7000. things that make you go hmmmm.
