Who’s here from reading Dave grohls “the storyteller”?
Me
Not from that one, but from "This is a call"
Me
Yep!
Me XD
After reading Dave's "the storyteller" I've checked out a bunch of scream songs, good stuff! I had to see what he was like back in his scream days, doesn't disappoint
EDIT: 4 months later, and their albums "still screaming" and "fumble" are always in the rotation for gym playlists. Total bangers. Would've loved to mosh to these songs in person. At least im fortunate enough to have moshed at the foo fighters' concerts 😅 Anyway, can't wait for studio666 to come out.
Keep on keepin' on you beautiful people
This friday they will deliver The storyteller here at my house in Belgium...... can't wait to read it.....
Same here..its an awesome book. Dave's writing skills are just as good as his drumming.
Reading storyteller now, great read so far. 👍
Same here man ! Love the book so far
Same here! It's a great read for sure, makes you feel like you were there with him when all this happened.
Man Skeeter has such a gnarly bass tone!
I saw Scream during this period and remember Dave's drumming taking my head off.
Overrated
@@Tito-en5nv in Scream it worked .
the bass and drums star in this song. Grohl is a beast drummer obviously.
Props to the sound engineer who capture this relatively crisp tone!
I was thinking that. It sounds a lot clearer than any punk gig I’ve been to!
That's an amazing bass tone!!!!
Looks like a 70s Ampeg SVT. I used to run one. With no pedals it sounds just like this. It's perfect
This guy is great on bass!
@@eschultzz He has something on top of the svt,I can't tell what it is though 🤔🤔🤔
@@jwest31176 that’s Skeeter. Met him a bunch of times here in Little Rock. Had a friend that was in Springgun with him in. The early 2000s.
Dave's autobio brought me here. Love to uncover the roots of some of my favorite artists. Dave's book is outstanding, a must-read (or hear, it's out on Audible now, narrated by him).
I couldn't agree more, it really is a thing of beauty. I finished listening to the audiobook yesterday, I suspect I'll be starting it again before a week is out.
To much celebrity name dropping for me.
For sure I am reading it right now and, just got past his scream days. He learned to play on Fucking pillows what a legend
Acid for the Children by Flea, also self-narrated, is tremendous.
@@JRS19 all learning drummers do. It's advised as there is no bounce
The guys right Kurt Cobain was lucky that Dave Grohl was in his band
Nirvana was selling more record than your average punk rock band...with Dave they were the greatest band in the world in 1990
Might be the other way around because they scream didn't sound that good at all let's be serious
@@enochancient9931 they’re not bad at all they’re just not nirvana or foo fighters lmfao
If Dave wasn't in Nirvana foo fighters would not be so big he is connected to KC forever
@@enochancient9931 dave wouldn't have left seatle shopping centre had it not been for Kurt. Annoyingly overatted
The stahl brothers are crazy good and young Dave is wild on drums
Anyone else cry reading Storyteller during the part where Dave actually gets to ask to play with Iggy Pop?!? Incredible!
2:40 "Don't wanna be nobody's hero" but then Dave goes on to write "Hero" in Pete's honour (=
Beauty!!
First of all, you make it sound like Pete died and he wrote it in his memory lol!
Secondly, it's about Kurt. Listen, I've never been one to subscribe to the theory of it being about Kurt just out of the title/lyrics alone. That is until recording engineer Bradley Cook talked about the recording process of the song, it's meaning which was explained to him to maybe better understand the concept of the song and help engineer it better and later confirmed by Dave himself.
alt1045philly.iheart.com/featured/off-the-air-jammin-jessie/content/2019-05-01-confirmed-foo-fighters-my-hero-is-about-kurt-cobain/
I didn't say in Pete's memory--in his HONOUR! Dave Grohl himself SAYS he wrote it for Pete--his muse of sorts. I recall an interview with Dave and Howard Stern with Stern going on about what an incredible tribute My Hero was to Kurt...later Dave would comment about wanting to correct Stern but thinking better of it...he didn't want to ruin the moment.
@@JaymeSplendid to be clear, Brad Cook stated the Dave mentioned the song was about Kurt Cobain. Dave Grohl has never acknowledged this. Dave Grohl has personally stated that it is about everyday heroes. I'll take firsthand info over secondhand info any day of the week.
Kurt Cobain was fucking lucky for having Dave in the band!!!!
He had already played with Dale Crover so he was used to great drummers. Dave Grohl was fucking lucky to play with Kurt Cobain.
tchaco lynma hes extremely talented.
@@theblakex yeah I really think that Dale Crover is one of the goats. The nirvana song paper cuts shows some of it.
@@bradsully6620 I love Dave Grohl as a drummer but Dale Crover is a shit load better!
Yes! Dave brought the big missing piece to their success and Kurt’s demise!
Lucky!
Found this after reading Dave Grohl's Storyteller. Kind of missed some of this. I was married and in school when this came out.
Dave Grohl:
Part man,
Part machine.
And part Animal
Reading it at the moment. Great stories and so well written. I'm up to his Scream days and thought I'd check them out. They certainly give everything in their performances.
Watching after reading the book by Dave Grohl, amazing!
The bass is legendary
This footage is so good! Shame about the pillar in front of Dave!!
saw them live yesterday, such an amazing performance, tighter then ever before... don't hesitate to come to see them!
Drummer might have some potential.
idk, i think he should join other band or quit being a drummer and start a new band as a frontman 🤷♂️
Bro, that's the Nirvana drummer.
@@NoMoeMistaNiceGuy smh
Nah, he'll never make it
Yeah.
Dave Grohl what a legend. Born to be a rock 'n' roll star. You are an inspiration to young up and coming musicians. Just goes to show with a lot of hard work and determination you can achieve your dream. Dave's certainly done that!
Just discovered this band today at the age of 43. Thank you YTM. Now, I am hooked.
Like others, came here while reading Storyteller. I didn't know quite what to expect but this is far better than I thought it would be. Man! This band had some damn good musicians, especially Dave and Skeeter
How many are here to understand the influence on Dave Grohl through the music versus just checking out the band? How many are either on a journey or influencing a journey for someone?
Cool music by the way.
Awesome underrated band, I read Dave's excellent book. On tour they lived in a van on makeshift plywood beds subsisting on convenience store junk food. These guys deserved better then that.
world class drumming from the get go
DAVE WAS SO YOUNGGGG
I also read the incredibily good book the storyteller ,and was also curious how Dave played back then.insanely good !
Franz Stahl wears an Impact t-shirt. One of the best 80's Italian Punk/H-C group.
Respect!
Torino hc italy
They did a Lot Of festivals with Negazione (it)& Raw Power(it)
Yes.. listening to it on audiobook.. it’s truly amazing
Brings back memories. Saw Scream in 1989 at VFW in Phoenix. Headlining band was Bad Religion, Scream, opening band was Operation Ivy. Sad that back then the crowd never heard of Scream, but the other two bands were already popular on the West Coast.
Those cymbals are higher than my anxiety
Vedi di placare la Tua ansietà, che con quella faccia potresti vincere le prossime elezioni Usa, contro il Trumpo👹
Dang bro, do you feel better nowadays?
@@mcsib1937 bro ma che cazzo hahaha
@@joristolhuijs3703 I don't think the dude made it through lockdown 😥
I now see what Dave meant about the urge to do the drum rolls that he talks about in his book
I was there, had a great time! Peter had hardly any voice left by the end of that tour. Still have a tape somewhere from the gig in Van Hall, Amsterdam. Good days.
Laat maar horen, was dat het optreden met Capital Scum(B),er was een verzamel lp van uitgebracht....
Pete and his brother Franz went on to form Wool, who where bloody brilliant.
Then Pete went and sang with Goatsnake.
Sottovalutati, aldilà della presenza, o meno, di Dave (comunque ottimo valore aggiunto): dal vivo ti ipnotizzavano.. e poi ti facevano ripartire col pogo, che tempi!
Thank you Dave
wowww that drummer looks like a drummer from nirvana and foo fighters frontman!!
Rip Kent a fantastic drummer you will be miss
Nice dye job, Dave.
Absolutely brilliant.
The evolution of Grohl. Reading his autobiography now, Scream was definitely a critical part of his career. The van days…😮😮
raw punk at it's best, energy in that room is incredible
We all have that favorite band before our favorite band.
Hermoso material!
The bass player was amazing too.
Omg those drums sound awesome. Whole band is awesome tbh
still love it!!
Me can't wait to hear this.
Just listened to David Grohl interview on Howard Stern. The first time he auditioned for Scream, he was still ih High School. They offereed him the job on the spot. He turned down the job.
But why is Dave always hidden behind that post?! lol-such a shame!
he is a drummer
But why are you such a dumbass?
How sick!🤘👏
Every good music venue has to have a column in the middle of the stage.
He was so young
Weird seeing Dave play with 2 mounted toms
Same reason i am here. Reading his book now. Very cool story so far and LOVE how he never mentioned Courtney Love.
ha ha I'm here after reading the book..Loved it..
anyone else notice there two different clips being mixed together but seems so seamless. i mainly noticed by the bassist shirt
Bad ass bass player!
The shows anybody gave at the original club 9:30 at 930 F street were the best. Undeniably the location here with that pole. The camera guy would sit up there sometimes in a chair that was mounted on one side. Hahaha
skeeter rockz the bass so hot
Wooooo! Pete Stahl! Wearing a Goatsnake shirt right noooooow!
Their new single dc special hits harddd
Paris Orléans adorei a banda toda.
Reading it now by the pool in Lake Garda. Last holiday read Kurt Cobain book, cant remember thr title, but was another great read
Viva lá vida tosca me trouxe aqui.
Dave purchased his ticket for the show with Risky from Everybody Hates Chris
OMG! Me!!!
Dave Grohl, mi ídolo ❤🎉 vengo de leer el Storyteller 😂
I am reading it now.
Oh THANKS BUZZ!!!
I am..reading right now! 😅
Was it the bassist or the guitarist (I forgot) who took the band's van and left them basically screwed. I guess it worked out for the better cause that's how Dave met Krist Novoselic.
✨✨✨
Same
I also read the incredibly good book the storyteller and was also curious how Dave played back then .
Insanely good !
Nice young David telling stories
Dave definitely made the right choice
dave grohl 1986
Is that the "here you see him, now you don't" Skeeter on bass?
That was one Year before he joined Nirvana, right ? He already had this, his playing style.
No, he joined in 90-91. This is 88.
Do any of these guys have neck or back problems in their older age now?
Whoa, some seriously mop-headed fellas! Fluff a duff...
Wow that drummer is really good.
sounds like the clash and screaming trees
0:11 - 0:25 😂😂
The roots of Dave's hair is like a clock. The brown roots is his life in Scream since he joined the band. LOL
lol kids crawling around everywhere
cool scream
lucky dave
😎👌💐💖
Seeing as he lied about his age just to join the band, I think Dave was just pretty much made for the music
I'm here because I'm still owed 10 bucks for a bag of weed by Dave grolh from 1987....
Pete Stahl !!
Dave shoulda wrote the songs
Wow, the guitar player looks like the guy from the Foo Fighters!
I feel like only the realist of realist know this
How high are Dave's cymbals ffs 😂
controversial but he was 50% of the nirvana sound
