You’re selling him short. HF is shooting for 1. You can see the pivot with recruiting (portal to highschool). It took him a year to see it, but he actually changed his coaching staff to do this. Twenty six is the year.
why are people looking a couple of years down the road? This is Auburn and the most important game is the next one we play
Because hf inherited a not so talent laden team. Several of Gus’ players left with or soon after him. Then more left with Garner. There are only like 13 players from the 2022 class still on the team, and 5 of those are transfers (I think). Five from 2021, and only two of those were hs recruits. Both of those classes averaged like 20 in the rankings. Those are the classes that you would be relying on heavily.
I’m sorry if that seems unauburn like, but I’ve never seen the program like it was. The perception of the program took a huge hit during all of this. So I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt.
….not to mention that there wasn’t a lot before harsin took over. But that’s another discussion.

Seems everyone forgets about Bo Wallace. Everyone in MS wanted Freeze to bench Bo. Freeze stayed with Wallace and he killed it in his second year. He put an AU transfer QB in the league. Auburn has recruited 3 NFL QB’s since 2017. It’s not like they haven’t been here before. The problem has been the development AND evaluation of QB’s. We can get em, just can’t seem to keep em due to horrible decision making. Mr. Potato ran Nix off. Gus ran Willis off when Bo came in. Bo should have been RS and Willis get two years out of Willis and 3-4 from Bo. Then we played musical chairs for a few years. Put WAY too much stock in Ashford. I thought for sure we were getting Grayson McCall but……. Hugh hasn’t been given a chance to prove/disprove his evaluation or development of his own QB’s. I don’t understand why we’re not going after KJ Lacey instead of Lewis. Lewis is playing the NIL market and everyone knows it. Kids like that will transfer their second season and get even more money. We need QB’s and I think Lewis could be great, but to what cost? We’re just going to RS Lewis WHEN he doesn’t win the job over Hank or WW anyway. Put stock in someone who doesn’t mind waiting their turn and get experience before transferring. We can’t bring in talent like WW and Hank just to start a freshman over both. They’d be gone after spring of 25’. At best the following season, leaving us with only 1-2 scholarship QB’s. It’s madness chasing the kid. This kid is looking for $$$ and playing time. Don’t give him either and grab one from the portal. TX is loaded at QB so I’m expecting a transfer there. We could go hard on KJ and flip him before we get Lewis.

I’m usually not one to complain but why so many questions about bama?
I wanna see Holden gernier play more than thorne cause he knows the offense as well as him and wayyyyy better recievers or walker not Thorne with low ceiling and couldn't do well with NFL guys
Freeze runs an RPO system. Geriner is a statue back there, and he hasn’t done enough with his opportunities when he’s gotten them. Payton is at least mobile, and we haven’t seen him with the improved weapons either. Walker is too young. He’s not ready yet. That was obvious in the spring game against back ups. They’re playing the best option, I can assure you.
Holden is not an SEC level QB. He has had plenty of opportunity to win the starting job and never has. That should tell you all you need to know.

Holden's just waiting for his diploma in December, then he's out of here, he's been overtaken by Hank Brown for backup QB, and it's not close.
While I don't agree that he should be the guy right now, I firmly disagree that he has has "plenty of chances". His true freshman year, he had no shot to play.
Nobody was going to play besides PT last year.
