    I keep hearing about this new VR application and I look forward to try it. This is the first time I have seen on how quick and easy it is to import a model while in game. Thank you for sharing I hope this video grabs more attention so other folks can try this out.

    I tried Neos a while ago when I saw that video that Thrillseeker did on it. I was excited by the ideas behind it but all the dev / company drama kinda kept me from diving on it. I am really excited about Resonite, going to jump in after work today.

    while it is neat to work on avatars ingame I wish there was also a way to work on them outside of the game, with a UI built for it, and then import that into the game, or something.
    Like some kind of a "resonite engine" where you can program things outside of the game, apply textures and all that, then just import the whole resonite avatar or item all at once.

    • @Stellanora
      @Stellanora Před 9 měsíci +2

      There was talk from the devs of adding a DCC link (that might not be the right name, but something like that) so people could link any game engine (Unity, Godot, etc) into Resonite to build things as an option. That probably won't come for a while, tho unfortunately. In the meantime desktop isn't bad for building things in general with free cam and snapping to inspectors and flux, but it's not perfect either. I have a tutorial for desktop free cam on my channel, just the UI is old as it was made for Neos, but here's a new one someone else made if you're interested czcams.com/video/Erg8EbHHjoY/video.html

    Metallic maps work kinda weirdly- turned my entire avatar metallic instead of their mechanical arm.

    • @Stellanora
      @Stellanora Před 9 měsíci +2

      That's because metallic maps mean a different thing here. We use them for changing how reflections look then masking out smoothness or metallic (I.e. you can put a reflection sphere texture in there for various effects). I'm not 100% sure on this, but if you use the dev tool and open your context menu, then click create new -> material -> PBS -> PBS splatmat (I forget the name of the material but something like that) and then you can place that material on the avatar the same way you put texture on a material (I.e. poke the orb through the material slot and click). That one should have a metallic or smoothness *mask* which is probably what you're looking for. I could be wrong, though, as I'm a little rusty with my materials, so I'd recommend asking in the discord in the description if that doesn't work

    Is it also possible to import materials?
    In the 3D model I have, the material for the body part has a fur shader with shell based fur.
    Because I haven't found a way to import something like that yet

    • @Stellanora
      @Stellanora Před 8 měsíci +1

      Not currently, you'd have to recreate them using the ingame material / shaders. You can make them using the dev tip, opening your context menu with the hand the dev tip is equipped to, select create new then materials. In your case you would probably want xiexie toon under pbs materials, or fur material but you'd need a noise texture and that one isn't cell shaded. Then just poke the orb through the material slot to apply it (similar to textures), or drag and drop from the top of the material inspector. If you use the material tip you can also grab the slot you want to convert the materials on, open your context menu with the slot still held so it shows its name, and click convert all. Then just select the material you want.

    • @Stellanora
      @Stellanora Před 8 měsíci +1

      @Killertamagotchi Oh, in that case, the closest you could get is the fur material. It still needs to be reworked (a lot of the materials do), but you could get a similar look to that shader. It does take some work to get it working correctly, I was planning on making some material tutorials, but I won't have time this week.

      Not fully, unfortunately. There is a world called "Juicier" that someone built their own mesh editing system, but it's fast enough to make an avatar or something similar. There are primitives that you can make into an avatar, but that's about as far as it goes for now.

    • @Stellanora
      @Stellanora Před 9 měsíci +1

      Yeah, since the BZ protogen has modular parts (I also think the bones aren't named right for Resonite) it can be more difficult to import. Luckily for you tho, Kulza has already imported the BZ protogen and you can find it in the public folder here: resrec:///U-Kulza/R-4c676883-51af-41ce-84ed-cc4e57d52758 (just copy paste that link into Resonite, save the folder that spawns to your inventory inside Resonite, and it should be in your inventory)

    Can Resonite reasonably handle NPC enemies and rollback code for video game sims/worlds with more than 4 players at a time?

    • @Stellanora
      @Stellanora Před 8 měsíci +1

      I'm not sure what you are meaning by rolling back code but yes, Resonite can easily handle NPCs with way more than 4 players at a time. Look at the first video I posted on this channel, I built a NPC enemy system for slimes that you fight, and we had 15 people in there once (was a little hectic but still was running ok).

    • @AnotherCoyote
      @AnotherCoyote Před 8 měsíci

      @@Stellanora Oh AWESOME! I'll check it out!
      Also, rollback is what they use in Team Fortress 2 and all other first person shooter games, to make sure when a player fires a bullet at another player, the bullet and the players aren't affected by lag and it remembers the position of the players in sight when the bullet was shot in their general direction, so even if that player is lagging, they can't teleport around and dodge bullets unfairly like they do in every VRChat game with guns.
      No FPS or game with guns and enemies is fair unless there's rollback code keeping track of each moment in time where everyone is the moment they or one of the NPCs uses their attack.
      for example I can't hit a single person with a sword OR gun shot in VRChat arena game worlds because everyone is teleporting around using and extorting lag cheats, so there's just no point to playing those games, even though I'm on a faster internet connection. All because of the complete lack of rollback code.

    • @Stellanora
      @Stellanora Před 8 měsíci

      The texture would have had to already be applied to the model file before in the program it was originally created in, not applied through shaders in unity. I show how to apply the textures from 6:40 on tho.
