Figuarts Zero is the ideal way to go with shenron and porunga instead of being action figures. It’s not like we’re gonna be posing them in action battle poses 😂
Porunga could’ve been a cool affordable figure if they didn’t add the poorly made over complicated gimmick. You don’t even get the full dragon😂

The price for this thing is such a joke. There are plenty of kid's toys that are this huge and are articulated and play sounds but they don't cost $300! This is a COLLECTABLE for ADULTS. For three hundred dollars it should have tons of perfectly applied paint and shading but it has NONE. For three hundred dollars the little Dende figure should be completely articulated! For three hundred dollars it should have English voice options! For THREE HUNDRED dollars it should actually grant wishes! Good lord!!

The glowing problem seems to be a QC problem, since mine glow perfectly under light and I see some CZcamsr reviewing this toy, their dragon ball did glow up nicely. But I am disappointed for why don’t they make the base of the dragon glow too, since it’s a transparent plastic
Same for mine my glow perfectly in light and dark it really sucks that some peoples aren’t glowing very well for the price

I see they decided to go with the Mcdonald’s Happy meal look. That’s very gracious of them. That Dende makes it a definite must get for me but also because I only exist in this world for the sole purpose of throwing my hard earned cash at Bandai so they could fund their future ventures. I am being sarcastic of course.

I knew this character when I was a kid Watching this show. I don’t think I would have wanted this character then or now. Before even watching this review you can tell this is a statue and not an action figure.
For $300 you can buy so many other figures.
The shoulder joint stop is there to protect us. Abby further and Porunga would be unstoppable
A shame - I was on the fence on this but happy to jump off after seeing this. I' like to get the Dende figure if they would release him in a future, more affordable and more articulated release. Heck, I can take the dragonballs that came with each figure and customize an LED base to light them up worlds better than Bandai has done.
It be nice if they make a 2 pack (like tien and chatzou) with Nail and Dende.
I think I would have preferred a better articulated Dende and then a nice quality A3 poster of Porunga in the distance on Namek. This way you could have it in the back of your Namek display and the scaling would look better because he's off in the distance and it would have been a lot cheaper.
Or for those who really do want an action figure just make it not suck! For the price I reckon the yellow light at his base should be vibrantly glowing, LEDs below the dragon balls would look so much better. Put a bluetooth speaker in it with a dedicated app that can replay the scene with Dende making the wishes and can also play music from the Japanese and English animes. Play Rock the Dragon!

It's a scam. Lack of shading and lights. Better go with a $200 Shenron statue which is fully shaded and has lights. I forgot the company making it.

I usually buy every sh figuarts dragon ball release (not counting exclusives, and specially region exclusives like that NYCC Broly) but damn I had to pass on this one, it's basically a big statue, I couldn't care less about the electronics, and here in Mexico it wasn't even that expensive, I was just a little bit more than great ape, like $250.00 dollars if I'm not mistaken

The abs button was probably original for a light up eye feature but then they decided not to do it or something kinda like an older transformer or megazord, I can't remember which one it was but I remember seeing a review where the Japanese release had a light up feature then the English release did not and the battery compartment and button were still part of the sculpt just not functional lol.
Got a good laugh out of that instruction manual. Cannot believe it's real.

this almost would have been worth it, if they just shaded the terrain and the body on porunga, even then its still a bit expensive ...But as it stands it feels like a complete rip off

Like damn, you can get a Titan Class Transformer between $130-$250 and those offer more play factor and size. That $300 really went to the electronics...that don't even work.

I like the features like sound, I don't have to mimic their voices when I play with them, I guess everyone play with his figures, I do with my marvel universe sentinel.

I got mine and yeah the box size was absurd. The base thing was very jarring when I seen it was shown because what were we collecting 2 SETS of dragon balls for? They should've done it where it's set up the same but have little lights in the pits so the dragon balls we have can shine or whatever. I wish it would have english lines too or something because fuck that shit is $300! Dende I didn't really care for like cool I have him but I wasn't really asking for him personally. Porunga himself seems like they didn't plan it out properly but they had a deadline so they rushed him out while making stupid decisions the whole way through. A cool set piece but they were crazy for this one, i'm curious how he sold overall because I don't see even most collector's shelling out for that

As for the question....I'm a serious collector but even as a teen, my dad spent a lot on those old Halo figures and instead of playing, I would display them. As for price in general, Bandi is releasing King Mecha-gidorah at almost $300. This is the same figure they released like 7 years ago at like $160, and it arguably came with more unique accessories (actual figures you could display instead of swappable parts you can't).
While I hate light up gimmicks for figures, I do love them on statues that you can flip a switch. For figures, you have to usually move them, messing up your display just to look a light for 5 minutes, then turn it off again. Not worth the extra money.

Porunga should have been $100.00 at most with LED red eyes. The base is pointless. Dende should have either been a single P Bandai release for $50.00 or in a set with Nail for $90.00.

Oof. Parunga looks like a model kit, I actually like Dende and I was expecting a Chioatzu type deal, and the gimmick could have been cool with better lights but it's all just overly designed and trying to be clever. I usually prefer figures, even for a bigger character like this, but imports never seem to be able to execute on them like domestic companies. Diamond Select and McFarlane megafigures are usually better than this. I like the ideas going on, even the articulation choices. But they're all just don't land. I think a model kit with a matte spray and some after market LEDs could have done the same thing.

Dende would have better as a double pack with my man, Nail. We didn't need Porunga as a figure. Should have just released this guy as a semi- articulated statue with a base for the balls we got with the namekian line. It would have made more sense to have Nail+ Dende with the last ball and then Porunga as the "storage" for the balls. This, coming from a massive Freeza fan- don't think we needed forms 2 and 3 for the last balls. Though, you know I ordered them too XD

Nah, he'll be great. When it comes to big figures like that, they usually deliver. See Super Buu, the Brolys, Cooler, The Ginyus, etc. Giant figures on the other hand, have all been underwhelming due to lack of paint.
Don't get your hopes up. I'm predicting the rubbery plastic shenanigans will end up exactly like IW Goku - poorly engineered and highly prone to ripping.
@@DipperGames420 companies use plastic rubbery shenanigans all the time. Look at Storm Collectibles figures. They are phenomenal. Just because one line did it wrong, it's supposed to be a bad sign?
Typically I disagree with you on expensive figures, and I often feel like you look for too much out them when they're really just large showpieces like this... but this is genuinely trash. They really just needed a good looking Porunga, with a good paint job and functioning arms. If they ticked off all of those boxes I'd say it would be fine, but they didn't, they failed across the board. Then they throw in this weird gimmick, and they don't even give us a decent Dende. This should be a $90 Dragon Stars figure, if anything, not a $300 Figuarts.

Thanks for this revieuw i saw it in a store nearby and was thinking of picking this up thinking the dragonballs would properly light up to have something nice as a small lightsource, but man the fact that the soundclip has to play and the fact that you can get more light out of electrocuting a potato, makes this a pass, a real shame that they just couldnt give us a proper light feature. I guesse ill have a look at the other figurenese there, i bought an omnimon mercifull mode figure last time there and i am very happy about that one but this one looks like a pass even tho at first sight it looked nice, but that is what the box is supposed to do.
Edit: so i ended up buying for alot of money but basicly the money i was gonna spend on that parunga i spend on a cloud + bike figurene which was about the same price i think even cheaper and that one is waaaaay more posebel and that bike is really heavy too and it rides and is posebel as well (i just think clouds face is done a bit weird, but i like that his clothes are made out of this rubbery susbtance) the other figurenese i bought were a majin buu charging up his vanishing ball, a small dr robotnik figurene and a really pricy dark magician figurene that is a pretty big size.
It just baffels me that the Parunga is in the same price range as that cloud figurene and you get soo much more for that one.

I may have said this on another video, but anytime you're pushing into Hot Toys pricing territory, I simply expect a totally different level of quality, and this ain't it. Hell, you could get one of Threezero's MMPR 1/6 figures for about a third of the price, and those seem way more appealing than what Bandai is trying to get away with.
I'm just going to tear out the batteries and repaint the base to match a diorama, then use the namek dragon balls that come with other figures

It's possible to make the lights look better than they do here but i shouldn't have to. They barely glow enough under normal daylight. Cool enough idea but not well executed

I can understand the thought process from them to turn this into a lights and sound thing but the execution is lacking woefully. Maybe after it gets discounted heavily because this thing won't sell at all.
Figuarts is increasingly disregarding collectors! you pay a lot for a figurine of your favorite character when it appears and the quality is not always good. The more expensive a figurine is, the worse it is!!
