@Taylor Lemoine You're not wrong. William Forsythe' performance as Ice Hesley was superb, well they all were. It's a shame that Stone Cold didn't lead on to bigger things for the Boz, for a football player, he did a damn fine job and could have easily seen him as a mid budget action star. That fingers in the bike spokes scene still makes me wince! Another good one to check out if you haven't seen it is 'Fixing the Shadow' (aka Beyond the Law) with Charlie Sheen as an undercover cop infiltrating bike clubs.

I remember as a kid wondering why Don Johnson didn't become the biggest star in Hollywood, he was the coolest dude on TV in the mid 80s and had the looks of a leading man , I assume that's why, being a TV star didn't translate to box office success.

@Anthony Clark No idea. But I do know that Hollywood is extremely superficial, and has a way of getting into your head. Back when I still worked there, I was told to "lose the beer gut" even though I only weighed 104. I still hate my body to this day, and if I could afford it, I'm embarrassed to say I'd probably opt for a tummy tuck. You feel compelled to be younger, thinner, prettier, CONSTANTLY. I'm not surprised Rourke felt the need to go under the knife. I fucking hate Hollywood. I truly do.

It started when James Toney shattered one of his cheekbones in a sparring session. He got cheek implants which were obvious to correct that. Had he stopped there, it would have been fine, but he got a terrible face lift before he did the sequel to 9 1/2 weeks because he was trying to recapture a spot as a leading man. Since then he's tried to correct things and clearly, nothing helped.

It is a fun movie for 2 reasons: Mickey Rourke & Don Johnson who are both gorgeous & a great team. The opening sequence with Rourke riding his Harley as Bon Jovi’s “Dead or Alive” plays in the background is worth watching as are the next scenes with Rourke nonchalantly walking into a convenience store where an armed robbery is taking place & then Johnson’s pool scene where his attempt to hustle the locals doesn’t go as planned. I never picked up on the fact that this was a “futuristic” movie until I watched it again recently. The movie was shot in ‘90 but the setting was 1996. This movie may not have been worthy of an Academy Award but it is still entertaining & really has become more fun/enjoyable with time.

Every single movie in this category I have seen, every single one, in fact, I think I actually own every movie in this category. Thst being said, great movie, lots of fun, highly recommend it with a bunch of buddies.

Nowadays there are no such excessive, crazy, wild and goofy films like this nor such tough heroes like Don Johnson and Mickey Rourke.
You can't understand the 90s without the presence of this flick that look like a Dark Horse comic
