A few yrs ago a friend's brother went to Vietnam for a month, when he came back,he'd lost some weight & looked amazing his skin was clear,& no dark circles under the eyes.i said what did you do ? He said what do you expect when you eat, fish, rice & vegetables every day.
.....nothing wrong with that.
Wow only a month he had full glow up lols. Comes back looking better than ever, That good weather too will do wonders for you. Amazing I gotta go!!!
I imagine eating fresh and healthy, along with the SEA sun where you can walk outside for 5 minutes and you’re already sweating, would help to detox and reset your gut microbiome.
Seriously guys, if you visit any SEA country, remember there’s a reason why the locals go around walking with umbrellas and layers of sunscreen.
@emilygooner9697 good food, sunshine & sea air & he did a lot of walking while there as well...
"Here Junk Food is expensive" That's the best solution, making junk food less attractive
That's usually the problem though. The fact that in many places junk food is the cheaper option, causing people with less money choose the junk option over the healthy one. Not to mention the amount of sugar causing addiction.
I think he meant western junk/fast food is expensive. Like McDonald's is probably way more expensive than street food there. I remembered this was the case in China, all of the fast food chains from America that were there ways really expensive. And really, can't compare in taste to their traditional street food options. Which often are fresh, hand made, and delicious at a fraction of the cost.
It’s because I think most healthy food in the USA is from European ingredients which would probably cost more
Healthy is cheap, junk is expensive, that's the real deal
It's not enough to just eat cheaply. It's so lazy to not realize how much effort goes into the shopping, preparation and cooking of these varied, nutritious foods, even though the people are already working super hard as it is....
If it was enough to eat cheap, I would feed myself off of pasta with a bit of cheap fat and salt, since I happen to love it. But our health is a LOT more demanding than this
@@22steps Bro in vietnam they said in the video that junk is expensive and healthy is cheap. Do you even get it?
They also point out when youve gained like 1 pound and bully you until you lose it...
@SimoneMarie-qv9tt yeah kinda. As long as they encourage them to lose weight in a healthy way rather then starving themselves
@@SimoneMarie-qv9tt if they make fresh healthy foods accessible to everyone then sure
@@Witchmeewhich is not how they do it in Vietnam. While yes, part of it is that they eat healthier, Vietnam also has a HUGE anorexia problem.
Fresh foods are typically cheaper in areas that can grow it year round, and the logistics from farm to table is more manageable. Just a thought.
Exactly, not every country has the space or infrastructure to grow the majority of their foods. Many island countries depend on overseas trade in order to feed their people, for example. And in some places, fast food IS the cheaper option. Either eat what you can afford, or starve.
Still, being cheap for you with your dollars doesn't mean is cheap for them.
America has far more space for farmland. That’s not the reason. …farm food, (even with Big Agriculture), isn’t as Corporate as say: Coke, McDonald’s, Frito-Lay’s, etc and in America, *Corporations are Far more Important than The People!* We The People Don’t have Lobbyists. 😉

Weren't the fresh noodle made of white grain rice? Nowadays white rice is considered as unhealthy because it's processed food. I'm from Indonesia so we eat white rice too, but now we are told to eat yams and casavas
El Salvador used to be like this. If you wanted a snack the street vendors would selll fresh fruits and juices. American fast food and snacks were rare.
It wasn’t until the free trade agreement with the US that people started getting fat 😂
Same in Mexico before the north American free trade agreement 😂
But people seems happier eating junk food and drinking coca cola.
Same thing with a lot of the Polynesian islands and leftover fatty cuts of meat from Australia.

That might be one reason as for why people in Vietnam don't overweight but when it comes to the younger generation I think it mostly has something to do with the beauty standards...
Possibly, but it’s also that Vietnamese food is delicious enough that my friends don’t feel some compulsion to go eat a Big Mac:)

It depends on how much you eat too. I’m from Vietnam and been overweight for most of my life, every time I went there for vacation I always put back 20 pounds 🤷♀️. Last time I was there I saw significantly more overweight/obese people than ever.
The difference between an Asian foodie and non foodie lol,
The foodie will troll the streets for the best pho, banh mi, then finish off with a Vietnamese coffee 😂

Go to Bhutan. It has no outlet that sells fast food at all.
And Bhutan literally charges visitors 200$ a day to visit before the rest of the expenses to visit there like flight, transport, hotel and food. I can't afford to go to Bhutan and most people can't . I hear they've lowered it to 100$ a day now to make Bhutan more affordable for longer stays. LMAO!
I love the Salt Bae mock salute near the end! Very funny!
I love Vietnamese food and have learned how to make a lot of the dishes from CZcams. When I go to restaurants I have to ask for special precautions because I am deathly allergic to peppers and also black pepper. They are always happy to accommodate my needs and make the dish without these ingredients. Other restaurants refuse! But every Asian restaurant will help me, the people are so compassionate. I wish we had more of the vegetables they use available here. We have an Asian Market in my town and they are terrific and have such variety of foods it’s amazing. But few people know about it. “You can eat a HUGE bowl of pho and still be full”🤯
Bro I am from India, and I don't know what is pho ? Can u kindly tell me what is it .🙂@@galaxi268
My one gripe with Vietnam is that they really don’t get much protein at all. So while they’re still definitely better than your average American, there’s a lot of skinny fat people in the country. That’s pretty common in South Asia in general, as protein and animal isn’t a huge part of their respective diets.
I watched that wondering EXACTLY this.
My hackles were raised when he mentioned "calories" because anyone with any sort off relevant nutritional knowledge nowdays knows that calories are IRRELEVANT!
Ensuring that you get good, ideally grass-fed protein and fats are absolutely essential to human health. 👍
Really? I think we Viet eat too much protein. We have several different parts of the cow in a bowl of pho. We also have an entire meal called beef 7 ways. Most of my family members had to cut back on certain proteins for health reasons.
@@mandywong1408 I do believe that protein intake has skyrocketed in recent years in Vietnam. But by the standards of a guy who descends from villagers who lived near the Irish coast, it’s still not particularly high. It is possible that your body responds differently and sees something like 0.5g/lb of body weight of protein as a ton, but I can easily go through a gram per pound of body weight a day in it
@@hornetguy9063 For sure their portions are smaller in VN, but definitely proportionate to their size. I am just over 5 feet and in the US our Viet food portions are really big in comparison to VN. What i love about their food is that they don’t restrict any food group. They eat everything but with a lot of veggies. And their food is delicious too
Yup. Theyre open minded when it comes to food. If some other culture dishes fit their taste, they will adopt immediately and try to incorporate with Vietnamese cuisine
Vietnam :I am the least overweight country in the world.
Japan:hmm...
Japan actually has unhealthy food everywhere. Japanese people just excersize alot more than most
Japan is #4 least overweight in the world, for similar reasons to Vietnam, eating fresh food there is easy and cheap.

Northern cold countries are unable to have all food fresh year round. Totally unreasonable for a lot of countries. No junk food is probably attainable.

uh we vietnamese do love junk food (as in, deep fried food), and they are far more affordable and available than fast food. Fried chicken (gà xối mỡ) for example, is available in almost any street corner.
Also, our culture doesn't always make healthy choice when men are socially pressured to drink for business and networking.
Vietnamese food is also very deliciou😋
Eating at home or freshly made food is always the best, but it is also about the organic ingredients. I love Vietnamese food and most of my family grew up in Vietnam as farmers, but food is so different in VN nowadays since the industrialization of the country (once the embargo was lifted). it's crazy that some people think Vietnamese diets are healthy even with low protein, and the fact that vietnamese people are so short.
no, it's not anywhere close to being low in protein. Most dishes here are just pure lean protein overload. Espescially party food, where 8/9 dishes could be lean protein, the other one is a vegetable. (boiled chicken, boiled beef, pork, boiled seafood is very common daily dishes, and the fact that Vietnamese animals are extra lean). Even the most popular condiment in the country (fish sauce) is made from animal protein, unlike other asian countries using soy sauce. For dishes you get at the store, the protein in each serving might be lower, but animal protein is always present. The country is still poor, but that's the only reason why. Our culture is not shy away from putting more protein in food the moment we become more well off, unlike the Italians for some reasons
