    Nice repair, as someone who's been watching videos for a while now but hasn't taken the step into repairs I appreciate your troubleshooting skills.

    the moment you know that you have a shorted main power rail its like a relief for this to be easy job in some case like these.. lol, lucky the culprit is the one where you inject.. Good job.. great video thanks for sharing.. always following your videos..😎

      This was actually a interesting coincidence. After review, the cap is suspicious from the beginning when looking at it with microscope. However, I have missed that, so it took a few minutes longer to find it... 😅

    I too have this same model and like many, have no power. Returned it to Asus - told it was because of "spillage" Strange thing it's hardly been used and certainly not exposed to moisture. Their estimate to repair £900+ (1100$)
    Ridiculous to even consider so won't EVER buy Asus again...particularly as so many have this same problem.

    one little tip try to hold cap opposite way of how you holding it in that touch you will not have problem to your tweezers are taking temperature from solder joints and you need much more time to take out that cap than to you holdem it from right to left on top of tweezers on brown surface. ! nice video keep it going!

    thermal paste on cpu die is totally dry. when you see stuff like that, you have to remember to apply the new one. this lap will have some many problems about heating for shure! good video! Bad cap!

    Mate, fantastic video. I've just been given the exact same model with the exact same problem and am about to do the teardown... There seem to be an awful lot of people with this model reporting the same issue. I'm sure if ASUS thought something was wrong, they'd fix it for free, rather than recall the product... 🤔🙄 !!! What was the make/model of the cap you had to replace, I think I'm going to have to order a box - a LOT of my customers have these laptops (or similar, the 15" version, etc). Great work - well don!!

    Hello guys, I have a UX434FLC, and having issues with no power. Thank for the video, if you have any reccomendqtion about finding the boardview of the motherboard of this model, I would really appreciate it.

    • @fairrepair_en
      @fairrepair_en  Před 7 měsíci

      i don't think you will be lucky to find a boardview for this model. ASUS tries almost everything to hide these files from us technicians. But till some extent it should be possible to diagnose it from experience with other or similar boards.

    Mate in case of a shorted CPU, would should be the course of Action? My UX434FQ has been sitting dead for an year and half. I need to access the data on SSD, I tried to remove it and using an enclosure tried to access data but thats when I realized at some point I encrypted my drive with bitlocker and lost they keys. So I think my best bet is to repair the same board so that I might be able to access my data. Any advise? Now I use Macbook Pro M1 and I don't think I will ever buy Asus again.

    • @fairrepair_en
      @fairrepair_en  Před 28 dny

      If the CPU is really dead, then you're pretty much out of luck here, when the Bitlocker recovery key is not stored somewhere.

    I too have this model with same fault. Returned it to Asus who claimed fault was due to "spillage" Strange as it's hardly used and stored away and certainly never in contact with liquids
    Asus wanted £900 (1100$) to repair which was more than I paid for it so I shall NEVER buy Asus again!!

    Hello, thank you very much for the detailed video, I have the same problem, do you know if its a bipolar or polar capacitor? I actually could not find a replacement cap, is it possible if you share the PN that i can order?

    • @fairrepair_en
      @fairrepair_en  Před rokem

      Ceramic capacitors don't have polarity. But you have to pay attention to the voltage rating, at least 25Volts and the Capacitance of course. On the main power rail typically used are 1uF and 10uF

    • @kedosch5089
      @kedosch5089 Před rokem

      Thank you very much, I’m in Germany and they offered me to change the mainboard, but when i follow your instructions i see the same issue, but dont know which cap fails there. I will change them both then as you suggested 10uF 25V

    Thanks

    • @fairrepair_en
      @fairrepair_en  Před rokem

      Indeed, so near to the CPU-Circuit it is better to replace, since this area is very sensitive. You should be good to go by placing a 10uF/25V cap on the pads between B+ and GND
