on start up the bike is sluggish and runs like its on 3 cylinders below 2 or 3000rpm above that its fine with no loss of power but once its warm theres no issues at all , ive no idea where to start
So for those encountering this issue... i have cleaned my carbs and sync them... and worked for me... bad thing about the first gen r6 you need to keep up on the carbs...
I had the same problem with my R6 '00 right form the first day I bought it (used of course). Eventually, I realized that one of the carburetor joints was quite loose. I tighten it up and problem was solved! So it's worth checking the carb joints too!
yeah, i just bought an 00 r6 2 saturdays ago. went for a nice 50 minute ride, took a break and on the way back, ol'blue wanted to bog out and stall.. i just now made it home.. had to keep it up at high rpms and cut through philly traffic..
Had the same issue as in video with my R6 '99 changed spark plugs, cleaned and synced my carbs, checked TPS, all good but bike was still stalling on idle last thing was changing coil packs... and it worked! after changing them the bike is running like new FYI
I have the same problem with my 01. I have played with the idle adjuster and it will idle at a higher rpm but after a while when it warms up it wont idle any lower than 2,000 rpms or it does exactly what this video shows. thanks please comment if you have any idea on what else it could be. Also when revving there is a misfire around 6,000 rpms and the pipe coming off piston 1 at the front of the bike runs 100 degrees cooler than the other 3. I checked the spark plug and coil pack and that was not it. Now I am thinking maybe a carburetor adjustment or a pilot jet tune to fix it but not totally sure whats gonna happen.
almost exact same thing in dealing with right now. turns out my engine was making very very low compression. even with putting oil in the cylinder when testing didn't improve the result. that engine needs a complete rebuild. but i bought another motor with 15k miles(ish) and compression was low but when oil added to the cylinder during compression test it went up about 50lbs per cylinder. point being, the newer motor needs new piston rings and head gasket. once all buttoned up im hoping 170+ in each. hope this helps at all..
if u test compression and its low, add oil to the cylinder.. if it increases significantly. you need new rings and maybe head gasket. if it doesnt increases the result.. you need an entire top end rebuild. ugh
have a 99 yamaha r6 withe the same problems sounds exactly the same i changed all sparks checked them all for spark changed the coil packs and still the the same i have you sorted it i really need help with trying to find out what is wrong did u have a problem with clutch plate or dirty feul
Im starting to hate my 02 r6 and Yamaha in general my bike does this same thing and it turns off when the idle goes to low going to change the coils hope it works and know its not holding its charge stator is good battery brand new and voltage ragulator also new im done after this year with Yamaha
cjmO117 check your stator and rectifier common cause of shitty idle to die and speedo going where ever it wants notice on his gauge his lights are dimming means charging to the battery isnt being consistent also check for grounds make sure none of them are corroded
anthony ramos I'm in the carbs now cleaning and checking the float height. But now that I think about it, the headlights would work sometimes. the high beam switch won't work. so I'll look into it. Fully charged battery though. I just bought the bike. I'll look into it though. thank you
cjmO117 no problem I would def have the bike running put the headlight facing against the wall or have a buddy hit the lights and rev it and see if the lights brighten up when he hits the gas
cjmO117 when do doing it tells you the stator or alternator if you will isn't charging the unit also another way to tell is if you start the bike connect volt meter to the battery and if the battery over 13.01 while the bike is running and is 12.1 or 11.9 your battery is not charging

@@HereIzMatty95 I don't know what's worse: the bogging or being anywhere near Philly. Haha
check for the little idle adjuster that is conected to the carbs it's on your left side close to your startor that should fix the problem
Any idea what this was? Im having a similar problem
did you figure out how to fix it ?
Had the same issue as in video with my R6 '99

FYI
coil packs..? u mean the Plug cap / coil ..??
did you ever figure out what was wrong?
Probably just need a tune up, or valve adjustment or carbs re synced.
Same problem! But I think it’s timing chain because my cab was for synh! (By mechanic) so will be bad spark plugs or timing chain
Anyone have idea where and what to check first :( and how?

@gsx-r7502018 carburettors. No obd hook up...

same problem man! i have no idea where to start looking :/
hi, have you found what the problem is because the same thing is happening to me
Turned out to be faulty coil packs on that occasion.
Why is your temp gauge saying low. I have the same problem
Lo is the coolant temperature being a cold start. It registers a number when the water temperature reaches the 40's
Make a video on how to fix the darn thing
Has anyone fixed this problem yet ???????? Found a solution or anything???????
You fixed bro i Need help...
Valves
r6 single cylinder variant
Sounds like bad spark plugs
Mine is doing this
Ur carbs ain't synced

hi, i have the same problems did changing your coils worked?, THANKS
Having the same issues..
I have some videos that may help you out.
mine doing the same thing.

anthony ramos yeah I was reading to use a multi meter on the battery and see when you rev to 5k if you get 14 volts.
