    I am so glad I stumbled upon this. I’ve just done six of the eight sessions of shockwave for tennis elbow I’ve had for a year. Many videos on CZcams and resources generally on the Internet say shockwave works very very quickly, potentially after the first session. Without experiencing anything more than less stiffness and slightly improved grip, I was really starting to get depressed. The pain is awful. I really thought something was wrong that I wasn’t fixed by now.

    • @crispycruiser4654
      @crispycruiser4654 Před 3 měsíci

      I don't think it works at all, but it definitely doesn't work "very quickly." It's a pro inflammatory machine that is deliberately irritating tendon or ligament tissue which has a lack of blood flow and takes forever to realign, so 2-3 months after shockwave to see any "results." How did it turn out for you?

    After 4 years of the most painful plantar fasciiitis it finally healed after 4 weeks of the shockwave therapy!! Why didn't anyone tell me before--all those wasted physio sessions , injections, heat/cold pads, moon boots, stretches. I started to research on my own. This was the HOLY GRAIL. !! DO IT. The best thing I ever did. What a waste of 4 years. Of course I was the 10% of chronic phase.

    • @DrPelto
      @DrPelto  Před 5 lety +1

      Shockwave is difficult to use on arthritis itself because it can not really regrow cartilage but can be used to reduce the inflammation of the area around the joints that can be inflamed. Legs thought don't have many joints except and ankle and knee region and there are soft tissue tendons that insert around those areas that can be inflamed. I hope this helps.

    What is the success rate for tronchaetric bursitis? Mri shows its minor but it's hard for me to walk and I feel debilitated. I also had a cortisone shot recently so not sure if I should do this therapy. The cortisone shot gave me a bad reaction and helped little bit. My doctor is suggesting I should do the shockwave since it's chronic.
    What are the risks and how many times a year do you have to do it? How long does it last? How many percentage of people does it work on? What are the complications? Is it okay to do it if I just got a cortisone shot? If not, how long should I wait?
    Just fyi, I just had a baby 5 months ago. Thank you so much 🙏

    Is it recommended that before doing the shockwave therapy you should do some hot treatment, like high intensity laser or TECAR, or manual therapy to prepare the tissue for the shockwave therapy or is it irrelevant? Because at our workplace had a debate about this subject and it wasn't really clear to me why in some situations we do, as I mentioned earlier, hot treatment (high intensity laser or TECAR) or manual therapy before using the shockwave on the damaged tissue, but in some cases patients come stricly for shockwave therapy and we dont prepare them in anyway for the treatment. If you could please reply to my comment I would apreciate it!

    • @DrPelto
      @DrPelto  Před 4 lety

      We don't do any laser or TECAR prior in the office we find shortwave sufficient enough. Sometimes we do contamination with PRP or Amnio injections or even physical therapy.

    I have a huge heel spur in the back of my heel. Would this therapy break it down? I already had surgery to remove a huge spur on my other foot. They had to detach my Achilles, cut the heel spur, then reattach the Achilles. That procedure was painful so I'm looking to see if Shockwave therapy would get rid of a heel spur under the Achilles.

    If there is no statistically significant evidence that it is most useful in all tendinopathies and soft tissue injuries, then more research should be done before use on all tendinopathies and soft tissue injuries.

    Hello
    I am suffering with RSI tendonitis with pain extending to my elbow, due to guitar overpractice. I started doing shockwave after a month or so from my injury. My physical therapist started with my elbow tendons nd they healed up after two sessions, moved to my forearm on the third and now towards my wrist.
    In general
    She does the shockwave, then immediately ice for 5 mins and follow up with 20 mins of electrotherapy on the areas she treated.
    Despite being at my 4th session now and after she moved towards my wrist.
    I developed a feeling pain when i use my wrist and fingers when i use my hand. And Its scaring me, im experiencing popping i didnt experience before and i feel my muscles are weaker, especially at my thumb area. This didnt use to happen, and im afraid the shockwave therapy isn’t working for my RSI tendonitis or is making it worse. What does this mean? Is this supposed to happen? And does it mean its healing?
    I tried to look for answers but the sources are very limited.
