But when you fishing with overhead reels you use your strongest hand on the reel not on the rod, as all work done (majority of work) by the actual reel. That's what i was told.
It doesn’t matter whether you are using a spinning or overhead reel your strongest hand should be on the rod as you need to hold the game that’s why when the game is too strong you need another hand to hold the rod up. And when you get slack you reel fast with easy hand.
@@bongcortfishing I would disagree with it! With heavy fish I hold rod on the middle, lift it with both hands, left hand lowers the rod and right hand is on the overhead reel-working hard. Only your main hand can comfortably work the drag in the serious fight. I'm talking about deepsea fishing and jigging, that's where I use my all Saltiga's. Thank you
@@bongcortfishing further to that. I'm a right hander and it's only this hand is capable to work the reel fast and hard, however with the spinning reels we do other way around as you need your strongest hand to play fish, move it around and hold the rod in all different directions.
Guys who are right handed, wanna wind with the left hand normaly. Not important whether spinning or conventional reel. The only time, you need a right handed reel, is at big game fishing, when you have rod in the holder and only need to wind. But if you grew up with youre technique, use it there is nothing wrong with it :)
I matched it with my goofish pe 3-6 casting rod and they are perfect. Just didn’t get lucky with our tuna trip last year. I’ll try it again this summer. Thanks.
