- The 44th Mill Valley Film Festival (October 7-17, 2021) presents an in-person conversation with 'Red Rocket' Actor Simon Rex, moderated by Randy Myers, San Jose Mercury News film correspondent and Bay City News Foundation journalist.
The audacious new film from writer- director Sean Baker ('The Florida Project', 'Tangerine'), starring Simon Rex in a magnetic, live-wire performance, 'Red Rocket' is a darkly funny, humane portrait of a uniquely American hustler and a hometown that barely tolerates him.
(US 2021, 128 min Director Sean Baker)

I love Simon. Looking forward to seeing him shine for many years to come.
I'm glad Simon Rex is finally getting some love. He was funny as hell in a lot of stupid movies, and his Dirt Nasty music was funny as hell. Glad he's finally getting to spread his wings.
best film I've seen in years
all of Sean bakers films are art no matter how cheap the materials he is handed he comes up with the Mona Lisa
easily the best film of 2021
MY movie of the year
He has the best performance of the year and unfortunately will be snubbed for the Oscar even though he clearly deserved it.
same with suzanna son imo
Politics sucks at The Oscars!
The Oscars don't mean shit. The film is an art. It's all about expression and how that art touches people. If a lot of people just like him for his performance and viewers think he did a great job. To me, that's way better than getting an award no one will care about in 10 years.

@@tierk4328 Dont you understand that getting an oscar, or an oscar nom will help him get more roles like this, and further his career greatly. I'd say its pretty important
I really hope to see more from him. I can imagine him in all types of roles. Even though Mikey might be a very one noted character this man has shown to be able to give it incredible depth. Good shit indeed.
just give him the award already, jesus christ, why is she holding it in her hands so long?
RIP Brenda Deiss, amazing performance as Lil
Damn she died?
*_I'm looking forward to Mr. Rex's next movie._*
Great interview.
Simon Rex is a amazing man and playing Mikey saber in red rocket he inspired me a wonderful actor by Melissa Santana Anastasia Lopez Mancini Matthews higginsion
Super inspiring
What a great movie
Simon Rex has such a Jason Batemen vibe to him. He even sounds like him.
He looks like a combination of Jason Bateman and Mike Myer's ex-wife, Robin Ruzan. His voice sounds exactly like Jon Stewart.
Really good film, seems like a down to earth guy too....he's right about films needing more anti-heroes
best yes !
the ending gave me chills. whatcha think happened?
what I thought gonna happen is red rocket 2 movie will come that's what I thought
This film had a Hal Hartley vibe... especially the male lead.
hes really likeable
Nobody gonna mention that the lady didnt want to give the award to him?😂
Oscar
missed oportunity after florida proyect imo
