- Update 1.49 was released on Thursday on Gran Turismo 7. I've spent a few hours trying it out and giving my first impressions.
Overall, the update it pretty good, but not without it's issues...

First thing i noticed was the tyre warm up defo after you pit for new tyres and you feel the tyres wearing very positive tyre model update for me feel us wheel players will benefit
Can really feel weight transfer now, as well as tyre warmup and wear really affects them now. Not sure how it feels on wheel but on pad i still think its felt an improvement so far. But i havnt done alot since the update to be able to say for sure yet
I really like how the Impreza drives - such a cool car!
The tyre wear is very noticeable now. Have to really look after them now, which is a welcome change, as previously you could run them all the way down and not really suffer too much from it.
I felt like I adapted to the new feel of the physics nicely. That extra feeling makes all the difference, even if you do need to be more careful!
Have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the hamdling update, defo better over bumps etc. - interesting that they made the cars a little slower in the change -everyone seems to have lost the same few tonths.
Biggest thing for me was the introduction of three spoke alloy wheels - been desperate for a set since the game launched! 😎
Love the new physics. there are a few things tho, brakes do not lock up more, the thing is, weak ABS is faster than strong(default) ABS. The reason for this is ABS resists your braking effort to stop brake lockup, it didnt have much effect before, but now its realistic. The reason strong is slower is because resisting your braking effort more strongly makes you hit the brakes harder and earlier to override the ABS so you dont enter the corner too fast, but when you do its slower and if you happen to lock the brakes even a little the breakaway is more severe which didnt happen before.
Force feedback is stronger so i dialled it down a notch to my usual and kept the detail high. Weight transfer is felt much more in group 3 cars because they are heavier, and you have to be careful on the throttle on exits and getting the car unsettled on curbs. hitting the grass is death. Group 4 cars being lighter the effect is much less. Its a useless exercise comparing lap times before and after the update as BOPs have all been changed. the michelin thing is more than the sticker, tyre wear is now more realistic but more could be improved, also road camber wander would make it more realistic

It taken me a few days to get used to it, but I’ve now been able to race without TC on and I’m enjoying it
I only played the game with a wheel for around 6 months before the update (a lot longer with controller), McLaren GT3 wheel and fanatec dd pro - I really can’t feel any difference 😂🤷🏽♂️👍🏽
I'm loving the new physics but it's hilarious the amount of overdriving people who are complaining about slower lap times now. The best part about this update, ironically, is that it makes overdriving the cars more fun, which means new people won't have instant oversteer death when they go past the slip angle.
They definitely need to fix it there's an issue with suspension and tire this section to the track it'll make me slide off it's twitchy and certain areas there's areas where I break and I'll spin out of control with no decision with no choice I mean if I go over 200 and then slow down on the break and it'll make me spin out different tracks I've noticed the cameras off when I go around the corner if you look on the replay it looks like it's riding on the outside edge of the tire and I don't mess with anything so there's a lot of stuff that's off in this game The only thing I noticed that I like is turn in
As far as the weight transfer goes, I like that you can actually feel it now, but it is excessive. GT3 cars should not feel like you're rocking back and forth as if you were driving an old truck. So they need to get that part right. GT3 cars have very low centers of gravity with really stiff suspension. Weight transfer should be a non-issue in those. As somebody who just had the pleasure of taking a C8 corvette out on the streets in real life and got to throw it around, you can't feel any weight tranfer in one of those. And it is still a road car. So they really need to scale it back in GT7. I love that it exists now, but it's just over-pronounced at the current time.
Wonder if we need to up FFB for GT3 cars to make them more compliant?

Overall positive to this charge however om a bit dissapointed on the lack of front end grip in gt3 cars.

Lack of grip when you brake or accelerate, but more grip and easier to turn otherwise.
No front end for under braking for me lost about 4 secs a lap and have had to drop down to easy mode in game play. You have to balance the speed under braking. It a hole new driving style only tried gr3

Cars have woeful instability under braking and is very hard to tune out.

They broke the game suspension adjustment is no longer a thing. Let's use the Jimmy for example no matter what you do it dives during braking I had that issue fixed before updating you change numbers car acts the same all builds are trash for everyone now side note people who think this is a good update 😂😂 the game is broken

They are trying to make it into an actual sim now, as pc sims make gt7 look comical. Pitching on breaking is still missing, and corner rotation is still poor. Anyway point in the right direction for a Toy.
