MTH never disappoint . always put a smile on my face and leave my brain a little warped. In a good way haha. They are an amazing band.
I love how they really wear their influences on their sleeves. You can really tell they listened to alot of SOAD, RHCP, Tool, 90s poppunk, etc in the early days
Yeah, they're still playing. They have just released a new single. Unfortunately, they don't release new albums very often (last one "Yoshu fukushu" was released in 2013 and the previous one was out in 2007), and they took a few breaks. But they're usually doing quite some live shows in Japan.
I manage to see them last year in Paris, it was obviously a blast. But very rare to see them live outside Japan.
They also recently did the opening theme for the anime _Record of Ragnarok_ and one of the endings for _Chainsaw Man_ and also "franchised" their band by hiring five fans to form an official cover group called Cottelee (kotteri is Japanese for "very greasy") that has permission to release albums and tour doing covers of their songs. Cottelee just recently put out their cover of "Chu-Chu Lovely [...]" as a single.

Im curious if their new single Koi no America is a signal or sign they may be planning to come over to the US. One can hope.
They just released a brand new single last week after years and years of noting.
Some people already mentioned it, but they released a new video last week. The single will come out in Japan very soon. The title of the song is “Koi No America”… sounds like they are preparing for a U.S. tour?🤞

actually, they have a song called "R.H.C.P." (or something similar) red hot chili peppers are quite explicitly a big influence for them :D maximum the hormone, ive got to say, were the first band ive hear that really made me pay attention to bass playing in a band (i probably was around 13). which is weird bc ive been listening to rhcp before i heard mth and flea is a bass god but idk something about these amazing bassriffs in a metal context made them even more amazing to me!

I hope you'll consider reacting to 爪爪爪 aka Tsume Tsume Tsume aka Claw Claw Claw (or Nail Nail Nail depending on context) by Maximum the Hormone. It's one of my favorites.
They also just released 恋のアメリカ aka Koi no America a few days ago!
Oh and I'd like to suggest to take a look at the Japanese band AILIFDOPA (previously known as AILIPH DOEPA). It's a bit similar to Maximum The Hormone, with some weird universe (in a funny way), and they're good too.
