Fun little fact, the creator of the peanuts comics actually lived in my city of Santa Rosa until he passed away here in 2000, he has his own museum about his life and the comics he's made, and the next to the museum is Snoopy's ice skating ring. There's also a bunch of statues of snoopy, charlie brown, and lucy around the city.
The mod isn't technically cancelled, more like its in a grey area

For those who don't know, Franklin's debut in the Peanuts comics was in the middle of the civil rights movement, 1968 to be exact. Franklin made his debut meeting Charlie Brown at the beach and giving him back his runaway beach ball - at a time when most public beaches where still segregated. The simple scene of the two boys playing together at the beach was not just a milestone for Peanuts, but a beautiful statement of acceptance and support for the civil rights movement. And the most amazing part of all? It wasnt Schultz's idea.
He made the decision when a school teacher - who was also white - mailed him a letter asking him to incorporate a black character to inspire the next generation to be more accepting and supportive in this time of change. And that's how Franklin came to be. Not just the first black Peanuts character, but now seen as simply a member of the gang we know and love.
