The Verve BITTERSWEET SYMPHONY acoustic piano & vocal cover

- Bittersweet Symphony represented the pinnacle of the mid/late 90s "Brit Pop" sound, but the song has long outlasted its era to remain one of the most recognizable anthems in popular music history, going on a quarter century later. Two years ago, composer Richard Ashcroft and the Verve finally gained the legal rights to the song after they were sued (wrongly, in the view of most observers) for ripping off the Rolling Stones' late 60s hit "The Last Time". Incredibly, until 2018, the Verve had not made a dollar in royalties off of their famous creation. A fun & challenging song to try to interpret in solo P&V given the driving repetetive chord pattern and the iconic string sample riff. Like the recent GooGoo Dolls upload, this recording was made in the early days of my channel and has been sitting all the way down at the end of the scroll, so i decided to bump it back up for a bit more exposure. No commercial use.

word to you Ryan thanks!
I would love to see your fingers playing this. Thank you for your time playing and posting.
hey Furious really appreciate the ear time!
Wonderful!
I’m reminded of my senior year in high school and of course, the video of this song!
I think you made a great effort with this song. Vocally you sounded very good and the piano-playing was superb. Also you picked a great place for the video because the echo was great. I really liked this video, and I am someone who is usually extremely fussy about music - and to me it sounded very good. You should probably go far in the music industry.
thanks for that JungleCat, i love it when people appreciate the natural reverb of the room!
@@willritter4076: Thank you. And please feel free to look in at my own videos where I am doing some singing.

hey thanks Facundo!
I read a comment of yours on a live performance of Radiohead’s Creep. Your piano playing is really great, especially since you’re singing too; I also really love your voice, but to improve more you should probably learn to sing from your chest and not your throat- especially since that’s unhealthy in the long term.
Bluebell
There are about two ways to sing - chest-voice and head-voice - as well as many styles. But it can get complicated for a lay-person. And I have heard about many professional singers getting vocal damage and needing surgery.
hey Bluebell thanks for checking in with me, cheers!
You asked Dire Staits fans to watch your video, Ive watched a few. Your Piano is growing,l but you need a few singing lessons.
Thats not a criticism, every singer has lessons. Get the Diaphram working and all will be good. At present, your singing with your throat. All the best mate.
Australian Opal: The "diaphragm" is part of the throat.
@@bigcityjunglecatenvisageth1422 Nope, not for singing.
@@1mmickk
Do you mean the diaphragm is not for singing? Then why did you tell him to get his diaphragm working and all will be good? To a non-professional singer this is confusing.
Being honest, your tone doesn't match that song, I'm no expert.. I can just about talk never mind sing, you've obviously got talent. try sound of silence, bit harder than S&G and a bit less than Disturbed..
hey Craig thanks for listening & checking in with that suggestion. Cheers.
I want to like it but I can't sorry mate. I don't enjoy the tone of your voice. Can still appreciate your expression. You have some musical talent. Especially with the piano and keyboard.
It's all good man thanks for coming by.
Rusty: I find it strange that you said that - because I am usually extremely fussy about music, and even I think he was very good with this song, both with the piano and vocally too. He made a big effort here. But can you do better?
I am surprised Will did not get annoyed from such judgement.
@@bigcityjunglecatenvisageth1422 You don't need to be able to do better to be allowed to criticise something or provide feedback. This commenter did so rather politely, so it's not surprising at all that the pianist took it as such. For you to expect otherwise is more an issue with you and the way you interact with people than anything.
Personally, I'm not a fan of his vocals either, they sound forced. He's definitely talented, but still rough.
@@wintermute8315: I don't know why you feel the need to waste time sticking up for this Rusty guy. I think he is "confused" about what he likes and doesn't like. And he probably does not possess much appreciation either - regardless of how good something sounds or looks etc - as the vast majority of "guys" are this way. Maybe this is why "you" can see his side - because you share what/whatever is inside his head.
If I should live to be a hundred, I still cannot fathom you guys.
But, if you are female (which I doubt it) you sure do come across like a guy (not a good thing).
As for the musician here, I would assume that he couldn't be bothered that much about his type, because he has much better things to do with his time.
@@bigcityjunglecatenvisageth1422 I'm notsticking up for him, I'm talking down to you. Big difference.
This musician posts in comments sections all across CZcams asking for people to check out his covers and provide feedback. This guy above did that, politely, and the musician appreciated his honesty. A perfectly normal human interaction.
The fact that you have such an issue with it is just bizarre, frankly.
And I don't know why you felt the need to butt in with your unrequested, unhelpful opinion.
