    What does the Borax do to the wood to make it darken so much??

    • @carphotography
      @carphotography  Před 2 lety

      it must have some reaction with the heat from the laser, normally when you etch wood you can see the wood absorbs a lot of the beam but when you add borax you get a larger flash and maybe a higher temperature I'm not sure.

    Thanks for the clear process video. It looks like you used 1/4 in plywood, is that correct? Thank you.

    Love the video . Where can we get borax in UK . I thought it was banned

    • @carphotography
      @carphotography  Před 2 lety

      thank you, i live in the USA and i looked and see. "To get started, it is important to know that in the UK and EU you can no longer buy borax. Back in 2010, the EU decided that the 'Borate' group of chemicals - the group that Borax belongs to - may be potentially hazardous to health. Borax was therefore banned for sale in the EU." i think Baking soda also will darken it, just run at a low power and out of focus slightly, should work. thank you

    is imagR better than what lightburn automatically does when you upload an image?

    • @carphotography
      @carphotography  Před 2 lety

      i like the dither Imag-r gives, i did do a comparison video of lightburn vs imag-r results were simular but i feel imag-r gives a more even burn, lightburn can sometimes over do the dark areas in my opinion.

      @@carphotography thanks for the response. Another thing, imagr turns a colored image black and white so is there a reason to do that in photoshop?

    • @carphotography
      @carphotography  Před 2 lety

      @@axelbrambila2802 yes,in photoshop if you use a black and white adjustment layer you can mess with the colors and effect the photo in the way you want to. Then when you take it to imag-r it will have the colors as you chose them if you know what i mean.
