Something worth mentioning for long term battery health is Adaptive Charging, where it will trickle charge the battery overnight, rather than fast charging it, and then sitting on the charger at 100% for the rest of the night (which as we know is terrible for most phone batteries).

Thanks Adam for the tips. Most longtime Android users who are self proclaimed phone nerds should be aware of these methods for tracking and minimizing battery usage. The last few versions of Android, particularly now with 12 and 13 have done a good job of making managing app usage much easier to do.
Adam with the auto brightness, at least on my Pixel 6, I have only had a few instances where I had to manually adjust the slider cause it was either too bright or bright low, majority of the time it has done well to lighting conditions to make its own adjustments.

@@thetechboyorg I already picked out cases for the phone and buds, I just got those today so I’ll probably unbox everything together when the phone comes in tomorrow. I’d like to do a 12 mini vs 6A video but I’ll probably do a regular 12 vs 6A instead since I’m currently testing out a base 12 with BeastCam to see how well it’ll do as my main CZcams camera.
A bonus thing I want to mention is they’re the same size, and with the 12 likely taking the 11’s place in the upcoming lineup I think it’ll be an interesting comparison.

I just got my 6a and the battery life is horrendous (like 3.5h SoT). Now I am testing these settings:
    1. dark theme
    2. disabled "Device Health Service"
    3. disabled "Data Usage" for most apps but few
    4. restrictive battery for most but the most useful
    5. no Always on Display
    6. scheduled Night Mode and Night Light
    7. adaptive battery and charging ON

Bought the pixel 6a regret it already, The battery is absolutely Shocking, the phone overheats to much, Charging is way to slow especially for 2022! Also the phone throttles way to much! I had the moto Edge 20 lite before I purchased this and I can't believe the Edge Lite 20 absolutely monster's this in just about everything! You shouldn't have to turn literally everything off just so your battery lasts longer than 5 hours this phone sucks and isn't worth the £400... When £200 devices like the moto Edge 20 lite have all day battery life, have Turbo quick charge, doesn't overheat or throttle!! Can't see me keeping this device for long

Just set up my new Pixel 6a after you posted this vid. Followed your tips. Battery life was fine. But that fingerprint sensor is driving me bonkers. Repeatedly getting locked out and needing to use my PIN code to get it unlocked. My old Pixel 3a's fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone was so reliable. There no reason that this phone shouldn't be more tank in battery , suppose to be better than average phone because it has a small 6.1" screen at 60htz same brothers pixel processor but clearly it should have a much better battery life... 4410mAh... probably bad processor optimization

@@joeldiaz141 ha ha ha thanks Joel. I gave 60 a thumbs up because it saves battery. Much needed in India as I like to travel daily without a charger or power bank. Even more I am not that crazy about 90 and 120 Hz displays. And sorry I don't have a channel as of now but if I do in the near future I will definitely reach out to you. TIA.

Honestly now, I don't notice it being "only" a 60hz display unless it's right next to a 120hz display. 4 days in, and I'm just used to it.

I honestly never believed a phone could be as bad as the 6a battery is crap and lasts 8 hours on average so means I have to charge it at least twice a day. Fingerprint sensor has never worked since Android 13. Also phone calls don't work if I have 5g enabled. How can Google support recommend a fix by disabling a main feature of the phone 5g. I will never buy a Pixel product again ever.

For me the Pixel 6a has been amazing! Idk why you're having all these issues. And btw, I usually get 8 -10 hours on-screen time off a full charge with moderate usage. Is that not good enough for you? Surely that will last the whole day - I mean I usually only have 4-5 hours daily screen time so my Pixel often even lasts two whole days.

Didn't expect the battery on this thing would be this bad.

I didn't say it was bad. But I make these videos for almost every phone.

The pixel 6a is the worst google phone and my last. I still have my pixel 4a which had the reputation for a short battery life. I found the battery way better on my old 4a. I can barely get 12 hours on my 6a and I barely use my phone. I believe the issue is the google chip. As apple Google decided to install their own tensor chip in this generation of phone and they are obviously inefficient vs qualcom that they were using in the past. Google is JUNK

You have to give it several days to optimize and settle in, just like when you got the phone.

In 2022 we shouldn't have to do all that we should have great battery life on all devices
