    Biggest problem for me that stops buying the ZF is because it doesn’t have the joystick…for my work I don’t rely on autofocus and way prefer single point , never lose a shot… that’s why still rocking Z6 and works perfectly… save the money and buy glass, way way better investment 👍🏻

    • @TouchLifeStudio
      @TouchLifeStudio  Před 3 měsíci +1

      I absolutely agree that glass is as important if not more. But after using Z9 which has a joystick, which I never need to use because if the Eye AF, the same is with Zf. Both cameras have nearly the same AF performance.

    I would certainly consider buying a Zf, however the announcement of Z6iii is likely to come in April with many of the same features, and possibly a bit more, so I will wait to compare this Zf with Z6iii on specs before buying, plus the price difference. But thanks for showing some amazing new features on ZF. Great improvements.

      I had no problem shooting at night at ISO 51200 on Z6 and Z6ii, the DXO cleans them up. There is no reason Zf is any different. As to shutter speed, even at night I wouldn't go under 1/125, because even if your camera doesn't move, your subjects do. I used to shoot cameras w/o IBIS and don't find it a necessary feature.

    I have many different cameras from Panasonic, Pentax, Olympus, Fujifilm and Nikon, i have both the Z6Ii and ZF for the same reason I have a XT5 and XH2, the bodies of the XH2 and Z6II and similar style cameras allows me to photograph with larger glass, and for photography i prefer a tilt down screen as it allows me to use an L-bracket without interference with the screen, with the ZF and XT5 style bodies you get a different photographic experience than a Z6Ii but with the Z6Ii i can use a wired remote and the Zf does not have that option, the SD memory cards are more easily accessible on the Z6Ii and it is easier to move the focus points when you have a dedicated control button as on the Z6Ii.

    • @TouchLifeStudio
      @TouchLifeStudio  Před 4 měsíci +1

    NO. You have to distinguish plain "AF" as doing focusing for you from "recognition AI AF". "AF" can still work in deep darkness (using phase sensor sites), but cannot take normal photos at that. Your image at 10:14 [1] is at LV 8.7 - that is 18.7 stops above LV -10 so there is 425,854.2 more times light than at LV -10 [2]
    Recognition AI AF requires recognisable images from the sensor in order to work.
    The LV -10 is outside the operating range of the camera where it can "measure" light, even.
    With mirrorless, viewfinder, recognition AI AF, and shooting images are all directly connected.
    [1] 1/640 sec @ f/2.8 @ ISO 1,600 @ ExpCorr -0.33
    [1] LV = EV@ISO100

    • @USGrant21st
      @USGrant21st Před 3 měsíci

      1/640 shutter speed doesn't make any difference, as the sensor readout for AF purposes is much slower.

    • @jpdj2715
      @jpdj2715 Před 3 měsíci

      @@USGrant21st- in a camera with a mechanical shutter and 1/640 sec exposure time, that 1/640 is the time the sensor was exposed to light. The AF system at low LV values can only use the phase sensors that can go to very low light levels, but for "recognition AF" you need the photographic photosites as well.
      Such a camera may have a separate AF sensor, not behind the shutter, but that cannot do any serious form of recognition AI AF.
      My calculation of LV as indication of light level has nothing to do with exposure time that you point to.
      My mirrorless/mechanical-shutterless camera's sensor has a readout/scan time of 1/250 sec (4 ms) but that says nothing about exposure time either. The scan time is separate from the time the analogue photosites are allowed to build a charge in their individual analogue memory - which subsequently is measured (scanned, read) per photosite and then each photosite has its analogue value converted into a digital integer as monochrome data element in a raw frame.
      The point is that recognition AI AF relies on detailed images from photosites on top of the phase data. That does not work down to the reported lowest LV for "focusing" (using AF) to work.

    does the jpgs file look better on the Zf?

    • @TouchLifeStudio
      @TouchLifeStudio  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Still image capture on both cameras (Nikon z6II and Nikon Zf) is 14-bit depth. So theoretically with the “same”sensor, jpgs should be there same. But there appears to be some difference is jpgs, probably because of the EXPEED 7 processor in Nikon Zf.

      @@jallen418 actually you don't get banding unless it's an extreme situation. More importantly, it's a totally misguided approach. The Z6 ii has been out for how many years now? There is a plethora of reviews and adoration for this camera. The Z f is quite new and is gaining popularity. Most of the reasons listed in this video are the same reasons I went with the Z f. I don't need CF Express. I bought a better grip for the camera, but found I really don't need it. The neck strap does quite well to ensure I don't drop the camera and I can use the camera as-is with ease. Ergonomic grip, as mentioned, can be bought. Even if the Z6 iii comes out, in my book, the Z f will still continue to be a top-contender. What is in this video is true. For me, the video hit home.
