"Lily Was Here" Composed by David A. Stewart

It is like the guitar and the saxophone are talking to each other in a flirty way☺️
You understand music in a very spiritual way of some kind. I like that. 👍😎👍🙏❤🙏🇬🇧 feb 2022
It is based on the cop(crisp guitar notes) interrogating Lilly Mertins who is 17 replying (the Free Wind of Amsterdam saxphone) response. It is highly artful in the context of the movie.
@@paulcrisp9861 thank you🌺
@@Reptilia1610 🙏❤🙏
The guitar compliments the saxophone very well each note sound just matches both instruments very smoothly ❤
No vocals, only music. Only love, full of romance.
Most movies have a soundtrack, this soundtrack had a movie
They will never do songs like this again. 80s and 90s were the best.
Check out The Midnight - Crockett's Revenge. They have more great songs too. Very retro. Maybe you will like it, too!?
80s 80s only
Not better than the 1700's
70s and 80s
Don’t forget the 70’s
I used to be saxophone teacher back in the 80s/90s. A lot of students wanted to learn this piece.
Inspired a lot of people to learn sax and helped me earn a living for a while. Good stuff.
Great ... and we all played air Sax : )
i want to learn saxophone, because of this and "epic sax guy" song lmao
Ms Dulfer comes with stellar credentials on the sax. I could listen to her riffs all day long
I would have done the same… learn how to play sax and play this beautiful sound ❤❤❤
Heh, I am 65 now and I heard this first time when it was released, I lived in Belgium back then. It still sends shivers up my spine, Bless Candy !!
I’ve had that guitar sound in my head for the past 32 years without ever knowing the name of this song. Heard it on Sirius XM this morning 🤩 Today is a great day!
Same here, just heard it and it was like "Wait I know that tune" what is it?
Many, many years ago (1989 of course) when I used to live in West Germany, we used to watch the tv channel AFN. I think every hour, or every other hour the TV guide would come up to show whats coming on for the next few hours. This was the song that they would play most of the time. This is just amazing memories for me. Sad too.........😥
This song made fall in love with the saxophone. Here I am 32 years later, and it's still as sexy as the first time I heard it.
Yes, if I had to choose a musical instrument, I would love to play the sax!
Good call Missy.!
No words required. The sax talks.
Back in the day my most successful pickup line was "Do you like sax?"
Ever since I was a kid, this song has been associated with America for me. It was in the 90s. Everything looked so cool in America. I used to think everybody was happy there. In my country, at that time, it was almost like a famine. People were so poor. There were only three channels, out of which two were Russian state channels, broadcasting in black and white on TV.
30 year old song.
And you would say it was just released now.
Excellent music never gets old.
👍👍👍❤️
Indeed
the drums/programming definitely sound dated
@@360.Tapestry I luv Dated LOL
35 😕... time flies...
THIS IS SIMPLY A MASTERPIECE!!!
When you don’t need any words to enjoy true music ❤
Love This Awesome Music!!!!! I play it all the Time!!!!!!!!!! I'm 70 still Rock n Roll!!!!!!
Living 46 years on this planet and just today I found out that this song was written for the Dutch movie "Lily was hier" 🤷 since my teen-age I thought this was American duo and the movie was American too..
I love listening to this song when I'm driving a long way with a friend late at night and seeing the lights of the buildings off the road and just thinking about the past of these places and the stories of the people who were there, who I knew and who are no longer there and how time everything changed. The 90th generation greets the older and younger ones. For me, this song is interpreted as time passing by.
Damn, this song is good. It just brought tears to my eyes. For real.
Uh how?
*Lily* *Was* *Here* *A* *PIECE* *OF* *MUSIC* *ALIVE* *FOREVER*
Candy Dulfer is great
I found this because I was stuck in a call queue for some good 20 minutes with a tinny version of this. had it's charms!
Candy Dulfer rules!!
Candy Dulfer on the saxophone - pure magic!
Thumbs up if you first heard this song on 94.7 The Wave.
What a tune ❤
love that song lily was ere

Will always be ☝️ of my favourite songs (DCSB)
'When I want sax,
I call Candy.'
~Prince~
If you lived around the Phoenix area in the 2000s, you most definitely recognize this song.
I didn't know they played this at the supermarket!
This song played on heavy rotation on the weather channel 8s….finally found the original song thank you!
I saw this movie back in 1990-91, I was studying one night for a final exam..the tv was on and they showed this movie in one of those cheezy b-side channels, long story short..I saw it all an got flunked next day - luv the song as well, it does bring back memories!
Hi,Juanee, do you know what movie is?? the name? I had looking, but i don´t know what is.
@@coffesh Lily was here is the name of the movie.
😉 Muchas gracias!
Zaz! Y el soundtrack no se queda atrás.
I have a eargasm with this instrumental
Not sure what supermarket is playing this music, but I want to go there
HAHAHA you saw it in the playlist too!!!
hehehe i knew that!))))) i find you guys)
As perfect in 2017 as 1989, wow!
Linda Chandler agreed!
I didnt discover this until I was 74 -- what a miss
thnks for all the great leads !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Couldn't agree more. One of the best instrumental songs EVER.
Yes-Yes, My Dear!!!
AMAZING VIBES🤙💙
60s,70s,80s and 90s❤❤❤❤
This was played on mainstream radio and made top 10 when it was released...Sadly we won't hear this type of wonderful music on mainstream airwaves today
I remember when it came out. I didn't know then it was from a Dutch movie.
Lily is surely in my mind and thoughts.
I didn't know these were Sounds For The Supermarket.
Love the Saxaphone in this song is amazing!!!
Just perfect 💯👍👍
It's as though the guitar and saxophone are having a very agreeable conversation and the bass line is just nodding along the whole way through like, "Yeah, these guys are making a lot of sense..."
Love this song
So relaxing, true music 🎶
Perfect music...it travells you everywhere you want to go...
Been looking for this song for ages. First heard it in the early/mid 90's and have been in love with it since. Absolutely love the Sax on this, total perfection.
Took me ages to find it my dad use to play it while cleaning up on weekends.
Its played by arguably one of the best saxophonist, ever, Candy Dulfer together with Dave Stewart, one of the best musicians ever (eurythmics)
The best melody for a Sax. Most romantic and scintillating.
I just can't stop listening to this damn song ... lol
Consider that Candy Dulfer was just 19 at the time this was recorded---already impressive sax play from her.
You nailed it my brother!!
@ygfghhk She played with many great artists. Prince was a huge fan.
@H8Rade Brewer She "just" did play with Prince and Pink Floyd and something more
One of the rare cases where the theme song of a movie is better known than the movie itself !
The movie, De Kassiere, was only released in Dutch.
It’s a good movie
2019 ,like from Moldova.
My stupid shazam couldn't recognize this song, just heard it on the radio :) memories...
I love listening to both instruments. It like music speaks to me n I feel it in my soul. I always knew from little, I was in love with music. Anyone can listen to music and like it alot but to deeply feel the music in your heart n soul, it's a very different thing. 💯🙏💯
I watch and listen to this over and over...
Me too
I seriously listen to this EVERYDAY SO BEAUTIFUL TO ME
One of the best instrumentals ever!!!! Rock on Candy and Dave!!!!’
I love this song so much, recently discovered the video and I have no words this goes beyond. Yes music with so much meaning like this barely now a days
The most sexy song of all times!
YES I agree
This song was the best way to end the amazing 1980.
Radio needs to play more of these songs instead of the verbal diarrhea that they play today.
I don't why but this song makes me feel many things. nostalgia I guess
Ah, I see why this is in the super market playlist
I think this tune is inspired by Morricone's "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly". I love it anyway, and I agree with the message of this video: people always will forgive a beautiful lady 😅
Queensland Rail in Australia uses this music when you try to get through to them and as on-hold music. I am often put on hold and this music drives men up the wall. Pity. Dave Stewart would not be impressed!
Die Liebe Gottes kennt keine Grenzen. Da Sie es sind.❤
This is simply superb.
This melody is simply the best. I loved it, I love it, and i will always love it ❤️❤️❤️
2019 and still fresh as the day it was released 🔉🔊🔈
Beautiful song. Beautiful movie. Shocked it wasn't on Miami Vice.
Xkavar Smith that show was over by the time this song was recorded, although it has that You Belong To The City vibe to it.
Timeless song
I always thought this was Dave Sanborn, first heard this tune on CD101.9 FM (NY radio station) was looking for it for years, but had no idea of the title but remembered the tune
Beautiful
Some dang good mixup with that superb saxophone 🎷. Whoa 🥳
First time I heard this in years I'm sure! Beautiful!

Can't get this song out of my head.....
Perfect
Just amazing
