  • Apologies for the low quality, this video was originally recorded a few years back. Currently my laptop is unable to handle the task of remastering this video; but it still has a few nuggets of useful information!
In this Tutorial, I compare and explain a few of the different types of Poi I have and which one's work best for Silk Poi. In the second half, I attempt to explain the rough sizing guide that I use for purchasing new Silks. At the end, I address a few of the more popular questions I get about working/ practicing with Silk Veil Poi, and I share my solutions for common problems.
Although this video is not my best work, I hope it helps provide some handy information for those coming into the world of Silk Poi, thank you for watching!

I’ve been struggling with spinning poi behind my back… any tips?

That can be tricky! My biggest tip is to practice slowly, you can injure your wrist or shoulder if you are not careful. Whether you are spinning up high, behind your head, or down low, behind your hips, the big thing to get a feel for is the position of your shoulders, elbow, and wrist. Try the movement you want to do without your poi first, moving your hands in the direction you want to go. If something feels tight or off don't strain yourself, readjust your position to what you can do comfortably. When you practice with your poi, try to do 2 beats behind you and 2 beats in front of you to start building up the muscle memory. Make sure you stretch before and after practice as well to increase your range of motion!

@NovaNightingale it can take some time to find your style and flow with new props, just keep practicing and you will get there. God bless you and your Flow journey! 🙏🏾💜
