The show became a huge success due to the excellent writing by Ford Kiernan and Greg Hemphill as well as the excellent cast and direction by Michael Hines. But what keeps the show still popular to this day, are the secrets that led to its success. For example, do you know the origins of Still Game? The show began with the characters Jack and Victor from the sketch comedy series Chewin’ The Fat. On the same show, we also saw Winston and Tam. Then eventually, a play that blended comedy and drama was performed. It was a low budget play but nonetheless made a huge impact. This led to the eventual sitcom.
The show made stars of their cast. But there were some cast members who had little to no acting experience before the show. Did you know that Sanjeev Kohli worked mostly as a writer and had little performing experience before he was cast as Navid?
And what about the success of Still Game? The show ended in the 2000s but due to huge demand, it had a revival in the 2010s. This also ended with a series of live performances. Even these went on for months as there was so much demand to see Jack, Victor, and the whole gang on stage.

I’m Australian with a Glaswegian Dad. This is the funniest comedy ever. We used to get Rab C Nesbit videos sent over, that was a funny show but nothing is a patch on Still Game 🙌🙌
😂 I am simply amazed at the fact that still game is probably the best comedy show I've ever watched. I cannot find anything else. That makes me laugh so hard.
It cracked me up when Navid called Mina a, "Fat Boot" as a clapback.
We all fell in love with all of the characters and being from Glasgow, we all know people just like them. And Chris the Postie (Sandy Nelson) was involved with my sister for a while. Good guy

Why did you not mention Isa Drennan the local gossiping old pensioner brilliantly played by Jane McCarry. who was actually only in her 30's when the series began. She was in 60 of the 62 episodes.
The narrator is an American, that's why. And it is why he calls my country, "Scatland."
Maybe he'll do a part two where he'll pronounce Isa's name as, "Eeza."

My own ears are getting to be as big as shugs now at 68. I knew someone who had one big ear but he died. He went out in a high wind and it broke his neck
I heard a lovely story about Sanjeev Kohli, which I hope is true. Apparently his Dad came over from India to visit his son. As you'll see, Naveed was a much older character than Sanjay, which led to his Dad (who was apparently just as hairy about the face as Naveed) being greeted on the streets of Glasgow by passers-by cheerily calling out 'Hello Naveed'... and his Dad being utterly mystified as to why all these total strangers seemed to know and like him while calling him by the completely wrong name... might be a little unsettling, don't you think?
Agree...Isa was not properly addressed but Winston was the best.

5:45 let me correct you kindly, he had a meeting with ford and greg and said he would only return in one condition, that they kill him off, for season 7 they didn’t but season 8 they agreed and granted his wish.
