one of the most satisfying videos. this clip is the proof how skillful Ah Toy is.even strickland didn't get the chance of swinging his sword properly.
He was absolutely outmatched. No chance at all. He looked shocked when she walked in so he was definitely worried by her.
I think Strickland was a cavalry officer in the Civil War, so he's used to fighting up high with a big saber and maybe getting in a single strike or parry on a pass-by. That left him unprepared for someone like Ah Toy, who is experienced in close-quarters combat on the ground. To make it worse, her technique is more complex, full of circular movement and changing levels and angles--stuff he obviously was unprepared for. The way she out-maneuvered him and then attacked his legs was so skillful.

Ah Toy is my favorite character. Hands down.
What funny is Leary was on his way over to kill him also, Ah Toy just got their first.
I knew he was outmatched. His suffering was satisfying.
The look on Strickland's face when Ah Toy walked in was priceless!
It looked to me like he didn't realize fully how fucked he was until the 2nd cut.

Strickland has ranged advantage from his rapier but he is too slow so Ah Toy with a shorter blade manages to close the distance

Facts. She showed him that there are levels to the sword game.
Strickland probably only ever fought in tournaments.. Ah Toy had used her sword many times in fights to the death.. Hence Strickland had no chance.

He was in the cavalry so likely had only used his sword against people with guns/bayonets. Looks like he uses more of a fencing technique and it definitely didn't look like he had ever fought someone who knew a different technique. Lai was beating him too till he threw that bottle at her face

Strickland's fatal flaw is underestimating his enemies. To wit:
-He didn't think Leary eould blow up his bridge, and he probably would have killed Strickland if Ah Toy didn't beat him.
-While he does beat Lai, Strickland's clearly surprised she gets in quite a few cuts.
-Then this scene. He straight up threatens Nellie WHILE SHE HAS A SHOTGUN POINTED AT HIM.
Lai probably beats him if he doesn't throw the bottle at her face tbh. She was definitely on par or winning that fight.
Strickland is also much slower than Lai and Ah Toy. He could beat both of them if he fought at faster pace since his rapier has ranged advantage

She basically showed him, he's still an amateur with the sword and what she said at the end loses a lot in the translation and hard to translate into English.
It would've been savage if what she said translated to "there's levels to this".
A American cavalry swordsman is nothing compared to a Shaolin swordsman

@@amitkenan3878 Wrong! American cavalry sword is much longer than Chinese Dao Sword so the Calvary man can fight on pair with Shaolin Swordsman. The problem of Strickland is that he is too slow to capitalize on his ranged advantage.
Just because you are Shaolin swordsman does not mean you can beat a master fencer or a Kendo master

Realistically a saber would be in so much of an advantage over a dao in both reach and built quality. A Dao wielded by a women(only talkin bout strength) wouldn’t just knock a saber out of line like that.
