This really helps me as I have 2 garage style valve checks to do this summer. I do have new seals and more tools but it will be a learning experience for this old gal!

Make sure you have at least one beer while doing it. Key to success.

Brilliant; the removal of the cam cover from the bike was a mystery before this. I would love to be able to check clearances by "feel".

Glad you got something out of this semi-informative video!

You cant check them by feel. Its just less damage if there is too much clearance rather than too little clearance.

Tip if cant get little wrenches in to take valve cover off use a super long adapter bar and a socket out the front panel

Kinda silly that after all these years Vespa doesn't make the front access cover just a bit larger

Small handed mechanics certainly have the advantage!

Whew that's a tough one and it may depend on the country you're in. One way is to go to some kind of motorcycle mechanics school like MMI in the USA. Another way is to hang around a shop doing menial tasks like sweeping up and whatnot and then just kind of sponge information where you can, and start small with accessory installations, oil changes, etc, until you can gain more experience. Neither route is guaranteed but there is definitely a shortage of mechanics around and if you have a dedicated interest in making that your profession, sticking with it, trying to be better, etc, you have a decent shot. Good luck.
