  • The Lone Star State is attempting to stand alone. A new bill called the "Texas Independence Referendum Act" is being introduced this week. It would allow voters to decide if they want Texas government officials to spend the time and resources to see if secession is worth it.
Texas state Rep. Bryan Slaton explains why some want a "Texit" on "Morning in America."

Let's start with ALL gun control acts of Congress. THAT'S how you do it. If Texas left the Union, not only would it have to worry about getting attack by other countries, it would have to worry about getting attacked by the United States. Logic anyone? As a Texan, I am not wholly opposed to secession but I would prefer we just assert our sovereignty as a republic within our federal republic. Every State is supposed to be a sovereign republic with the federal government only involved with its delegated powers of commerce and defense.
The 1868 case saying secession is illegal is itself unconstitutional. There is nothing more fundamentally American than the right to self-government via State secession .

As a Texan, I have mixed feelings. The word united and the word state in the United States of America implies that the states are supposed to be united. I’m extremely patriotic but what I see from other states that have tent cities everywhere, they make drugs, legal, they don’t want Police to prevent crime, they won’t persecute any criminals, and they won’t protect Texas from the invasion coming through Mexico illegally. we have our huge military base and Air Force bases, we have private contract bases that produce fighter planes and attack helicopters, we have NASA, we have fertile planes to grow crops and have cattle graze, and we have seaport so we can have seafood. There is nothing that Texas cannot do for ourselves. Right now we are fending off our own illegal alien invasion. So I’m watching the rest of the United States go down the tubes, so sadly, I would rather succeeded, then have the type of cities that are in Portland, California, Seattle, and many other Democrat states. I think it’s getting pretty close for all of us to say you’re not gonna mess with Texas we can take care of ourselves.

Then there's the thorny problem of billions in federal dollars: "The White House approved $14 billion in Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding last year with 328 specific projects outlined for the money. And since the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law passed, Texas is set to earn a little more than $12 billion for its transportation needs, to be invested in its roads, bridges, public transit and airports. A total of $529 million is also set aside to help Texas with clean water." Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid would almost certainly go away. Let's also not forget that our beautiful system of highways and farm to market roads were completely funded by the federal government. Texas would be left to deal with the border crisis by itself with no federal aid or funding.
Were Texas to actually succeed at this it would almost certainly trigger a civil war with the US. Against the largest standing army in the history of man. Secession is a pipe dream and conservatives rattle this cage every 10 or 20 years here. Just know that Texans most certainly are NOT lockstep with this notion. It could in actuality trigger a civil war within the state. It's one thing to resent and resist federal control but quite another to cut your state off from it completely. We have tons of oil, but no ability to feed our huge population. We are completely tied to other states and the federal government to be able to do this.

I support Texan Independence for many reasons one of them being that in this western world there is a lack of true diversity, Diversity of philosophy thought and culture too much is being made into the same, Same way of speaking same food same worldview no differences can be allowed by those in power, however many movements across the west seek to reverse these awful changes and to restore not only their political rights but their cultural values they want to enjoy and pass down to their children and grandchildren.
Texan Nationalism does not promise a utopia we do not claim to be the fix to all problems however the Texan people having control of their own political destiny we ourselves can seek our own comfort in our own system under our own flag and laws so we may enjoy our culture and what it means to be a human to the fullest extent, the United States as a whole is a system that is counter to its own foundation the U.S was supposed to be a family of Nations not a single culture with no differences.
