Timeless silhouette! 🏆🏆🏆
I generally watch these without any intent to make, but this time, I think I will! Love this :)
You can do it.
I'm gunna try to make it to! Even tho I'm kinda new to sewing
Finally I found a channel that does explain everything perfectly and precisely. I am a beginner, like really beginner, I'm currently learning how to use the sewing machine. But I'm determined to make a dress by myself and I will
Hope you try it out!
You can do it! Once you get going it's a breeze!
Hey how did you go with trying to make a dress by yourself?!
I'm in the same boat! I've never really used a sewing machine but I really want to make this style dress with a bed sheet I don't need anymore!!
@@sarahweseen8209 that’s so cool!🤩
In case anyone is attempting to recreate this dress, April's tip about being aware of the width of your fabric is very important. Both of the fabrics she used here are in the range of 50-60" wide which is why she has so much fabric to work with. If you try this with a 45" wide fabric, you're going to need to buy more. So for example for that width of fabric she used 1 yd each, but in a shorter width she would need approx. 1.5 yd to yield the same amount of fabric. Hope this helps!
(Source: have worked at the big green fabric and craft store I'm pretty sure she bought these from for 5+ years)
Thanks, that's very good information to have in mind before buying the fabric!
as someone who works currently at the big green fabric store thank you 🤭 u know someone is gonna come in with this video and expect us to make the width longer
Sorry, i am confuse because i am not good at patterns :(, so how much would be in centimeters? thank you
I measured out 60" but that was on the folded piece so instead of a dress I made a potato sack.
Thank u
This is super cute, out can be worn as a maternity dress as well.
That’s what I was thinking. I’m currently pregnant so this would be perfect.
That's a great gift idea too!
I attempted to make this today as my first ever piece of clothing (I've made some bags and small things, but I'm definitely an amateur). I definitely recommend making sure the fabric is wide enough based on your size. It definitely came out like an amateur made it (and a bit undersized due to my fabric size, so it wasn't as wide and flowy), but the steps were super easy to follow along with. Saving this to try again with the new knowledge I've learned! :)
Mia Maples brought me here 🙂♥️
Me too!
No
Same!
You can also use the scraps to make bias binding! I never buy it, I try to make my own :)
You really went into depth with this video and I love it!! Thank you April 💕
You’re welcome 🥰
This is the perfect dress that I've been looking for for my granddaughter. Thank you for the indepth tutorial.
You’re welcome :)
Very cute, and using the neck cutout for pockets was brilliant!
Def was a lightbulb moment!
Three things I love! Cute dresses, zero waste and easy sewing projects!
It’s so cute! You’re so good at sewing without a pattern and creating your own! So cool!
How cute! April: thank you for taking the time to step through the instructions. I know this is a lot more time for you to work on editing, but the details are very helpful especially for us beginners! PS> I see no "hospital vibe" on the blue one. Keep up the good work!
Yes no hospital vibe at all. It’s previous
I do feel the beige one though lays better on you.
I love it! Such a clever use of material for the pockets. Thank you so much for sharing, you have great ideas and talent 😁♥️
Hi April. These babydoll dresses are really cute! .I love the tan, checked fabric. You do such beautiful work.
I really appreciated this video I used to watch all of your old videos it felt like you changed a lot in your comfort of making clothes I think or maybe you were just dealing with other things but this was a great refresher and you definitely seemed happier than the last couple videos almost felt like you were back to the way you used to be
You did an awesome job for a zero waste project! The end results are so cute 😍 can't wait to try it especially for little ones
Im 14, when i was little i used to hand sew clothes for my dolls, and now i have a machine! Its good to find a nice begginer project that doesnt use a lot of fabric, because my parents dont give me a lot of money and fabric is kinda expensive for my wallet. Thanks a bunch!
Love the zero waste concept and the simplicity. Thank you.
This is so nice. I love the simplicity, versatility, waste free, easy cutting, etc. thank you for posting.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I am obsessed with how you did this. Awesome video! You rock!
This is adorable and looks super simple!! I can't wait to make this dress myself!! Thanks April for the amazing tutorial!!
I'm in love with the concept that you used. Thanks for sharing your ideas. Much love and blessings for this week.
That’s so cute! I may have to make one for my granddaughter. You are just so creative! Love your channel! Thank you for sharing!
I'm glad to see this dress idea. I graduated from high school in 1967. We were wearing baby doll dresses then. Cutsie little flower prints. Just about as short as these, too.
LOVE this! Definitely making an entire set for me and my kids!
i DEFINITELY will be trying this out, you made it looks so simple!
You are so talented! How cool it would be to make your own clothes. These are adorable, too!
I've been following for years and April is the reason I got into thrifting and sewing.
Awwwwww 🥺❤️
This is great for those that have a baby bump or even further along in pregnancy, won't have to buy new clothes to fit.
I love this! I think I’ll try to make it as a maternity dress since none of my trousers fit comfortably anymore lol
Nice to know it doesn’t need much fabric since most projects I’ve been looking at to make require at least another yard and I don’t want to spent too much $$ since I’m kinda broke and just saving for the baby lol.
Super cute. My girls will love this! My hubby is the tailor in our house so I'll be showing this video to him!!! Thanks, April!
Omg your cat is adorable 😸
I love the fact that is your husband sewing! He's the best!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I’m a beginner. It helped me out a lot
I’m seriously impressed with this. You look lovely. Thanks again.
This is the cutest zero waste design I've seen!
Really nice and simple idea! Love that it is zero waiste! I still hold on to all my left over scraps because sometines I use some if it again but it is so much. This is just so good!
Knocked it out of the park. Amazing!
I love the tip on basting the pockets for easier hemming!! So great! This was another wonderful, inspiring video. Can’t wait to see more!
Aww thank you so much ❤️
I made a dress with this tutorial last month and I've just found some more fabric for another one! Great instructional video 👍
Super cute. You made it look seemingly easy to make. Good thing I have 3 daughters to experiment and sew for.
Love it! The pattern possibilities are immense~
It really is! 😍
This is so clever and looks so cute!
I really love the blue one! These are super cute 🤩
I love this tutorial, I cant wait to try! Thanks April!
so cute! perfect also for a maternity or post baby dress! i am making one for my daughter!
So cute! And you look great in them both!!
Absolutely love this. Thank you for the inspiration.
Cute. They look wonderful on you.
April, these dresses are so cute!!!
I love your videos! I just got a mini sewing machine to hem a couple MAXI dresses that I had bought...and you give me new dress ideas! I am plus size though!
This is such a smart design!
Totally adorable & you make it look so easy! I'm going to try it!
Dress, for kids, on up to a top for elders with a thick waistline. Great cool dress for summer in lightweight cotton.
Loved this project so much!! 💕
Omg April you're amazing this will be perfect to make for my 13 year old x
This is what I’m looking! Thank you for your simple tutorial! I’m going to make it soon!
I'm so excited to do this! I have a damaged vintage sheet that will be perfect.
I’ve been wanting to make exactly this!! Thanks for the video!
Oh my gosh! Adorable and eco-friendly? I need this in my life ✨
Yass 💁🏻♀️
So cute!! I want to make one now!
I love that blue one the best!
Love this project April!! 👏🏻👏🏻
Love the blue one.....I drafted my own pattern just before I saw your u tube video ... mine had longer sleeves and I put bust darts in for better fit ...I love you tutorials... and this dress is great for adults...not necessarily a dress for pregnant people or children ...
Why would it not be good for children or pregnant ppl? I think it is great for any size or age
I said 'necessarily' ..please look this up in the 'english oxford dictionary' ..as it would appear that you do not know what it this word means!!
@@DD-hf7vh I think they understood your use of the word. I'm also curious as to why you don't think this dress is NECESSARILY good for someone who is pregnant, because I was considering making it for myself as a maternity dress.
I just got my sewing machine this week. I’m ready to give this a try for my little ones ❤️
Amazing technique for a baby doll dress so cute ❤
Congratulations! Thank you for your service!
April I love your videos and how you teach us
Loved the video April, you have given me a perfect idea for a dress for my little niece
Yay!
Love both the dresses!
I love this idea and it's super cute!
Very nice approach to zero waste. I like it. I might make it.
Thank you! I'm new to sewing clothes and this is very helpful. Dresses are my goal, especially dresses that are NOT jersey knit.
So cute! I'm definently going to make this right now!
So cute! Thank you for sharing!
You are amazing the explanation was so helpful!! Thank you!!!
Gorgeous dress and now my next project! thanks for the video 🙂
I feel like I'm learning a lot about how to make dresses from your tutorial, more than most of the tutorials I've watched so far and I've watched quite a few 😜
Love them! Very creative!
That is brilliant. I will be making these for my granddaughters.
Beautiful and simple
I’m gonna make this! As soon as I don’t have any medical appointments so it could be a while 😅😅 I have several sheets I’ve collected that I’m gonna use
Love the new hairdo, grey looks great on you

Omg I'm totally trying this! Thanks so much
So cute. Good job!!
SO PRECIOUS!!!! I LOVE babydoll style … great dress style… hides my hips …☺️. So want to try this for this fall!!!
It should be a staple in everyone’s closet 😍
So how do I determine how much fabric I need … I’m currently a size 16/18 but losing weight too…☺️🙏
Did you use cotton as the fabric? Also is that a preferred fabric for this kind of dress?
This is so cute!
I just found your channel and I’m a new subscriber now! Love the dress and I’m making it today for my pregnant daughter!
So cute!!
I'm kinda new to sewing and I want to start making clothes.ur channel inspired that so I just wanted to thank you and j love ur vids!😁
