  • Honda sparked debate with its new VFR1200F, but the question remains. Is it a sportbike or touring bike? Motorcycle USA tests it against the Suzuki Hayabusa and Kawasaki Concours 14 to find out. Watch the VFR Comparison video and then read the full Honda VFR1200F Comparison on www.motorcycle-usa.com

    As I do my research I notice a general trend. Ppl that were expecting to move up from their VFR800’s hated the new VFR1200F. Ppl like motojournalists and those that actually spent money to buy one loved it! I’m looking to possibly add a used one to my garage. Weight is of little consequence to me as I already own a Blackbird and ZRX12. I actually like the looks but understand it may have taken time to grow on ppl. HEY! The Hayabusa, when it was introduced, was said to have looked liked something squeezed out into a toilet. But it grew on ppl. My only drawback on the Viffer12 was tank size. But it’s not a deal breaker.

      Have them both... my only gripe with the VFR12 is that it's shaft drive and small gas tank..

      I have had a busa and now have the vfr 12 busa is a brilliant bike and more comfortable for me than the vfr.the vfr has more usable power low end grunt makes its power at 4000rpm were the busa pulls at about 6000rpm and by that time you are at 100 mph plus both bikes are brilliant but the honda feels well made compared to the busa shaft drive on the honda is the big advantage over the busa and also had luggage vfr also handles better in the twistys all depends on were you live i suppose

    I like love sport bikes. At 50 years of age, comfort is a major decision point for me when it comes to a new motorcycle. The VFR has comfort in spades, the only twin clutch transmission in its class, and while not as fast as a ZX14 or a Hayabusa, its still fast enough for any public roadway. In fact the VFR1200 will go from zero to I need a bail bondsman in about as much time as it takes to say that.

      It’s not hard to tune one to hayabusa numbers.

    The viffer is in the same class as the BMW K1300S. That should be the bike to compare it to.

    This bike is truly amazing, uniquely fast, perfect to ride for days on end, and I would imagine that the 'owner pride' factor is off the charts. The only thing wrong with it is that it hasn't anything wrong with it and the motorcycle historically is a machine of such obvious, dare I say glaring, compromises, that this machine has not been taken into the hearts of motorcyclists as much as it has been toasted by engineers and technologists. As a symbol of progress also the bike has stumbled into a human race currently mired in a paroxysm of wishful desire for the past as that once-celebrated progress has accelerated such that change has overwhelmed the human capacity to thoughtfully manage all of its byproducts. By contrast, motorcycling itself appears poised for a resurgence and yet because it comes on the back of a strong neo-retro theme you can at once identify that what is really being embraced is 'the past' and the simplicity that motorcycling represents to the greater population who, long ago, left motorbikes with nary a backward glance as they quickened toward the promise of total safety convincingly (and ceaselessly) made in automotive advertising. Just sayin'....

    The VFR1200F Kind of like the Buell 1125R , in that it looks better in person than in the pictures. Nice Comparison video though . Oh Yeah , LOL ! Adam,Dude, Whats up with the Hair ? ! Your not goin all outlaw biker on us are ya ? LOL !

    Concours has the KIPASS, which can leave you stranded....that's the Only thing holding me back from getting one. I really want the VFR, but the riding position is Definitely more sporty....Looking at Multistrada, WAY more comfortable, bars are Close...but not Quite as big as other bikes, and reliability and parts are slightly Scary....

    the vfr is too expensive and that is where it stops for me. If i was in the market for a do it all bike that i can do some quick touring on it would have to be the zzr1400 (although I plan on buyin a used blackbird dirt cheap instead!)

  • @Mathewmartialart
    @Mathewmartialart Před 13 lety

    @vtecboi18 i really wish that they did an update on the previous styling of the vfr 800, not change it to thise crap but give it a nice update. the styling for the 1200 sucks balls. even to the point that when honda heard the styling wasnt a big hit they banned previous owners from test riding the new model. and even MCN i believe sent the bike back in digust of how honda was acting, and it was MCN that created the buzz for the honda vfr 800 when it came out first years back

    this looks like a sport bike to me. i mean if you have to lay over for it, its a sport bike. it would be to uncomftorbal to make a really long trip without stoping crouched over like that.

    Awesome bikes, but Bart Madson has one of the most boring voices Ive heard in a while. Imagine having to listen to him for any length of time...torturous. Personally though the Hayabusa wins it for me, cant beat the looks/raw power of that Kawi.
