Fixing The Broken Arctic Cat.. | *Primary Clutch & Shifter Fix*

  • After getting the broken Arctic Cat off of the trailer and cleaning her up, it was time to pop open the clutch cover and see what was going on with our hard shifting issue.
    As expected the inside was covered in belt dust and grime so after cleaning all of that up we took on the tak of sanding and polishing the pillars down in the primary clutch.
    Using a homemade polish we managed to get the pillars shined up and put everything back together to see if we fixed our problem! After connecting the new shifter cable I could tell right away it was a night and day difference from before.
    Long story short, the Cat RIPS once again!

    If you get the bandit springs for your shocks you can set the preload and get about 10 to 12 depending on tire size and still have an amazing ride

    Love the videos. I wish you would have worn a helmet when you were ripping around. It's safer and shows a good example to younger viewers. Can't wait to see bike videos in the future. 👍

    Hey there sir. Having very similar issues with my car! It’s a wildcatX limited. Got it for free. 20 hours on it so practically new. She doesn’t want to shift between gears even when cold/while running. It’ll move, but rpms rev up high then engage very rough. Makes a clanking sound when moving as well. Clutch cover was black inside and did not look pretty. I believe the previous owner beat the hell out of her right out of the box with no break in. I’m going to take these same steps you did and hope this will get her moving again. I saw that shift cable on Amazon. Do you think it’ll work with the wildcat X limited? Appreciate the response! New to SXS. This is the best video I’ve seen so far related to my issue. Thanks!!

    nice vid, i have a 2015 trail with mods. I didnt know about the p brake issue, will have to look into it. I park it on some inclines because sometimes we have to when out riding and have had no problems. I replaced the secondary clutch spring and it was worth it. hmf performance muffler is a must! power and deep throaty sound, i love mine. i have a 3 inch lift and its great, dont let these guys rib ya too bad about the trail. me and my friend both have them and rally the shit out of them. they hold up just fine.

      Is your HMF exhaust a slip on only or are there modifications, and how much louder than stock,I have neighbor issues!!

    • @stormtwincam
      @stormtwincam Před 3 lety +1

      @@joewatkins5951 idle is a little louder, not any more obtrusive than stock i would say, just very throaty! when you pin it it does get noisy! stands my hair on end when i do open it up! it is a slip on, just bend one of the tabs (mounts) a little so everything lines up- its easy. i bought the performance model and i wouldn't change it for anything!

      I have the same problem with a 2019 textron prowler pro. Won't shift without turning it off. A safety hazard in my opinion. Arctic Cat is the worst company to deal with unfortunately. I have had the machine for over 4 years and it is barely usable, unless you don't need to turn around. Dealer had it for 2 or 3 months, I get it back and the problem is the same. Did you try this fix?

    Nice mang! Only thing that has me concerned with this is that belt. Is it sealed water tight? Ive seen many a Polaris stuck on the side of the trail with a wet slipping belt. Reason I much prefer chain or shaft drive, but thats non existing on an SxS that I know of (I use Polaris as my example bcuz Ive never seen a Cat out on the trails, but many a Polaris) also, contact me when you are ready to sell that thing!!!

    Fixes it, like a pro, and then tests it by turning it into a tractor pulling trees. All you need now is some snow, because some of us never get any and want to see snow, and it would be nice to find out if your screwy knee tingles when the barometer falls.

    Hey the 60 inch wide will seriously go anywhere your 54 wide will with better ground clearance and stability. The 60 inch sport is way better than your 54 trail seriously way funer that extra 6 inches won’t keep you from going anywhere it will just get you there faster corners and you go over trees better. You really need to buy the stuff to make it like the sport
