When he calculated the odds and laughed at the outcome, that was impressive. When his face started showing signs of building up resolve to finally rush it, that was badass. That look in his eyes. Such variety of emotions shown. Great scene, great actor.

What a legend. Got the furthest out of everyone on his own turn and cleared 1/3 of the bridge for everyone else to cross. Had he didn’t done that, the main characters would have died from the timer.
I know, he didn`t slack like the others who were too afraid to go on. I think he was one of the bravest and smartest characters, I`m really disappointed we didn`t get to see more of him in the drama. Could have been a very cool character
Actually his progress was in vain since the other two that went after him forgot which tiles he went on. So it ultimately didn’t matter that he made that much progress. Still went out like a badass though

Yeah he was my favorite one. I had to think about it lol it’s funny because him and the main character was about to duo it out unknowingly.
When the math teacher told Gi-hun he wanted to play with him for game 4, and rejected other offers, he wasn’t lying.
He probably saw Gi-hun lick the cookie during the honeycombs challenge and witnessed the dramatic tug of war match, with Gi-hun being the leader. The math teacher must have concluded that Gi-hun is very resourceful. The math teacher did not know it was actually the old man and Sang-woo that saved the day, and so he must have thought Gi-hun was the best player in the room.

The players choose what they play. I know a mathematical game with 10 objects that looks fair, but you can always win. This math teacher also is young, so he was probably one of those "fun fact" teachers, and he could have known about it.

I’m not sure. He literally told Gi-hun he teaches math. Gi-hun is no Sang-woo, but he’s smart enough to avoid any games involving numbers lol. And he has a case to argue that it would be an unfair advantage, with the whole ‘fairness’ thing going on at the time. They would probably end up playing a dexterity game, like Deok-su and player 278.
Very underrated. His elimination was one of the saddests he seemed like such a nice and sweet person 😭

The unsung hero of this saga, really. That scene was so out of the blue but I loved it nonetheless. The way he calculated his chances of survival, laughed to himself, before going for it. Even then on his own, he got past 3 tiles, 4 if you include the one which broke. I don’t have any other words to describe how badass of a move that was. Respect for the math teacher, wish he got more screen time though 👍

Literally one of my fav characters and moments. He had a few minutes of screen time and he had such an impact. Love the acting too, when he started laughing because of how ridiculous the odds where. Its quite a disturbing but amazing scene

WHAT IF the financial system was deliberately putting such people into financial peril through predatory practices not only for profit, but to ensure a 'healthy' mix of interesting game candidates for the wealthy spectators? They're obviously not chosen at random, everyone approached for joining the game has already been heavily researched and vetted. Who's to say they weren't pre-manipulated onto their course for joining the game, possibly years in advance?

Not really. Public school teachers these days get shit pay, you'd have to get hired at some really high-end private school to make it worth your while.
It is mentioned by a rogue island worker that the doctor killed one of his patients through malpractice, so he most likely lost his license and got into debt like any other player had.
Wish there was more of a story for this guy, like why he ended up being there with him being a maths teacher and everything :(

the math teacher actually ruined it for himself - Gi-hun would likely have accepted had the teacher not pointed out the uneven number of participants and that it would likely be the old man who would end up dead without a partner
honestly one of my favourite moments of the show. He knows the odds. Gives in, and makes it the furthest, individually speaking of course.

A few ways to cross.
1. Ask if you can walk on the beams. If not
2. Put shoes in coat, make a sling and hammer the glass with you shoe sling.
3. If they shoot a guy for doing this, the final way (that they can't say is against the rules) is to aim your jump on the glass directly above the steel beam, stoop down and stick out a hand to balanced on the unknown glass. So now the only skill you need is an accurate jump.
I also came up with the shoe idea, you cant wear them but you can bring them with you, just smash the glass in front of you by throwing it or making a sling and see if it breaks
I also thinked about passing in the middle or using the shoes like in The Cube

I like them, but it's a bad way to cross. The odds of dying by walking on the beams is if you're not good at balancing. The second one isn't bad tho. Obviously they were told to take of their shoes to increase fraction so people wouldn't slide when they increase their speed while jumping. Trust me, no one would want that. The third one is.... Yeah, there's no way someone would do that knowing that their lives is at stake

Since I'm terrified of heights, this one wouldn't sit well with me at all! I've been thinking about what I'd do in that situation. Truth is I don't know. I'd hope if I froze up someone would just push me & get it over with! I wouldn't want to stand in their way but I might not be able to physically move in that situation. I just don't know.

This kind of contrasts from the mindset of Seong Gi-hun (456)...there could have been a scene in the first episode where he was betting on horse races where he calculated his odds of winning his bet, seen that the odds were astronomically low, and basically said "Oh well" and placed the bet anyway and lost nearly all his money. It would subtly establish his recklessness, desperation, and perhaps immaturity.
