Gara lost to Toph??? Absolute nonsense.
One principle I've learned from avatar is none of the characters can multi task with there powers like being able to attack, create a shield, and make more sand at the same time. As far as I'm aware there usually locked in to what they are bending at the time.

@@TheGman42087 Missed the entire point of the fact that Gaara's sand would've killed Kimimaro with a regular Sand Coffin: Sand Burial had he not activated his Curse Mark (whose bones are already stronger than steel).
@@ramonsanchez4751 to be fair it was jurobo that said the first stage gave him 5 times the power in base but we do know Sasuke and Kimimaro have the strongest curse marks where as Jurobo has the weakest. So it's at least a 5x increase and likely more. Tempered steel can withstand strength upwards of 1,400 MPA which is around 203,000 PSI. So 5 times that is about 1.2 Million PSI and CM2 is said at around 10x base so his bones could handle a force exceeding 2.4 Million PSI(depending on how stronger his normal bones are than tempered steel.) To reference the human body can withstand 50 psi if it's sudden or upwards of 500 overtime before crushing. This means kid gaara is able to exert force vastly greater than 50 psi suddenly as not only are his victims crushed but they explode. The fact Kimimaro thought it was required to activate his curse mark in order to survive, still took some surface damage and flat out saying he would be dead had he not activated it shows he's probably using at least 500 PSI in the sudden crush which is about 5x required to crush a person. Yea how would toph survive?

That said, Gaara is also a skilled strategist. Not just a brute forcer. It'd take him 1 minute to figure out that Toph:
A. Can't fly.
B. Can't see.
C. Can't survive being eaten by a desert.
I know people don't like when their favourite characters are weaker than others... but it happens in every show. I like Tsuna in Hitman Reborn but I don't see him putting up a fight against anyone in the Bleach or Dragonball canons :|

There's one big difference between the two that I'm honestly surprised haven't brought up yet.
As much as I love Toph in the show, I cannot for the life of me think of a time when she was willing to go beyond mere incapacitation and actually take someone's life. Where as Gaara's first introduction was basically showing off how little regard he held for the lives of other people.
That type of mental approach when it comes to combat matters a lot, as it help to determine what actions and to what extremes someone is willing to go.
Prince Asbel I can understand that. As someone with a limited amount of martial training (specifically European Medieval Sword and Shield Combat) I just felt it was worth mentioning.

Do more like this. I love some autistic level over thinking about anime... seriously, do more. I watched that DeathBattle and was pretty disapponted with the result both because I like Gaara more and also because I genuinely think he would have taken it (although I'm not to knowledgable about Avatar my Naruto knowledge is pretty good.)

Another reason why i find it unfair is because in Anime when a series is long they get to explain each characters weakness.
Gaara had some weaknesses but he overcome them when he became KazeKage, he lost to a Akastki but he was a high level Ninja that could kill a kage and he only ran out of Chakra after battling Madara but he was brought back from the dead that gave him unlimited chakra.
I know, sorry but i said in my comment how they don't use that gaara. They use a much weaker version of him, check it out and pay attention. It's pretty mind blowing

I don't think toph would be able to control gaara's sand because the sand is being controlled by chakra
Benders use chakra. The main reason it wouldn't matter is the amount of chakra Gaara uses,how he uses it, and his chakra enhancement should allow him to just grab her then crush her.
@Dark 4715 Kate. Thats how they bend. They can't manipulate pure chakra easily and they don't know that they can bend pure Chakra. Chi blocking probably uses Chakra aswell. Everyone in Avatar can manipulate Chakra benders are better at certain typed Chakra

I don't like sand. It's coarse, it's rough, it's irritating, and it gets everywhere.
I don't see how she would able to deals with explosive, all Gaara need was to sit back on his sandcloud. Make few hundreds sandstone to fight her meanwhile, constantly shower her with sand bullet and paper tags bomb all day until see break. He doesn't even need God's mode on someone like Torph

The only problem I saw in this video was at 14:27 where he switched Pakku's arrow for Jeong Jeong and vice versa.

Man, if I ever were to make another labor-intensive video, I would want to make part 2. One of the biggest difficulties is not just the work in general, but in doing the research Screw Attack pretended to do. Buying manga, watching and re-watching the show, getting high-resolution scans of certain images and pages, and then hoping it will all be allowed to remain on CZcams despite copyright claims. Maybe one day.

but Gaara moves entire mountains of sand in an instant to block an explosion that would have decimated the sand village. Low balling would at least be about 6 megatons of force. Though having a mountainous amount of sand resisting an explosion of that size probably around 100 megatons of force
Toph at best is large building level which would be about 10 tons of force at best. She could hold it for a while when push to the limit, but that's just holding it. It's not like if I could hold a bowling ball for an hour I can punch as hard as 10 bowling balls. She's definitely not moving it about and tossing large building size boulders of earth
Gaara blocks the Raikage's strike on Sasuke from a distance. The Raikage was capable of dodging the Amaterasu an instantaneous attack. There's a lot of debate on the Raikage's speed, whether he's light speed or just under light speed a 3rd of light speed. Regardless he's immensely over lightning and Gaara can block his strike from a distance
high balling Toph she can be just over lightning what with Zuko being a lightning timer in reaction speeds and Toph having her seismic readings, I don't believe she is its a bit of a stretch of a power scale, but I'd gather casually dodging the Amaterasu is far more impressive than catching lightning.
But even if we say Gaara is over lightning just like Toph, remember Toph has been tagged by the Dai lee twice. Once at the party for the Earth King's pet bear when team Avatar was taken in, and again when they investigated Lake Laogai and at one point she was tagged by Katara with mud in The Runaway. Point is, even high balling Toph's by power scaling her to Zuko at over lightning level she's not untouchable.
Her sesmic readings are cool, but its not ultra instinct. It's not an insta-counter.
Regardless low balling Gaara's speed and high balling Toph, he could easily overpower her and can attack from multiple directions at once. As seen with his battle with Kimimaro and Deidara. Where Every bit of Earth bending requires Toph's movements and can easily overwhelm her. Again, Lake Laogie a Dailee agent was able to grab her from behind when she was battling two others. Toph's not gonna block several lightning speed attacks coming from multiple angles just because you think she's super badass cool
Toph could maybe beat Gaara in a sandcastle contest, but that's whatever
1. You super overestimate how much force that explosion caused, the amount of sand blocking it has no effect on the amount of force it created, and judging by the total devastation, it would be around two maybe three tons of force, nowhere near a single megaton.
2. Toph has literally lifted a city-sized (at least) library when it was being forced down by an angry spirit. She has also lifted at least a mountain over her head when she got trapped underneath a cavern and had to lift it. She has also tossed buildings, literal buildings.
3. The distance given means Gaara had much more time to block the attack, also lightning is instantaneous. It could literally be lightning fast, because it is instantaneous. You are looking to fanboys who overpower there favorite naruto character.
4. I am aware she is not untouchable, but in those battles she was distracted by around five or more other people, in her fight with Gaara, it will be one, so she will be able to defend/deflect there.
5. Her seismic sense may not counter things on its own, but it cam tell her everything going on faster than the speed of sound. I've researched it and she uses something called P-waves for her seismic sense, it is 23 times faster than the speed of sound. And since she can detect Gaara's vitals when he is touching earth, she can tell when he plans to make an attack, because they will spike right before he does.
6. Okay, Gaara has several attacks coming form different angles, but they are all connected to the same chunk of sand at all times when he does. In her fights with the Dai Lee, she has to defend multiple people with multiple different styles and attacks. That is a far cry from The same mound of sand unleashing sand tentacles on her.
7. I gave this example to prove she has superior control and precision with sand then does Gaara. And it is a perfect point, just think about it and connect the dots to find the most logical answer.
It's how i do it.
@@shadowhawkrine1947 Bruh you're insane. Gaara's massive sand mountain was completely stable and took that explosion bruntly. This is like saying Superman matching Darksied's punches means they aren't equal. If it didn't match the intensity of force, the sand mountain would have disappeared, completely decimated by the blast
Secondly, That library was far from city. Maybe large town if we really wanna high ball, but again all she did was hold it up. Maybe high stamina at best, but she's not throwing it about. Plus the library was sinking after the spirit got taken out by a book. It's more accurate he was originally holding it up and then release its magic, Toph wasn't fighting control over it.
No lightning isn't instant. It can move at extreme speeds, but basic science will tell you it travels downward and to the nearest target. Even lightning in the context of Avatar doesn't move instantaneously. We visually see it travel across the area.
And again, even if its one v one it's still multiple instant attacks coming from multiple areas. Being able to predict attacks coming and having reaction time are two different things. Toph's limited by her physical movements of her arms and legs where as Gaara can do multiple attacks with little to no movement and yes they are much faster. Amaterasu appears instantly, there is no travel, by that extension Gaara is fast period. So multiple instant attacks from from multiple angles. Equals no way in hell Toph can react to each attack. She blocks maybe one or two attacks at best and then gets overwhelmed easily. The only way she could possibly block each of his attacks is if you believe she has ultra instinct, which again regardless how you see her other faults her sesmic readings and reaction times has limts. Gaara has superior striking, durability, speed and versatility. Toph is limited by her physical movements. That alone makes her slower
@@wlfmanjack 1. No, that is not exactly what i meant. I meant that just because he used a lot of sand does not mean he used a lot of force, it is literal blocking sand, he didn't need to do more than hold up the shield and let it do all the work for him. AND in your example both darkseid and superman are exerting pressure on the other, whereas sand did not exert pressure on the blast in the least, it was a shield nothing more. Also, i checked it out and the bomb was less than a megaton of force.
2. A library in which those who traverse it may never see the entire thing in their lifetime? It must at least be the size of a country, i was lowballing it for you guys.
3. In your example with darkseid and superman they are both exerting pressure same here, the library and Toph are exerting pressure on the other. This shows her capabilities quite clearly.
4. The spirit's magic continued pulling the library down even after that, because if it's magic stopped working the library would have stopped sinking, because the magic not only pulled it downwards, it is what allowed it to sink at all.
5. To us it is instant, we see it happen in an instant, it may not be instantaneous in actuality, but i was talking about form a standpoint of a normal person. Also, in avatar the fact we can see the lighting travel means that the characters can see, it meaning they can react and move that fast reflexively.
6. Those multiple attacks are always coming from the same place, so long as they connect somewhere she is fine. The dai lee were not connected to each other, neither were their attacks.
7. I do not disagree that Gaara is faster, but he never uses his physical speed, never. It isn't even a point here, because he doesn't use it.
8. She can block all of his attack at once, since they are all connected, and she can react at the speed they are moving, she doesn't get overwhelmed by a single foe. it's kind of a rule when it comes to her. And not to mention she fought off multiple foes before the dai lee. She oculd use the same effect and blind gaara with a cloud.
9. Simply this, she has sense that are fatser than any other beings senses, and she can react at the speed of her senses. Ergo, she has faster reaction time then Gaara. Maybe not total speed, but reaction time.
10. In what way does Gaara have superior striking? In what way does he have superior durability, speed, and versatility? She literally uses any earthen element to attack form any direction in any way, he does not have near the precision, versatility, or striking as her. The durability and speed is actually debatable however.
11. Gaara has all of two attacks. 1. sand bash/smash. 2. cover and squeeze. Those are the only things he has ever used his sand in an attack. Versatility, sheesh. Toph does that and more. and with more material.

Ok so, sorry for the comment spam but I'm thinking. It's your fault for provoking my thoughts.
Like I said, I don't know a huge deal about Avatar (more of a Naruto guy if I'm honest) and what I'm thinking isn't directly addressed in Naruto for Gaara either. Quicksand. I mean I hate to give favor to Toph but quicksand is probably the only way that I could see her being able to even up the score. Were she able to introduce water into the sand this would reduce Gaaras ability to control it (I believe the Mizukage used water to weaken the sand to escape the seal and I can't be sure but I vaguely recall mention of sand being innefective against water. If Toph was able to gain access to an ample supply of water which she could combine with her earth in order to transfer it to Gaaras sand then she may gain a moment or two of advantage as Gaara has to adapt and shift gears (probably dumping the wet sand and acquiring more sand from the surrounding area). I'd say there is a very slim chance that Toph could engineer such a situation in the first place and even if she did the time frame which she would have to capitalize within probably wouldn't be enough to strike Gaara fatally but I feel that this could be one of the few options she might have of winning.
I mean I still think Gaara would thoroughly trounce Toph but I still feel that I should be charitable to her seeing as she is so cute and moody (hard to beat Gaaras psychotic and unstable character mind you. Speaking of, what a way to neuter an awesome character. Naruto beats the snot out of him, they become friends and Gaara becomes dull and boring. I mean sure, still badass but this was a guy who used to turn people into bloody rain at a whim and didn't bat an eyelid that he might have crippled a guy for life. This may be wierd but he was very much like Ivan Drago. Only not Russian.)
You are probably right although I was thinking though that Toph still had control over that earth even when it was wet (this is true of mudbending which I believe she used a number of times). Is it possible she could technically transit the water using the earth/sand or if she tried to lift that quicksand would she only be able to move the earth leaving the water behind. I mean when Gaaras sand becomes wet I believe he finds it much harder to control. whereas I don't think it has that much of an impact on Toph (I'm not sure but it might even serve to aid her control over the sand. I mean with a little bit of effort she could mix up a sandstone mix. Or maybe I'm thinking about this too much.)

Not to mention, wasn't platin used to to restrain metall benders, in Korra? Most platinum contains traces of iron, yet metal benders had a hard time, to the rate of impossible, to bend it. Meaning that could also be added to gold. Not to mention that Toph at the time she met Gaara, hadn't that much of experience in metal bending.
Really annoyed me that they used young toph with the height of her abilities but gaara is young, unstable gaara without shukaku. Or that's how it came off when I watched the episode of death battle years ago. This battle was the one that made me go, "Oh... They're full of shit."

Sure it is entertaining and nice to do, but people take screw attack wayyyy too seriously, I thought mattpatt fans were bad but atleast mattpatt has the decency to state it is a theory'HIS' theory and honestly tries much harder. Screw attack does zero research and simply let other people give small snidbits of information on a topic before saying " hmmmm sounds like this person will win" or " I don't like anime so, this western character is better". tbh It was around this time with gaara's defeat i just stopped watching screw attack all in total.
Yeah I’m a fan of both toph and gaara and I honestly thought they made lots of mistakes in their research, they ignored facts like how gaara once buried a dude and the whole landscape in sand with one move, or that gaara survived a point blank explosion to the face.

I would say that the humans of Avatar are far more resilient, faster, agile and durable than real humans. That said, they still pale in comparison to the level of the ninjas in Naruto, no doubt.
I think that rock fist in the air caught Toph off-guard because she was overwhelmed by the numbers of benders attacking her. Otherwise, she would have stopped that rock in the air. We see Toph doing this with gigantic boulders thrown by Fire Navy ships in the episode The Awakening.
Avatar is a bit inconsistent at times, and I think the creators are wrong regarding the rock fist scene.
I'm just debating Toph, I'm not arguing she has a chance against Gaara.

So i think it would be likely that she loses when surrounded by sand, because its like fog for her.
I think that if she managed to chatch gare of guard in his sandarmor, she could easely kill him.
Except that she can detect dust and manipulate it with ease at her lowest level of power. So we reason from the lesser to the greater- if dust is not a problem for her, then sand should not be either.

There's a difference between members of a subculture who find meaning in expressing pain and insecurity and an abused, neglected child who legitimately doesn't have a framework to describe their loneliness and sadness. And I think you know that Toph has plenty of emotional hang-ups of her own, even ones that carried far into her adulthood and old age. Characters with depth and struggles ≠ whiny emos.

I can say that Toph should be comparable to lightning timers since she scales to Zuko who was able to run in front of a lightning bolt before it could hit its target
The problem is that you're scaling it to actual lightning when it's MUCH slower.
In order to believe they are lightning-timers, you'd have to believe that the characters are all faster than the speed of sound, yet can't catch a Satomobile.

Here’s an example Batman is able to react fast enough to dodge bullets but if you shot a gun next to him and he tried to out run it he wouldn’t be able to. Reaction speed does not equal movement speed.

Throw a ball as fast as you can at a toirtose. Unless you suck at aiming, you'll hit it. The tortoise would need to have a minimum speed that it moves to interact with the ball in some other way than just getting hit.
Likewise, if someone shot a gun at you from 15 feet away, you'd have to move faster than a bullet can travel 15 feet to dodge it.
To dodge lightning, you'd have to move faster than a car (a lot faster)

The library contains every single written thing in an 80,000+ year time span. In our mere 2000 years of writing, we could fill new York city with the sheer paper mass. The library is at minimum the size of a state. And maximum the size of a continent. Toph lifted that. Her body withstood the weight of the library.
And gaara didn't catch or stop or block that meteor. Gaara held it up after all of its momentum was stopped by someone else. Okay, gaara can control more sand. So? That doesn't mean anything when Toph has more power over it.

I have seen all of Avatar and some of Naruto, and see clearly why Toph wins. I will explain as i refute your refutations.
I feel the need to mention here, that Toph's senses can go out form her and return faster than 20 times faster than the speed of sound. She also has clocked at lightning speed reflexes at least.
Rock lee is not Gaara, and Gaara has never exhibited such speed physically.
Yes, she can move her attacks at almost that speed, her earth attacks do not exactly follow the speed of her movements.
She has no difficulty moving sand, she has trouble seeing while on sand, and she just prefers to use harder types of earth. Never once has she noted to be less capable of controlling sand than earth, you need to up your level of research.

She does as she did with the earth in her training with aang, she bends the impurities, which are everywhere in metal no matter how small they are, and forms them around her, bending them inside the metal and she positions the impurities around her limbs for full automotive combat. Because it does not make sense to you, does not make it wrong. Look at galileo, it didn't make sense for the earth to orbit the sun to some people, but that did not make it inaccurate. And it makes perfect sense for normal earth benders to find bending metal difficult, they need her senses to know exactly where in the metal to bend. If they didn't they would be focusing their power on the wrong part of the metal, being unable to bend it.

In all of your examples (except one that i have already refuted) none of them are from actual sand, or real earth. And she is blind to it naturally, so of course she would act that way, but with Gaara it is entirely something she is comfortable with and knows extensively.
It wouldn't matter the material her armor was made of, she could strengthen it and push out with it, nullifying literally any attack whatsoever (not including psychic stuff), and she doesn't even need to do that. She could have easily burrowed underneath the attack, or moved through it like it wasn't even there.
Maybe the only reason no one argues against it is because no one knows about it.
You used a decrepit version of Toph for your example, FALLACY. using a different version of the thing in question. If you really did watch the show, you would have noticed her superhuman reflexes, strength, and durability. Watch again, but imagine what you would not be able to do in comparison to her (not including bending, duh).
You have not demonstrated much against her and the little you did was easily refuted.
Now that you have finished (haven't seen that video you mentioned by the way) I have a few nails to add to the coffin.
1. In another video using Gaara's highest feats he was mentioned to be around town level, and they in turn put Toph down at building level even after mentioning her ability to hold a mountain over her head when she was trapped in a cavern, so at around mountain level for her maybe higher.
2. Toph has held up a city-sized library while it was being forced down with spiritual power. Gaara's sand uses spiritual power, and she could trump it. the only reason she let go was because of the sheer weight of the object in question, she acted as if the spiritual power had no effect on her bending because, "gasp" it didn't.
3. Oh, I've been excited about this for a bit, the final nail in the coffin. They don't use the older version of gaara for this battle. They used his young version, the one where he fought rock lee, and covered a town with sand, that young version of Gaara. Most, if not all, of his future powers and abilities have no power/reason/meaning here. because he couldn't do them at that time.
Think about it, this weaker version of Gaara, the one where he wears sand armor, and can only control sand versus Toph greatest earthbender of all time. i agree completely, a no brainer for sure, she definitely wins that one.
I have heard of a future Gaara that can control other elements and i know not even the greatest earthbender of all time could likely defeat a multi-bender. But she doesn't ahve to, she fights young Gaara. And wins.

Toph can bend any earthen material because guess what, not only can benders bend living things, but having a nonliving thing inside of sand does not block Toph's earthbending. once you under stand how toph's powers work its easy to see why gara lost most people just choose to ignore the facts! plus since garas sand can be bended & he uses it for everything that an opening even the weakest sand benders in avatar can exploit!
